To those still frustrated at the Course Creator's delay...

And you, apparently.

Why do you think that it's relevant why the delay has occurred, at this point? Do you believe that there exist reasons for which such an extended delay would be reasonable and prudent, taking into account also the lack of communication?

What reasons for delay would be reasonably require a company to not release whatever they have, and also not to talk about it? Anything is fine, speculate away. But neither your holidays idea nor your bugs idea contain any reason why Polyphony would not release any information on the upcoming features, unless you'd like to elaborate on them.

Have already made my opinions on the subject, can't think of anything else. Cannot agree with your description. Every opinion on the net is valid to someone.

Anyone else?

Pre release hype.. organisations do this, don't they? especially at this time of year.
Some of those people never purchased GT6 at this time last year.

Some customers know better.

But my biggest problem with what PD did in marketing the game is they or someone from Sony gave online retailers the information about the game which includes these lines which are STILL used to sell the game on Amazon and Gamestop (at least on their US sites). This isn't pre-release hype. It's a product description used to sell a videogame and there is no asterisk or anything to tell the consumer these features are not actually a part of the game:
  • Create and customize your own race circuit on world renowned locations spanning several tens of square kilometers
  • Form and manage your own communities & events from local, domestic to global
How can the customer know better if they're given false information?

Dont want any updates just yet now I've fractured my thumb, can't drive anything, irony at its best I spose, gotta laugh :)

Does it even matter? I can't think of many valid reasons for delaying a feature for 11+ months that was supposedly very close to making the release version of GT6. Not without some sort of communication at least.

The valid reasons I can think of mostly fall under the categories of "random natural disasters" and "spectacular and deadly acts of God". Either of which tend to turn up in the news, so we probably would have heard about it.

I think what's actually delaying it is one of two things:

1. They announced the feature before they actually knew whether it was feasible. Turns out that it's kind of not, or at least it's orders of magnitude more difficult than they expected. Thus having painted themselves into a corner, they continue to try and actually make the feature work not knowing whether they'll ever actually get it functional. (Yes, I'm aware that Kaz says he has a beta version. He also said that it was nearly ready in December 2013. The man talks in riddles and fibs. What he calls a beta version could be barely functional from a commercial perspective for all we know.)

2. Gran Turismo 7. They've put a skeleton crew on supporting GT6 and everyone else is working on GT7. The lack of progress makes a lot more sense if there's only one guy actually working on the feature.

Neither of which are acceptable reasons to give to paying customers.

The course creator was made by one person in GT5; how do you "skeleton crew" that? There's no credit for GT6, funnily enough. Programming is not content. It was also very likely well under way before they announced it.

You have to remember that they are targeting both the PS3 and PS4 with all these features (for eventual efficiency, at the expense of up-front effort), so you're probably right, but not in the way you explained. Please consider the issue of incremental updates for something that is inherently interdependent with other systems (and the "patch breaking a previous patch" phenomenon prolific in software). Once again, the course creator is a suite of technologies, not just the interface we use to "make" the courses themselves. All software is more complicated than initially anticipated; try it, it's a wonderful insight for a scientist to gain.

Taking the decision to consolidate development and delay it further is not a misjudgment of "feasibility", it's damage limitation. Besides, features get axed during game development all the time, only game development is becoming more and more "patch after release". That's good when intentions are good (you eventually get a game closer to what the developers wanted to make, assuming you can update), and bad otherwise (release a game "early", incomplete, cynically). Of course, no game is black & white.

There's also the community features to consider; namely in the sense of security, or the fact that the PS3 has no security any more. That's why everything the game holds in memory is encrypted and only decrypted exactly at the moment it is needed, and only in part, or that PD have added extra encryption to their saves, or that PD changed the encryption they were using for the file structure back in the spring. Not only does that complicate the interaction of the game's systems, but there is surely no doubt the course creator will have a "community" aspect, as would the sound update (eventually) and B-Spec.

Not to sound condescending but that is trend in this forum. Another angle would be is to look at why PD are private, why they are a family and what their work means to them. Many organisations are like a family and move at their own pace.

Yes it is true, but normally familial organizations or organizations which are like a family tend to be really close to the customer. Pd ignore us.

Excuse me if i butt in again but, can't we hate on some other game aside gt6?
I mean there are worst games and game devs that treat their fans worse;
Have you ever tried Assassin's Creed 4, mmmhh?
Have you ever experienced the helplessness of loving shift2 but actually hating the driving side of the game?
can we go back to 360 quickscope-weaponswitch -to- knife- from the wing of a jetfighter headshot n00bs on the latest call of duty?
Let's come back to the argument whether new functions get implemented and stuff, for now i offer you:
Hype Train. (it's november 3rd.)
Other games.

Its because we all secretly care, if we didn't none of us would be here.
Raise a glass to our beloved gran turismo, whatever state it's in :).

You know what I'M frustrated about? THAT LAST VETTEL CHALLENGE AT SUZUKA!! I MEAN-

HOW DO THEY EXPECT YOU TO BEAT THAT?!?! :banghead:

*deep breath* ...Course Maker can come when it's done. I've got enough to be angry about!

That is quite the tsundere behavior we've got here.

It's easy compared to how it was in GT5. That was really impossible.

So... you literally interjected to derail the thread. If you want to discuss other games, go to the other online communities dedicated to them.

The problem I'm having is the Esses and how fast they come up in the Fan Car, not to mention, all the pin-point accuracy and timing around the hair-pins, Spoon, and 130-R.

That'll be it, they're delaying the features to add more sparkles. Everything is better with added sparkles. I bet they're going to shock and awe us with their revolutionary sparkle technology, developed from the ground up in collaboration with the world's leading experts in sparkles, the MLP fanclub. Each sparkle will be handcrafted by a developer who has spent the last two years taped to a chair watching MLP in some sort of Clockwork Orange-esque parody. Now that their brains have turned to cute, they'll finally be able to deliver sparkles of a quality that will satisfy the perfectionist needs of their slightly touched boss.

I think maybe I should go to bed...

Many organisations are like a family and move at their own pace.

You should add "and then go out of business" to the end of that sentence. Companies that don't keep in touch with consumer demands and expectations don't last for much longer, or lose a significant amount of their market share and profit to a rival company. When that happens, down the line the "family" will lose many of it's members when large numbers of staff are laid off to reduce costs.

However, why are we talking about a business like it is a family? How the staff bond with each other should not affect the output of their product. Everyday they are attending a job which ordinarily would have strict deadlines, it is not a second home where time is a luxury thing.

If you advertise something - give us your money and we will provide... - you have to obide by that whether the company is filled with "family" or not, by law.

Something something Consumer Rights.

Got round to doing these Vettel challenges today, regarding Suzuka event, I did without SRF and did a conservative gold run and was over 13 seconds ahead of gold so I imagine there is a massive leeway so don't give up, just carry as much speed as you can while staying on track.

I wish PD could just admit, that they are focusing on working on the next platform which is GT7 on the PS4, and admit that they do not have sufficient time to work on GT6 extras. They can redeem themselves and I can accept that too. Heck, please, DO STOP all GT6 updating, and just release GT7 even as early access in time with Project Cars next April.

by the time AC gets DLC#3 and PCars goes gold, GT6 will be less and less popular than it has become today. PD just needs to man up, that is all. We just have to stop being idiots too about speculating things that we know are ultimately untrue.

What sort of fool would you have to be to buy an early access version of GT7 from a company that had just dropped scheduled features for GT6, which was itself an early access version in all but name? Talk about being a glutton for punishment.

That's like those people that marry men with a history of violence and then are surprised when they get the 🤬 kicked out of them every other day.

I can understand continuing to support Polyphony once they finish GT6, but would you really do this all over again even if Polyphony have demonstrated that you may never actually get the game that you think you're paying for at release?

If Polyphony are going to drop GT6, there needs to be some sort of compensation scheme, because GT6 as it is now is not what I paid for. And I for one am not willing to give them any more of my money just so that they can have another bite at the cherry.

That's pretty dark, and probably inaccurate. It's not wrong to believe a person will change, to be able to be fixed, to believe that the person you love won't let you down again, etc. You might get off on being jaded (clap clap how edgy), but you gotta give a little love to the victims. While you might think people get what's coming to them, being optimistic, maybe even naive, isn't necessarily a bad quality.

To people in abusive relationships, I hope things get better for you (because it does happen) or you can get out before things get worse. For those of you dealing with PD, I hope the Gran Turismo series eventually gives you what you want, or you find a game more suited to your tastes.

I still love GT6, I look forward to GT7, and while I crave updates, I'm glad to have gotten this game last December as it was, than have had to wait til this December with what little more they would have been able to offer. On the PS3 nothing even comes close and people gotta remember that when they're talking about competition. If you can afford whatever console releases a moderately good Driving Sim, I guess I can see why you're crying, just build you PC cockpit rig and quit the GT series. But I bought my PS3 just for the Blu-Ray player, and GT5/6 are the only games I own for it. I've never once felt ripped off, because I have no other means of ever getting behind the wheel of an FXX. Do I wish the game had every car and track ever made or conceptualized? Sure. Do I hate PD for not being able to fulfill my insane fantasies? Not even a little.
