donbenniI always found it the most fun to spend aroudn 1/2 to 3/4 of the money you start with on a car (Trueno) and then the rest on some modifications, and then just take it from there. GT3 was a mission because of this and was good fun. You do end up doing the same race over and over until you can buy the next decent car (EVO VI), but you feel like you've accomplished something.
Starting with a really good car that you get for free is probably what Polyphony want otherwise they wouldn't have given you free cars for doing the licences, but in my opinion it's nicer to start with a crappy car and really drag yourself from the bottom of the pile to the top. So in GT4, at the moment, i'm probably going to start with the Trueno again or another equally decent cheap car.
This thread is good though, don't get me wrong, but it seems i agree with a few people that starting with a good car and then doing the necessary races before winning the next car which allows you to do another section of the game... etc etc. Before you know it, you've completed the game.
Sorry about the essay.
I totally agree. it's very gratifying to begin at the bottom. But think of this. If you use too powerfull (bonus)cars in races you will earn less points for unlocking other cars. I just hope the system is balanced out well.
