Tips for a new player

Hello,

This forum is crazy active! lol

Anyways, I have always wanted to get into the GT series, but quite honestly it's always seemed that there was too much that is needed in order to have any success online. With all the tuning and customization available to us, it's tough for the non-auto guys that have no background on tuning specs etc...

I know I can just go and steal other's specs on their cars that they made, but what good will that do for me? Nothing IMO... I just want a base for me so when I get the game, and start playing and earning some cash to buy upgrades and stuff, I'll know enough to get started on the tuning aspect of it.

Welcome Enzo - I defected from FM3 as the community was non existent - GT5 lot are a great bunch (with the occassional grumpy sod)!

Nothng wrong with using someone elses tune as a start point - even F1 teams do this - you just adapt it to your driving style.

Welcome to GTP Enzo.
Best start is to look through the GT5 Tuning Guides.
Then I'd suggest starting with a rear wheel drive car, and apply one of the forum tunes to it.
Do a few laps to see how it runs, and then change one or two settings,
like the camber or toe settings for the suspension.
Put them to maximum or minimum, and try another lap.
With camber or toe you'll instantly see a difference, and probably end up in the wall.
It sounds daft and pointless but doing this can help you to understand HOW each individual tuning option can alter the handling of the car.
When you know how each setting is used, start again with a front wheel drive car.
All the settings will be similar to the RWD setup, it's just a case of using a similar setup,
then tweaking each option until you feel happy with the handling and can't improve it further.
