has anyone unlocked costa di amalfi? i tried doing a search, but nothing came up....i'm at 10.1% completion, have 6800ish A-spec points 0 B-spec points, how far do you have to go into the game to unlock Costa Di Amalfi?

I dont know if this has been said before, but tracks in the game, both in sim and arcade mode, are unlcocked according to dates in the game (gt mode). According to my calculations, a new track is unlocked every fortnight (14 days). So if you unlock a track in sim mode, then it is unlocked in arcade mode, and this is the only way. So far i have unlocked all tracks, except i dont know how to unlock the vegas drag strip to race on.

Here are the order and dates in the game that the tracks are unlocked in gt mode:
Date is the date in the game:
Apr 16 - Deep Forest
Apr 30 - Opera Paris
May 14 - Fuji Speedway 90s
May 28 - Special Stage Route 5
Jun 11 - Suzuka Circuit
Jun 25 - Twin Ring Motegi
Jul 9 - Grand Valley Speedway
Jul 23 - Hong Kong Circuit
Aug 6 - Suzuka Circuit West
Aug 20 - Fuji Speedway in '05 GT
Sep 3 - Ice Arena
Sep 17 - Apricot Hill Raceway
Oct 1 - Cote'd Azur
Oct 15 - Tahiti Maze
Oct 29 - Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (Long)
Nov 13 - George V
Nov 27 - Cathedral Rocks
Dec 10 - Costi Amalfi
Dec 24 - Circuit de la sarthe 1
.......and a couple more (including circuit de la sarthe 2), i cant remember which ones.

If you want to unlock them more quickly, then just enter and exit free run mode (in gt mode ofcourse) or even photo travel mode and exit, because this causes the days/dates to pass without really doing anything.

That's a nice list. Well done.

You should note that the game starts on April 2nd (the date in the top right says "4-gatsu, futsuka" - 4th month, second day).

And what about the Nurburgring?

Darts
And what about the Nurburgring?

The ring is alreadly unlocked and playable from the very beggining.
You'll notice that when every fortnight passes in gt mode, a message will pop up telling you that a new track has been unlocked.

Also thanks Famine for pointing that out that the game does indeed start from the April 2nd.

Cool, but the 24 hours endurance races sucks , you can't save, the only time you will be on the nurburgring will be at the license test s16, unless you know more races tehre? I hope so...

Here are a few tips for starters, I know a lot of us have played the previous GT series, but since there are some variations (i would like to call it improvments), so here are some tips for GT4 gamers:

1. Do not buy a car at the beginning. Go do the license tests first, and you will earn prize cars even if you only get bronzes. One of the prize car is a Nismo 270R (Nismo-tuned Silvia), and that will let you win plenty of races.

2. Enter as much races as possible with your prize cars, you can get VERY VERY far into the game without spending a penny.

3. Recommendation for those who wants a powerful car in the beginning: Go to the special condition hall and enter one of the first two races with the Nismo 270R, you can easily win a 760 bhp Cadillac Cien.

More updates will follow...

That's just the way I beat GT3 :). Only bought 3 or 4 cars there for specific championships.
Thanks for the nice tips, now the only thing to do is to wait another 2-3 months...

For those worried about the prize cars, with the exception of the license cars, you can win them over and over and over again. You can clear all your medals as many times as you want.

Wow! Nice!!! Better than GT3 :dopey: .

Although the liscense tests give you some nice cars, theirs just one problem. You cant use them. The liscense prize cars are one time only cars. so if you take your RX-8 to the RX-8 cup and you rack up the miles or damage your engine, if you want one of those RX-8 concepts your now stuck with a broken car.

I plan to make a point of not using any prize cars for anything I have to save after. I want to keep my collector cars at 0.0 miles.
OK, hold on, here. Once you get a license test car, they're only good for one race? Or, until they "breakdown"? Then, I can never rebuild them back to new? Nor can I sell them? Even the gold prize cars?

Wow, is that ever lame. I don't think I'll go for all gold off the bat. I think I'll save that until after I finish my first game of GT4. That sounds so stupid; why the hell would PD do that?

When inferno said "one time only cars" he meant there is only one way to win them in the game -> license tests. There have been isolated reports of people blowing engines in cars which makes them useless however no-one is too clear on how or why this happens, could be mods related. Put these two together and you understand inferno's concern, a car that can only obtained in one way could possibly be destroyed and he would lose access to it forever ... or until you buy another memory card and start over.

You can enter the cars in as many races as you want although you run the small risk of them breaking down, and no there doesn't seem to be a way of repairing them. You can also sell some of the cars although others are "special" and selling them will net zero credits. I raced my prize cars in every race I could and none of them ever broke down (although I didn't mod them). Not something to really get concerned about.

The last of the BMW M Races is also at Nurburgring. Also a lot of European/German races takes place there.
Oke, so that makes up the no save option of the 24 hrs race a little bit.

Can anyone say if there are also Dutch races?

Can you drive around in The GT4 world like in the Dukes of Hazzard:Return of the General Lee and GTA: San Andreas and all the earlier GTA's or do you have to go with the dcontroller arrows to a site and press x or something?

Last nite.. tried the citta d aria (normal) @ special cond. race ..out of curiosity..ran it with my 600+hp LM nissan 'Z'! against some 4WD stanza(i think) low hp car.. won it easily especially at the straight .. later tried the reverse..( not familiar with it) .. accidently touch the back of the rival car .... 'bonk' my car stuck at low gear for 5 sec.. later a crash at the bottle neck after the start/fin.. and a couple more.. at last.. :dopey: LOST !:dopey: ... Surprised that GT4 had this kind of time penalty 👍 👍 ... 💡 💡 only wish it happen when i unchicaned the Fuji Speedway on the last turn.. 👍

How long would an average engine last? I'm hoping F1 cars don't last too long.

Ah, thank you sir for clearing that up.

I thought it was confirmed that a "Chassis Refresh" also fixed up your engine to it's original state as well... I read it on these forums somewhere...

C.

wow... u can actually blow the engine now?
i should stop racing my Lupo then.. haha... (only has two cars so far.. just barely started..)

the chassis fixing is EXPENSIVE!.... but can someone confirm that chassis fix DOES actually fix the engine as well plz? thx!
