Exactly.
One thing I've learned so far is that Time Trials almost make you come back to them time and time again, even if you're "just" playing them for the credits... that's only the 1st step of the ladder.
Then suddenly you start getting faster and better and you just wanted to get back in to improve your time to beat your slow friend's times, then beat your fast friend's times and so on... the challenge, it just never ends!

It's important to not let turn into an obsession, because if it does then things will start to go south pretty quick.

My point is: There's absolutely nothing wrong in being competitive, and I have a tremendous respect for all of you guys here for posting such amazing times on the track and for showing such commitment (and should I say friendship and kindness to each other!), but it's also important to keep in mind that this is only a game, do not let it do more harm than good to you.
Naaaaaaaaaaaaah once i see a safe gold i am out like i stole the credits. Time to race.

Hi,

It has been a while again since I last posted - This retirement malarky is lots of fun but also very very time consuming!!! Having glorious weather helps too. 😁

I appear to have a hat trick...

I am sure I can improve with the NSX and the Clio. However...

I am NEVER going near a Corvette VGT again. Ever! This thing nearly drove me to distraction. It took forever to get a "gold" time and another forever to make it safe. In the early phase of the TT I thought a 1:06:3xx would be good to go. Then logged in to discover I was back in Silver territory.

I would rather have parts of my anatomy held above a candle flame than go back to Laguna Seca in a VGT. Dreadful dreadful thing!

Very best regards to all here.

Ian.

I have decided to walk away and be fine with it. No way I am shaving off another second here.

I understand that VGTs are part of the game and seem to be important from a marketing perspective for PD but I think they massively dropped the ball here. If this TT on a pad would have been my first ever experience of GT7 I would think that it is the worst arcade racer on the planet and never touch it again.

It is absolutely no fun whatsoever for somewhat earnest pad playing racing enthusiasts (which I would guess is a huge part of the overall player base). Really bad.

300km of pain later, still don't have a gold.

I’ve had starts of the lap that are actually quite decent but it all falls apart brutally right from T6 into Rahal Straight and from there until the end. T6 is just pure lotto and then the corkscrew is abysmal, the following left is abysmal and the penultimate corner, that right-hander is just utterly insane. I’m at a complete loss on how to get through there — as soon as you hit that apex (on pad) it’s like we get a puncture, it just stops steering, has a weird bounce and goes completely straight into the sand.
I will echo this, I can stay within about half a second of P1 until T6 and then I lose the remaining 1.5 seconds. I've got no idea how they carry so much speed through T6. It's like threading a needle, on one side is a sausage kerb that will delete your steering angle and the other side is sand with the sucking power of a blackhole.

The corkscrew has approximately 1 line where the car doesn't understeer on the exit, and that line is less than the width of the car.
Rainey curve i can actually get through not too badly, I find downshifting to 3rd and then up to 4th when you put the power down allows it to rotate just enough. But the penultimate corner is a complete mystery. I have no idea how they carry that much speed through there. Even going through there much slower, I still struggle to keep it on the track.

My question to PD after this is, do you even play test these trials on controller before you publish them?

One final attempt to just get gold at this tonight. What a 💩 show.

Yup. One final go myself at Laguna.

Last night I got credit capped and stopped by Legends and noticed I did not have the Stingray Concept so stuck that in my garage. Today I decided to use another 1mil on the VGT Chevrolet has graced us with, slobbered my paint scheme on it and took off. Took 3 sessions to literally sneak into silver by 1/1000th. Went in for "the pound", even if getting a little late, and scraped a few tenths off that and jumped, I think, 6K positions on the world leaderboard. Think I'll take my 1mil and two 4 star tickets, for about 125miles, all in, and hit the rack. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

OK, here we are... Friends, excuse the novel but I needed to vent a tad!

You put your thoughts (which I share completely) to text just a little while before I do, it’s quite a funny phenomenon actually. We seem to attempt the TT’s at similar times/days, struggle and get annoyed in the same way (and be on controller ;-)).

Yesterday’s 1’06.246 today went 1’06.125 → 1’06.096 (I think 96 IIRC) → 1’05.987 → 1’05.933.

Absurd story about that .096, when I set that time I was in a party with a couple of friends who was watching the lap at the time (share screen) and I got the notification mid lap that we couldn’t communicate due to network error. I end up hooking that lap up alright only to shortly thereafter discover that the percentage hadn’t changed from what it was sitting at before.

I wondered what on earth happened. The party was still fine and we could talk to eachother. Backed out of the session and went towards the homescreen only to discover that somehow I lost connection — the game was now in offline mode. The very same happened to one of my friends too. Everything else at home was fine, computer, telephone. Sat there waiting for a while hoping the game could reconnect (tried that specific reconnect button as well) but to no avail. Eventually restarted the game and checked the leaderboards only to find that that time never registered. I did save a replay of it (which is shared) but yeah, it never counted, bizarrely. A disconnect like that hasn’t happened in years to me and it happens here in this TT during the very lap I improved. You can barely write that **** but believe you me, it’s true.

Anyway, I do eventually reach 05 with a .987 which was very relieving. Still, I thought the lap kinda sucked. Especially the beginning which is the only part of the track where pad is a factor and I’ve been way faster there before. Kept going a while and got a more neat lap down, a .933. The start was pretty good with .504 at the first split, I was about to get sucked out into the sand by the hoover (or black hole) but somehow kept it going. Lotto’d myself through T6 onto Rahal and the corkscrew went better than expected too. Braking very early (learnt by screwing a few too many on late braking) and the landing was in my favour as well.

At the end of my session I did find slightly more consistency through the left-hander after the corkscrew, up to fourth pretty early to try and get some rotation and keep it planted, shortly then down to third and back up to fourth. For the penultimate corner, the right-hander and bane of my existence these past two days I kept it going still in fourth and just gave up trying to properly attack this corner (no more down to third there), just instead trying to essentially make it through. Avoid hitting a perfect apex because then it stops steering, leave a little room on the inside kerb.

I’ve shared those two 05 laps on my profile (tags #gtp #schlafhund #naxeht), hopefully a controller ghost could maybe be of assistance? I wish the very best of luck to you, really hope you can make it, man!

@Gomario JSP Sorry to drag you back into hell in case you already thought you permanently left it but I think you could do this, if you have the time and energy. Maybe with ghost help? ;)

I'm really loving the Clio at Sardegna.
This is probably the most milage i've done on a TT since the kart at Brands Hatch Indy. (except maybe the Delta at GV)
Got my time down to 2:05.695
Optimal is showing some 2-3/10ths to gain.
Think the Clio will need an oil change or 2 at the end of next week 🤣

I stand firm at not even starting Laguna Seca

TT-Sardegna-Clio-10laps-1.webp
It's been a long time since my TT efforts where not limited to get bronze (or silver) in the first lap and go. But as everybody was praising this TT and saying it is easy peasy, I decided to try and make more laps than what I use to do at the moment.

Went into silver relatively fast (lap 2), but gold will need some work.

I'll follow @Pesselles' ghost next time, watched his replay, he's quite aggressively using MT so I may not be able to reproduce his techniques on some turns.

I know the track well and the car is nice to drive so it is a pleasant TT for me.

How about this, you and partymix007 battle for the controller P1 honours, while you leave me in-front . I seriously don't wanna have to try this again but going by the rate of your improvements, I believe I must! Awesome result mate! xx.53x at split 2 is totally on it.

I asked partymix to join gtplanet so we can have a podium lockout.

:gtpflag:
Sure that sounds like fun would be keen to give that a go and leaving you in front hmm we might have to see about that lol.

I have some kind of deja vu from the Audi R8 TT now... 🤪😂

Strange thing, sometimes you drive hundrets of kilometers without getting anywhere and than there are three 2:04,1xx within 20kms.

Lost quiet some time at the final hairpin due to my suddenly wet pants, but at least it was good enough to safe the 2nd place. 😬
Can definitely understand that one I had got no where for over 50 miles then one lucky turned saved it. Also great job with your time your first two sectors were awesome to watch. :)

"Just when I though I was out....they pull me back in......." 🤣

First of all, congrats on thr sub 1:06, that is a serious achievement.....trust me here folks... I know 🤣
Your exit out of the corckscrew is nice on this lap, I think you cut more of the first apex so you have a more straight line and the benefit ofcourse is lining up for the lefthander after that, then staying in 4th seems very stable!
Nice job mate!

I woke up beeing frustrated already with thr thing, so I did try again 🤣
I had somuch trouble getting to sector 3 alone, the fast right hander killed me everytime, eventually I had a bit of a better run through it but as you know that should be the more easy part of the combo on pad 🙈
But did come across the line PB not save and not much but there was progression, and I am in gold again ...barely though with a .207🙈🤣......so barely in and placed 2171 😱😱

Thanks for the encouragement! 🙏

The Corvette VGT at LS is more like work than driving IMO, so I left it. Great job, and great times.

Wasn't finding time to play the game & also wasn't improving. But today I felt a sweet rhythm, so much that I was close to nailing all the braking points lap after lap to make the turn as it should be. Plus, two days of the Italian Grand Prix weekend I didn't play so I lost my rhythm where I've changed my driving inputs via DS4.

Prior to today, my PB was 2:05:588 which got me slipped into 1,700+ ranking. Today I was able to nail almost all turns which is why I drove 50+ laps. I was slowly but surely lowering my PB as seen here on 10th, 14th & 18th laps....bit by bit though.
20250910_163009.webp

Ultimately, I could lower my PB a bit more to a new best of 2:05:206 with an optimal of 2:05:067.

20250910_170732.webp

Was using @Tidgney 's DS4 lapped time for reference which was as always helpful & inspiring to keep trying. Tidney's car is on the extreme left (Yellow).

20250910_171929.webp

With my new PB of 2:05:206, I was able to climb about a 1,000 rankings to 795th. Even though I improved about three tenths, I'm happy as I'm trying to reinvent my driving through the use of L2/R2 buttons.

Hello ninjas 😊

After being off the PlayStation for six weeks..
1000041681.webp

Got back home and jumped in Clio, pretty nice for first session. (After reading this thread, especially what @Gomario JSP and @NAXEHT said about Laguna Seca with Corvette VGT, I am not going to do that to myself on last night of event)
Clio is nice drive.

Well. I quit my job to find some free time to find the spare time in my lap. I won’t need it once the sponsorships start anyways. For right now though, it was not worth it but it may be my best time trial result yet by rank.

Errrm well errrr

You know that GT being fast for even the world tour drivers doesn’t actually pay “well”

But a good time and wish you well on your endeavours.

This can’t be true. Mastercard just sponsored me and said I can order any sim gear I want to help me get faster.

I’m actually just here to compete with my true rival. Bigfluffy888.

Cool story bro, now pay an electric bill or internet or food or clothes or going out or birthdays let alone a mortgage especially when you aren’t actually competitive enough?

Anyways tolling aside I just want a new one to do tomorrow now

What are folks here using for Brake Balance on the NSX at LM?

I noticed Tidgney is using +5. I am on -2 because turn 2 and the turn uphill are giving me some oversteer grief. I don't need anymore rotation there lol

+3 or 0 for me, we all have different braking styles I notice that hollo and tidg can go later and better than me so I optimise for the initial braking, they manage the whole braking sequence better than I can but we are running slightly different lines at this point.

Drive and dial in for you bud and when you hit a wall change something for you and how you drive

Motion steering isn’t as busted as the sticks here, so you could do it and wouldn’t struggle as bad as we did. Still an awful combination just speaking generally with the 2,000 BHP, hoover sand and sausage kerbs, so the decision is yours! I spoke to another motion steering guy yesterday who has a 05.783 and he’s usually pretty clearly behind me.

You can check his results as a reference point. And of course you could always try a lap and pause before to line to see roughly where you’re at if you don’t want to set one.

And here I thought the British were well versed in sarcasm. All in good fun mate.

Of course I have bills. It’s not like I’m a cat or something.
