To all the admins here telling me to stop going around the swear filter:

So.... You would undermine the instructions of the owner of this site for what purpose other than to serve your own values and dictations of what should and shouldn't be.

The Languages filters are put into place for a reason. That reason is to filter out profanity that is not acceptable according to the owner of THIS site. This is my opinion, but you going around the language filters is showing blatant disregard for this site, the members of this site, and the owner of this site and I feel that it should stop.

Other than just trying to prove something, look up some better adjectives that would be better suited for expressing yourself forcefully through the use of profanity.

That is all....

Rules are rules. If the owner of a site says "No Swearing", those are the rules by which you must abide.

If you disagree with the rules, exercise your rights to free speech, and post somewhere else.

End of story.

ok, lets add darn to the swear filter, and how about klostrophobic while we're at it.

face it people, this forum has the most rediculous swear filter on the internet.

yes i would put my own values above the rules of a forum, and i do quite often.

Come on man... Don't you have any self control? Is it so hard to live with the rules and standards that this forum projects? Let's be serious here for a second.

Here's a thought for you. Why not suggest to Jordan what words you would like excluded from the filter list.

Face it, a line has to be drawn somewhere. There has to be a point of acceptance and not being acceptable. Most of those values are determined by site owner's own personal values.

As GilesGuthrie stated, and I quote:
Rules are rules. If the owner of a site says "No Swearing", those are the rules by which you must abide.

If you disagree with the rules, exercise your rights to free speech, and post somewhere else.

Actually, one of the reasons I stay here is that the language is remarkably civil.

Pako nailed it though - Jordan's place, Jordan's rules.

I think this is an outraegous sentiment. Are you that unable to conduct yourself by the most basic guidelines of civility? Is your message any better conveyed by using words which serve no purpose other than to offend?

censorship can be good to a point, but having words like ***** and **** in the swear filter make it look like a preschool, thats an image I could live without... but i enjoy coming to this forum, or else i wouldn't give two ****s. yeah, i said it. i type like i talk in real life, that isn't going to change.

i'll give you that it isn't always appropriate to swear, but i think people should decide that on their own. and sometimes it is appropriate to swear, like when you're goofing off with buddies, or pissed off or whatever... people seriously need to lighen up sometimes.

I created this site, I built this site, I run this site, and I pay for this site, therefore I set the rules for this site. It doesn't matter whether you agree with them or not. Keep the trash in your mouth, not on my website.

Both are images I could do without.

Really? How do you function around the rest of the civilized world? At a job interview, do you say to the interviewer, "I'd like this job so I can make your company better and less like ******* **** ****."?

can you read?

-----------------

i understand its your site jordan, run it as you wish, but don't expect to start a forum that has over 5000 members and not have a few of them give you some feedback.

This is one of the least-restrictive forums on the internet. This place has got a great community of people who share a love for the games as well as a love for talking to each other. Although I don't think the word tawt (except swtich the 'w' and the 'a') should be banned, I do believe that in order for this forum to stay as civil and even fun as it is now, the swear controls need to stay in place. I hear enough swearing at work, thanks.

And mayorbill11, Jordan is expecting his members to give him some feedback. And he defended it perfectly. He does almost everything for this site. So respect his rules.

Good call, bro. ;) :)

I love the fact that it has the best swear filter on the 'net. I absolutely hate going to another forum and seeing all of the morons using the "F" word 12 times a post. It just ruins the quality of the forum with such constant profanity.

well the "f" word is kind of crappy anyway... but when you see people use it 12 times a post at least you know who is retarded.

You would use it 12 times a post...

Personally, I find that cussing just makes the cusser look ignorant. Hey if you want to be ignorant, go somewhere else. Most members here are from 14-18 years old, and that type of obcene language is not suited for them, or for anyone. I never cuss on here or in real life(I use words like damn and hell alot, but that's totally different becuase those words are even used by teachers).

Here, here's a list of other words to use instead of cuss words:
****-damn
S***-crap
A**-donkey
B****-Female dog

There, go have fun.

And BTW, the gran turismo.com forums are dead...hmm I wonder why...could it have been people like you cussing at other people?
Ofcouse.....it was.

Um...no. ;)

Otherwise, chill out mayorbill. Not everyone likes to see a messageboard full of posts where half the words are just "strong adjectives" Just go and find some of those uncensored car forums. There are a lot of them out there, and they're mostly crap.

In fact, while looking for some information on a car I'm interested in getting, I saw one the other day where all these people were insulting this one guy for no apparent reason, just using every word in the book and making up a few more. And what was the reason for this? The guy got some numbers mixed by accident (like 23 instead of 32). That's what happens when there's no swear filter. Forums are reduced to childish cursewars over who can fit the most cuss words into one sentence. Then the good, thoughtful mature members leave, there are nothing but young children cussing each other out over the internet, and the website dies or is closed and deleted. The end.

mazkid:

the GTF is not dead, not by a long shot, and you have *no* idea what goes on there, so quit while you're very, very far behind.

yeah, you of all people would know what i'd do if the swear filter wasn't around. you know what i'd do? i'd type [ i ] [ / i ] alot less to get around the swear filter, i don't swear like a sailor or anything, but i don't see anything wrong with so called "swearing" in the proper situation. i'm not saying people should swear all the time if there was no swear filter, but you're probably right. most morons would swear their heads off if given the chance.

Skynyrd:

you're probably right, most people aren't very responsible, and would fill a forum with swearing if given the chance.

this is a place I like though, and i wouldn't want to see it reduced to nothing but childish swearing, likewise with the GTF, and it isn't like that there either.

RF:

relax man! stick around, don't go burning bridges and saying "i'm never coming back". you'll be back, and you'll look like a fool, so stick around. you wouldn't have stayed here this long if you hated it.

i like you, you seem like a pretty cool guy and i think your avatar is very funny. please reconsider your calling jordan and josh whatever you called them (i'm too tired to ge back and look at the specifics).
