What tires are like comfort hards in real life? Also, do any pros use comfort hards in competition?

i don't know what kind of tires they are in real life srry. but i know what kind of tires the pro's use, they usualy use comfort hard in front and soft in the back

How the hell would soft at the rear and hard at the front work, that mean's you'd have no front end grip with hards on the front.

You are talking about the point system ''pros'' in their dumb speed 12's and buick specials. These guys don't know **** about drifting

Coundn't say it any better.

A lot of the tires(that are on the car when u buy it)) on GT5 are wrong. Some cars are equipped with more grip than they are supposed to have while other have less than their factory equivalent.

A example is the FC3S RX-7 it comes with Comfort softs when you buy it but the tires it should have are comfort mediums.

The D1GP drivers all use a high performance street radials the equivalent to that in GT5 is Sports Soft tires. This is not a opinion it is a fact.

Here is where i go to find what tires are supposed to be on the car

They know enough to be at the top of the tables all the time

Honestly the only thing that they know is how to abuse the system and achieve the most points in drift mode, besides that a little a bit of tuning knowledge and that's about it.

haha abuse the system... i dont abuse the system and can make it to the top 50 its not called abusing its called practicing and doing it over and over again until you get it right.

Generally tire choice goes with how much power the car has. I was just curious because a large amount of people drift comf Hards including my team. But realisticly speaking (this game is a simulator) my supra is just PEELING with comfort hard while comfort softs or sports hard well better suit it. Btw the sports soft appear to be like cut slick tires

Ok, so what car do you use?

As long as I get 1m credit I'm happy. people put a lot of practice into getting heaps of points. I may get in the top 50 but I wouldn't be as good as a drifter who can tandem and do backwards entries. I see the drift mode as a tool to see how my cars perform in terms of what angle and speed they get but I don't use it as a basis for being a pro drifter

Maybe thats why i prefer amateur drift than professional drift. By the way im getting sick of D1 competitions, their rules and sections. Why not just chill and slide anywhere, anytime?

hey Nismo34 , most of the time i use my vantage '99 but i'm working on a mustang but i change my car almost every week so its not always the same. a friend of my gave me a cerbera speed 12 today but havent really got the chance to use/tune that one only did one try but still ended up the 33 position @ tokyo route.

hey jrkiwiboy, i can do those things 2 (not the greatest one at reverse entry's :p ) but there for i use diffrent settings got 3 pair of settings on each car A/B/C A is the one i use for drifting in tandems and just getting a beautifull drift show. B is the one i use for points, and C is the one i use to figure out new stuff(settings)

There are no tires in real life which are like comfort tires in this game. Comfort tires in this game are what would happen if you took crappy $50 tires from a tire shop, put them on your wheels, and then injected the tire with plastic instead of air so that there's absolutely no flex in the tire's sidewall or anything. You'll more or less have the equivalent of GT5's comfort tires.

This got off topic...

Anyways what would these tires be considered

Falken azenis rt 615 (I believe a sports tire for sure)

Falken ziex ze 912

A guy called James Hudson (TwinTurboCH on GTP), tested all different tires' physics compared to gis 550hp pro drift skyline on semi-slick tires, (Used in professional competitions), and comfort mediums were the closest to that. And that comfort hards are like Continental road tires.

The ironic thing about those selection of cars is that there wheel base is slightly longer compared to other cars.

yup thats right:tup:, but that doesnt necessarily meen its a good drifter. take the callaway c12 has maybe an even longer wheel base than the speed 12 but still its hard to drift.

Longer wheelbase in drift mode = more angle = more points

See the flaw within drift mode now and why it's abused by Speed 12?

About the Callaway C12 as a drifting car, i guess the biggest issue runs around the weight balance (65-35, i guess), the huge torque, great weight and... size. Even with all these profile pointed for ocasional overspins, mine understers a lot sometimes. If Axis distance base would be a problem, any car like this would strugle, even a Chaser.

yes same happens 2 me all the time but than i fixed it a little and lended the car to my little brother and u know what... he screwed up al my sttings :S haha but i dont care annymore got much better cars now :D

haha yes but knew that already, but your are right. the only reason i use those longs wheel base cars is to get points aldo somethimes i use them in drift battles but most of the time ill use the svt mustang doesnt have a that big wheel base but drifts awsome atleast for me it does everybody has an other style :D
oh btw those cars are also used in drift battles because of the high hp even in the 5/6th gear and those are the gears that give the most amount of points.

Sooo can anyone help me figure out what these two tires are classified as in gt5 's tire selection

It's pretty simple mate, comfort tyres are road tyres, comfort hards are just standard base model tyres eg; Yokohama A Drive, medium are a step up eg; Yokohama S Drive and softs are a more performance tyre eg; Yokohama Advan Neova AD08.

The sports tyres are just semi-slicks such as the Advan AO48 which are available in differing compounds.

Is that so? Have you done testing or have data to support this or is this just a "Off-the-top-of-the-head-guessing-whats-what" sort of thing?

Well that's what they are trying to portray anyway based on the GT2 and GT3 handbooks I have and the descriptions and pictures provided, it's common sense really...
