That's pretty dark, and probably inaccurate. It's not wrong to believe a person will change, to be able to be fixed, to believe that the person you love won't let you down again, etc. You might get off on being jaded (clap clap how edgy), but you gotta give a little love to the victims. While you might think people get what's coming to them, being optimistic, maybe even naive, isn't necessarily a bad quality.
Naivete is pretty universally a bad quality.
It's fine if you want to get into a relationship with someone hoping that they change, but you should be very aware of what you're doing. People tend not to change without some pretty good reasons to do so. Optimism is a great thing, but irrational optimism is not.
Ditto the parallel to game development. If Polyphony can still sell just as many copies of an early access version GT7 without finishing GT6, then there's little incentive for them to ever finish GT7 either. If a company were to be OK with not finishing one game, what would make them finish the next one, especially if they're not seeing a decrease in sales?
I'm all for seeing what GT7 will bring, but if GT6 development stops where it is now, what sort of message does that send to consumers?
On the PS3 nothing even comes close and people gotta remember that when they're talking about competition.
It depends what you're after. If you need 1200 cars, then no, there's nothing else even close. Ditto fancy graphics. Pretty much everything else I can think of has at least one other game which is at least comparable.
If you can afford whatever console releases a moderately good Driving Sim, I guess I can see why you're crying, just build you PC cockpit rig and quit the GT series.
Ah, the old "if you don't like it, then get out" argument. Classy.
But I bought my PS3 just for the Blu-Ray player, and GT5/6 are the only games I own for it. I've never once felt ripped off, because I have no other means of ever getting behind the wheel of an FXX. Do I wish the game had every car and track ever made or conceptualized? Sure. Do I hate PD for not being able to fulfill my insane fantasies? Not even a little.
Who said anything about hating Polyphony?
And who said anything about negativity towards Polyphony for not fulfilling insane fantasies?
You're building strawmen here.
The criticism is that Polyphony is one month away from failing to deliver major features of the game that were advertised at launch (and well before). Those are not insane fantasies, those are reasonable expectations put in place by Polyphony themselves.
