How do these work? Do it, Get a temp. rank then how much XP and credits do you get or what? i dont get it.

Is it even worth doing or should i focus on the bonus race things more?

I don't do them. I suck at drifting with the DS3 and the times on the TT leaderboards are insane^^
Plus, no XP or $ so...

And why would it be a waste of time? Off course you dont get cr. Xp.
But you get actual gaming exp. In gt5 you can only get better and thus compete in the next TT.

Excuse my writing, online on my cellphone (real small text

^ This.

I like to use it as a yard-stick as to where I'm at compared to the hardcore GT5ers who are awesome...

Needless to say I'm nowhere near as good as they are  But it's fun to try anyway!

So its basically practise with a leaderboard and restrictions? Well thats a waste of time lol.

lol at you...

I challenge you to get inside the top 20 and stay there until the end of the event. I bet my house you can't do it.

Well. I geus drifting is more my cup of tea...
Got a top 100 ranking twice now and #104 on the ssroute 5
I think its alot about challanging yourself instead of some knobs that dont have a life nest to gt5
I cant play it everydayi and if i would my girlfriend would pretty much kill me :p
But you get better every time around so maybe you will win it once.. But it will feel like real achievemnent

For me i'm going to delete my save game and start fresh with my dfgt, maybe more challanging,
After racing through up till endurance series with a ds3 in a week !

Let you know how that goes haha

Cheers and keep at it

Thanks for the help.
Obviously time trial leaderboards is something new to you.

I became addicted to hotlapping on Forza 2 and now I enjoy hotlapping on virtually all racing games. Apart from competiting against my friends its also great fun competiting against the rest of the world. We are such avid hotlappers we think nothing of spending 2hrs trying to shave off a few tenths off our laptime. This might sound strange to some people but once you get the hotlapping bug you become addicted to it.

My only gripe with the time trial leaderboards is much depends on owning the right car and having the right tune. Personally I prefer hotlapping when its a stock car because as everyone has the same car/tune it then becomes based more on your skill.

So far my highest rank when the event has finished is 5th. I can normally get into the top 20 but im really struggling to understand the tuning on GT5. For me it seems backwards!

You should earn credits per lap so you don't feel like your wasting your time chasing down superhuman laptimes.

Also, it would be nice to see how you rank against those on your friends list. Didn't Shift do that?

I decided it would be nice to know how many people compete in these events so I left one undone until near the end and then set a stupidly long lap time. turns out roughly 60,000 people attempt these time trials! Breaking into the top 1000 is good for me at the moment, Im usually finishing roughly 2000-3000th.

It's pretty sad if it's only 60000 or PD is only storing results for the top 60000... if you sell 5m copies of game and get this low of turnout in time trial, then put some gold, silver, bronze license test type purses into play in addition to the leaderboard format to draw in some more players.

I would do them if it worked like this, especially the friends list thing. However as is: no way, I know I can't finish in the top 6,000 so why bother :(
