Lol I don't check in here enough but you all are so dang good at this game. I was ecstatic last night breaking into the top 1000 at Spa and then I see posts about you all saying "had a decent time, could probably lower my time a few tenths with a bit more work" and then you show your current time and you're already top 100 in the World
Well you're certainly doing great as well scoring a time in the top 1000 list of drivers. How often do you visit this thread? All us mere mortals have to stick together and help each other out. Have you tried the new TM challenge today? I wouldn't worry about it either. Just do what you can to the best of your talents and abilities. The best part of doing TT events is that you have fun and enjoy the 2 weeks of hot lapping on any given track. I don't worry about that stuff anymore.

Good luck everyone!

First of all, thank you! I felt like I was in a serious flow state last night, confidence was there more and I just kinda KNEW I was gonna put in good laps once I got the first gold one to fall. It honestly was one of my best driving sessions since I started playing the game

As for your questions, I feel like I come and go from this thread in spurts, but I always watch Tidge's videos since I subbed to him on Youtube a while back, so I use those tutorials to great effect.

I've done 60 or so of the TTs since I got the game, mostly since I got my wheel and VR headset back in mid 2023. I started checking GTPlanet a bunch more back when I was more into playing Sport Mode every day/week, but now I mostly only play the TTs in GT7 so I can still focus on other games with my limited time.

I'm on the east coast of the US and have two kids so my playtime is mostly at night after bedtimes and whatnot. I'll give the ZTune one a look tonight and the Alfa one a look likely in a few days. Also trying to start playing DK Bananza soon 🍌

Well best of luck to you, I regret having to sell both my Playstations, but we needed money for food, medicine and other important things. I have no brothers or siblings to help me out with the TT's. I am on my own in this GT fantasy world. I have to use my knowledge of what I've learned from the past 4 years, (since my debut with GTsport Summer 2021). Maybe after 2 more years of practice, I'll be getting lap times within the top 5000.

To be fair, this is day numero uno for the TT. I usually post a time quickly, watch it slip out of the top 100, and the struggle to reenter a week later. Get in there early and you too can taste orbit like me ;)

...then crash/fall/burn astronomically from outta space....

I don't recommend switching between the two current TT, they are so different, do one sesh at a time. The Alfa is the pretty thing by the bar in a summer dress glancing at you every now and again, the Nissan is the bouncer at the bar.
Yeah I usually like to do them one at a time. I try to get my gold on each TT while it still has ~10 days to go so I can focus on other things afterwards. I was on vaca tho for a week and hadn't gotten a chance to try the Hyundai Spa one til Tuesday night so I'm a bit behind schedule. First up will be the ZTune for sure

Had an hour on the new event this morning. It’s quite fun and approachable, but I suspect the Gr4 specialists will be grinding this one so I don’t expect to stay in the top 1000 with this time. Haven’t been back to the Skyline event yet, but there’s another couple of tenths that need to be found there before I return to Trial Mountain

Gr.4 for me often means i only need a couple of laps for gold. But this one... +4,2% after trying hard in my first session. Still it's an interesting challenge.
That sounds bad. Usually it is tight with a lot of gold for many with Gr.4. My hope was the little Alfa as my first Session with the Z-tune brought me near the silver zone - but from the other direction and still Bronze... 😅
We will see, have fun everyone!

Yeah, on my first lap i thought maybe I'm off gold just a little, than i saw it was 4 seconds.

I think my Z-tune is also about +4% but didn't like to improve it as i don't like the track and the feel of the car enough. Also, not much time on my hand as you maybe noticed by my absence in the ATAQ thread. ;-)

Scrap the idea of using CSA with this car, it's slower.

Weak ABS used still, pretty much the best lap I can do with my skill level.

The only noticeable mistake in this lap was the corner after sector 1, I drifted it in an unplanned fashion and had slightly slow exit speed coming out of it. But this allowed me a bit of a breather where I could maximise the setup for the all important long left onto the back straight 👍.

Didn't have a chance to have a go yesterday. Did 100km this morning and it took me almost that long to start nailing that first little section. Once I could get that right, my times started being a lot more consistent.

My optimal is about 2 tenths quicker but that'll take some time to try and achieve because of the pesky rocks / walls which will test my very short fuse 😂

Still, I'm quite happy as my first recon lap was in the 2'04s and I was worried for a short while 😂

I hope it is with your family and not because of work. I will continue my chase after you... Have a nice weekend!

Gave the ZTune a try for the first time last night. It took me an hour roughly to dial in the esses well in the beginning as well as the chicane but ended up putting in a few great laps. Knocking on the top 1000 again. Definitely will give me the motivation to gain a few more tenths the next few days. If I can just nail turn 1 I know I have some time to gain because my best lap actually didn’t have a great run through the esses but a fantastic turn 1. I also seem to struggle a bit with the long high speed corner at the end of straight after the esses. Will rewatch some ghost laps and regroup later

As mentioned above, the left turn leading to the back-end straightaway is so important to get right. I feel like I hit a good lap, except for that. Lost many tenths on the long straight. I’ll try to improve on this! But a good start for me with a 2:02.758.

And just a ton of thanks to go around to this group… I started time trialing with the WRX at Fuji in the rain earlier this year… struggled a ton but pushed through to gold. Fast forward to now… I never thought that I would hit a hit a gold time on day 1 of a time trial but I’m surprising myself a bit. I think there’s an invisible hand of GTPlanet pushing my car around the track sometimes!

If it helps, I do a few laps (it’s annoying) focusing on that corner, you don’t really need to brake for it, lifting and coasting in will let you carry speed but just be quick on the throttle. I play in VR so I’m either way more cautious or not on it enough.

I am in two minds as to wether taking it in 4th is actually better it’s not on the timing board but…..

Had another go in the R34 this morning. Found a couple of tenths but after bouncing around sector 1 for what felt like forever, I was somewhat displeased to have thrown away a 44-flat in the last corner. Will have another try in the morning

Here's something I'd like to share with you all my fellow racers.

I got into GT7 last November, having always loved racing. It didn't take long to get addicted to the game. I started playing sport mode and reached DR A significantly quickly, after a few months playing. Back this March, I wasn't progressing anymore and felt the pressure really hard. It was difficult for me to perform well and the game became a chore to play. I was always nervous to race online and the whole thing wasn't enjoyable anymore... I ended up quitting online mode and just focused on single player with Sophy.. and decided to give the time trials a shot. At first, getting gold was enough, but since Spa's round, last week, I kept pushing and pushing..

I can't really believe what I achieved with this week's trial at Kyoto. I wasn't even familiar with the track. Of course, I do watch track guides such as Tidgneys - you're awesome buddy- always striving for better, but I can't express how happy I feel with this. Something in me changed, and it feels like I have a better understanding of driving, in general. Many concepts "click" in my head now.

Sorry for the long post, but just wanted to share this with you all. Love this forum and have been following it for a while. Remember, what seems to be unachievable at first, just needs practice and understanding. Thanks for reading. Take care!!

Yeah, I been trying to keep up with you all evening lol. Been trying to figure it out there at the start of S2. I can jump in front of you right before the tunnel, but I cant get it set for the long straight on the exit. I'm pushing out too wide and loosing a couple tenths. Finally got it down to 2:01.399 . I really want to break into the 2:00
Smokin' lap though! Thanks for putting up, it's helping me a lot. I use your ghost most the time. 😎
