What Im finding is that I am completing the game quicker than previous GT's, is the game easier? is it shorter in length? not sure......

I do feel though there could have been alot more to the game, not sure what yet but its definetly nigling to me?

But...

I do like the idear of being able to download updates to the game, does this mean new tracks and cars could be added by a simple down load?

But then if the current game can be updated to make 'perfect' in the eye of the gamer then they wouldnt need GT6......

This is not a "black and white" issue.
Please do not insult people's intelligence with such a simplistic viewpoint of GT5 lovers and haters. Because one proclaims love or hate for GT5 does not mean they do not take issues (lovers) or enjoy aspects (haters) of the game.

You add absolutely nothing to the topic in the thread. I have not insulted anyone's intelligence with my opinions. You are the insulting one in this thread by first, not adding anything to the topic and by separating people into either a lover or a hater. I enjoy many aspects of the game and you call me a hater? That makes no sense.. :dunce:

I always tell people not "fulfilled" by the hype and disappointed in the game to go play a better one. If you don't like it, stop crying and play one you do like. Some people seem to take it personally when others don't like the game. Then you have people that are so disappointed and make it a fact in their head that this game is "not finished" and bad.

I just wish some people would just go play a racing game they like instead of crying that this one is unfinished some how...

I agree. If you don't like it, go play something you like. What are you accomplishing by continuing to play a game you don't like?? It doesn't make sense. That's like poking yourself with a pin over and over, even though you know it hurts, yet you keep doing it until you bleed to death.

So because PD releases a game that is far from finished with the majority of the cars being nothing but last gen leftovers it's considered genius.
If other companies release a game without things like shifting animations it's considered an unforgiveable offense.
Interesting.
Don't get me wrong. I am absolutely loving this game, but i don't believe it is genius in it's current unfinished and unrefined form.

These guys are being DELUSIONAL!

... while complaining that the pin isn't pointy enough, it hurts, and you're bleeding to death. I agree -- more people should either stop playing if things are that much of a bother, or just shut up and drive. Constructive criticisms are one thing, but there's an awful lot of whining for the sake of whining.

I'm going to ask something, and keep in mind that I mean no intent to insult with this question, but is English your first language? Because you seem to have completely misunderstood what he was saying.

Liking something does not mean you aren't able to recognize obvious faults, nor does recognizing obvious faults mean that you don't like something. I like GT5, but at the same time I am able to see the truly baffling problems that the game has that the series didn't previously have, or did have but not as bad as they are in GT5.

With that aside my only worry is them adding some "cheese" factor to appease fans. This could take many forms but the one I'm most in fear of is Sony/PD offering pay-for-credits, a la EA's latest strategies. I just imagine a bunch of spoiled kids who can't drive/play worth anything, using mommies credit card to buy $20,000,000 cars and filling the online tracks with dismal cheesy races.

I hope they refine the game with poise and purpose and don't turn it into complete $$$DLC$$$ prostitution.

What like giving away cars for pre-ordering? It's already happened.

While I am enjoying having a GT game for the PS3 I am also hoping this isn't what PD consider to be a finished product and that they 'rushed' it out knowing fans were getting frustrated, (possibly why there hasn't been much in the way of advertising?) with the intention of a decent future update. If that is the case I'd think they'd have quite clearly defined plans and not much room for accommodating peoples wants.

How many spoiled little kids will even buy GT5? They're all playing NFS. GT5's where the men are

I'v been playingg the gran turismo series since i was 4 and got my ps1... from then on... that game onlt left the console in rare occasions, only when gt2 came out...
same out with the Ps2 the reason i asked my parents to buy it was for gt3... after yrs of more gameplay... gt4 came out... EPIC game...
Then in 2007 i bought ps3, so it'd be ready for gt5, yet it took a while and in the meantime i bought every car in the game... so sad gt5 didnt have the import function on gt5 P.
NOw gt5's out and i wont stop playin... Yep, back then i was a kid, yet a man in the inside cos i always hated arcadish driving games. haha. and h8 them more now

I think you've confused the meaning of the word fact.

It's a fact that GT5 is a finished product.

Any game that has patches released for it is not a finished product, otherwise it wouldn't need them.

The problem is that game "they like" might not even exist. Perhaps there is no game that completely satisfies everything the gamer asks of it. What happens if every other game also has some great flaw, like awful, unresponsive controls, a lousy selection of cars, or just the wrong kind of setting or genre?

Some of us want to play the be-all end-all of racers, one that has literally everything all gamers could possibly want in one game, so there's no need to wait for the next big game. GT5 promised to be the closest yet to this vision, but it's obviously wide of the mark.

All we can really do is make do with whats there and just keep waiting.

This game was never going to live up to the hype. To his credit, KY has been consistently remained tight lipped about GT5. It is wild speculation from places like this forum, that have created a vision of the game that could never possibly exist.

GT5 is as good as it gets on a console, regardless of how many features it has compared to the contenders. So what if I can't stick stickers on my car!? Where it matters - on the track, all critics are silenced! I have faith that KY will come good, GT5 as it stands is still a phenomenal game, yes with a few problems, but still a great game.

And for those that say this game is unfinished, go play Black Ops - that is the definition of a game that is unfinished!

I'm really liking the game, and that may be because I'm really into the genre of sim-racers. However, if I step back and look at the game with no bias, I see Gran Turismo 4.5 ... where's the rest of my game yo?

Yeah, the worst is lack of events and head scratching omissions like no online XP or credit system

I've been analyzing the launch, etc, and I think Sony and Kaz have accidentally (or maybe planned) stumbled upon a new grass roots strategy. Release the game in a "good enough" form, then listen to the consumers as you constantly refine and update the final version. Quite genius actually as it's the only way to fulfill the promises of a project with this much hype. So for that I give respect and I'm curious to watch the future play out.

With that aside my only worry is them adding some "cheese" factor to appease fans. Quoting this Cause you mentioned EA games. I like you didnt like their DLC strategy. What annoyed me more though is that there were constant complaints of Bugs in Fifa 09. Both on and offline. Hardly any of the bugs got fixed but EA released Ultimate Team (a huge cash cow). I hope GT5 doesnt go the same way. I bought every Fifa football game since Fifa football was on the SNES system. I havent bought one since 2009 because I fear it will be just the same old story. A game that hardly works and never gets fixed yet loads of DLC is released for a price! Im dont mind paying for DLC in games that are polished, and maintained. Assasins Creed is a decent example!

this has been done by many other companies for quite some time now. fm3 is actually a good example. being released without shifting animations and some other things. Then deciding to add them after consumers started asking "where are the shifting animations??"

when t10 did this they were crucified among gt fans for it. now pd are Gods for doing the same thing?

Edit: woops. somebody beat me too it. my point still stands though

Didn't the FM3 patch come within the first week though? I think its more likely they were finishing the animations between sending off the final master of the game and the release of the patch for the animations. Its bound to take a decent amount of time to put in 400+ animations that are all just slightly different. Better to get the game out and have a patch out quickly than to delay the game for one little detail.

But GT5, it seems the physics and (for the most part) the graphics are the only things I'd consider finished. Its like they worked on those two things this entire time and then realized they ran out of time and hurried up to make up a menu system with too many menus and screens to go through for simple tasks, and some half-assed attempts at creating some races.

I'm hopeful they can bring out some updates that make the game more fun. Right now I really only enjoy taking cars out for time trials. The rest of the game seems like a big chore to do just about anything. I don't even take delivery of most my cars now because they're pretty much all ugly useless standard cars and its not worth the 5 minutes of menus and loading that takes.

Seems pretty simple to me, when a game does not have features that are advertised on the box, its not finished. Ergo, GT5 was released as an unfinished product.

There are plenty of design decisions I could gripe about. But that is besides the point. This game was unreleased in an unfinished state. However, I am still enjoying it immensely and look forward to when it is finished.

I would like to know what the hell they've been doing these last few years though.

yes, you do with your diatribe against people complaining about GT5.

Yes, both lovers and haters can be irritating at times, but your complaining at their complaining serves the community even less than my post!
