well a good drifter doesnt ned to jerk his anolog stick, good drifters on GT3 use non agressve steering and counter steering changes combined with throttle balance which is also easy on dual shock as well cus the buttons are pressure sensitive.

lol.. you make it sound so easy.. i guess i must be a bad drifter then.. and id like to see a video of you drifting..

hey bud, notice how i said A GOOD DRIFTER i didnt say oh if i were drifting that thing it would be so perfect with a controller and so easy..................

TruenoAE86 made a video called Opposite Lock. It's in the videos section of GTPlanet. I'm pretty sure he mentioned that he did it all with a dual shock. His drifts are ridiculously smooth for a controller. So I say he's a good drifter ^_^. I wonder where he went....

Maybe it's just my luck.. but I use the dual-shock and always drift with automatic transmission... I haven't tried the wheel yet.. so unfortunately I can't compare the two.. but the analog is working for me... but then again, I drift mostly 4WD cars... maybe the wheel makes drifting much easier for FR cars... correct me if I'm wrong..:O

same with me cmd i use dualshock but i used a wheelonce and didnt like it so i brought it back to the store and bought socom lol i like the controller

Hahahha... well... if you dont like the wheel then I'm sure I wn't either :)

I think it's the whole habbit thing... besides, if i do decide to get a wheel.. I would want to get all the other accessories aswelll... like racing seat and door!!!

j/k

i guess this is the best time to ask this cus we are talking about wheels....better than making a thread:)

how much more effective is a wheel over a dual shock?

Wish I knew... I think it all boils down to personal preference... but I'm sure wheel owners will answer this question with much more precision...

I am still trying to get a hand of this, and have yet to try a wheel. Thanks for all the suggestions. (and no darkeneddrift I don't get the point)

FK the wheel!!! I just bought a wheel, but after about an hour of not being able to keep control of the car in the straight......Out goes the wheel, hello controller!!!!
I'm gonna redo all the licence tests with the wheel, maybe
I'll get better.

i use a d-pad along with many other drifters... i think my drift come out alomost as good as with a wheel... u would just have to learn all over again...

I use the two sticks, left as steering and right as throttle and brake. The steering is more responsive with joy-stick. Also I can play with the throttle using the right joy-stick.

I need to make my vid for you all! Sometime down the road...;)

I used to go at it like that, I had it down fairly. Nowadays I like to think "D-pad drifting" is the equivalent of a "gumtape deathmatch". :D
There isn't as much response with it as with the analog.

I use the left analog stick for counter steering and the 'X' and 'square' buttons myself.

i wish i had a wheel now i just broke my thumb in hockey saturday and it's in a cast im so mad now! i can barely type.(it's my left thumb)

D-Pad drifting doesn't feel so bad once you get the feel for the pressure-sensitivity. I tried when I first started out. It felt like how it feels using analog, except more thinking.
