I always found it the most fun to spend aroudn 1/2 to 3/4 of the money you start with on a car (Trueno) and then the rest on some modifications, and then just take it from there. GT3 was a mission because of this and was good fun. You do end up doing the same race over and over until you can buy the next decent car (EVO VI), but you feel like you've accomplished something.

Starting with a really good car that you get for free is probably what Polyphony want otherwise they wouldn't have given you free cars for doing the licences, but in my opinion it's nicer to start with a crappy car and really drag yourself from the bottom of the pile to the top. So in GT4, at the moment, i'm probably going to start with the Trueno again or another equally decent cheap car.

This thread is good though, don't get me wrong, but it seems i agree with a few people that starting with a good car and then doing the necessary races before winning the next car which allows you to do another section of the game... etc etc. Before you know it, you've completed the game.

Sorry about the essay.

I totally agree. it's very gratifying to begin at the bottom. But think of this. If you use too powerfull (bonus)cars in races you will earn less points for unlocking other cars. I just hope the system is balanced out well.

1st use nos
I wish I had never found out about NOS from GTP. If I had seen it in the game first I would have been amazed and shocked probably thinking "OMFG IS THAT NOS??!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!"

Hearing about it first and then seeing it cut the impact way down. When I saw it I thought: "Oh there's the NOS that guy on GTP mentioned, ho hum". Hell, I didn't even bother to install it in my car even though I had the money because the GTP guy said it unbalanced the game. If I hadn't read that I would have bought it and tried it for myself, who cares if it unbalanced a few races - it would have been FUN to blast around on NOS.

Reading the prize car lists really messed up GT3 for me. I am not going to make that mistake again. I want the excitement of discovering this stuff for myself.

This was something I would have like to know when I started GT3 forever ago. I bought the most expensive car I could afford and ended up racing the same race over and over just for money. I will really be using these tips when I finally get the game.

Hiya! :D :embarrassed:  Meow! (='.'=)

Thanks guys for these wonderful tips! :embarrassed: Keep them coming! :embarrassed: These tips will sure get rid of that "sloOOOOw-car" boredom that I get will get in the beginnign of GT4.

have you got tips for someone like me who enjoys the races with stock "real" cars and start to get bored when you have to race modded 5-6-700hp cars or rally-lemans cars?

I want to keep the beginning last the longest time possible.

So other than not importing credits from GT3 what can I do?

Although the liscense tests give you some nice cars, theirs just one problem. You cant use them. The liscense prize cars are one time only cars. so if you take your RX-8 to the RX-8 cup and you rack up the miles or damage your engine, if you want one of those RX-8 concepts your now stuck with a broken car.

I plan to make a point of not using any prize cars for anything I have to save after. I want to keep my collector cars at 0.0 miles.

Solution to that:
Use a second memory card, start over and get the the licenses again... Then..... TRADE!!!!!

I don't know if anyone has tried trading the special cars yet. If fact, I haven't heard of anyone doing any trades yet.

So it's possible to permantly wreck a car on GT4?

Even if it is possible to drive a car to its eventual destruction, who really cares? If you drive it for such a long time that it dies then you have spent plenty of time in that car and a change would be good. A car dying is a wake-up call - there are 699 other cars in the game, try some of the other ones.

Just curious seeing as the lack of damage is one of the complaints aimed at GT most often, so maybe reliability has been included?

Assuming you mean Savegame, the answer is 1498Kb...

I've been lied to. The GT4 Special Preview Booklet that is in my hand, and in all my poor Japanese skills I can make out something about memory cards and 2500kb. Same as the Official Website too, mind you the game speaks the truth.

I cannot enter grand turismo worls champ. Do they need special requirement? I've got IA license. I use CLK GTR, my game status is 7% complete, 2450 a spec point, any mistake?

Is it possible to complete the license tests first bronze then silver and then gold?
If is then you could easily get all the prize cars. 👍

The credits you win are automatically converted to money? or there is no money and just credits?

I prefer to start low and try to win a lot of races with "underdogs cars", I even am going to say no to the free credits because of my GT3 and Prologue saves and licenses

what's the point of that? so if you're not going to drive the collector cars and keep them at 0miles....and you're worried that you'll blow the engine by driving them and you won't be able to drive them at all, doesn't really make a difference, at least if you blow the engine, you got to drive it a little bit, instead of just keeping them there....not sure if i even understang what im saying...just had that in my head.....long night last night....anyway, if you were somewhat good at GT4, you wouldn't blow the engine anyway......hahahah

if you get all gold in a license test, it gives you all three prize cars

Try this:

-Turn off mobile, pretend you are dead to all your relatives, call work to tell you're seriously sick, lock the door, turn up volume AND SPEND LOTS OF TIME HAVING FUN. :D:D:D:D:D

That will be my strategy if SCEE dcides to release it one of this days at last... :ill:
