LAP TIME CHALLENGE

You can join in if you have these games on the PS2, Xbox, PC or PSP:

* DTM Race Driver 3 (Germany)
* Pro Race Driver 3 (US)
* Race Driver 2006 (PSP Europe)
* DTM Race Driver: Challenge(PSP Germany)
* V8 Supercars 3 Shootout (PSP Aus/NZ)

The aim of the challenge:

This time trial is a challenge to rival the best times of the professional racers. Basically, each two weeks I post a record time at a track, and everyone has to beat it. With slower cars. Simple, right?


The Track:

This past week, we've had one of the most grueling races in the V8 Supercars' calendar. The legendary Mount Panorama race in Bathurst, where Garth Tander won by a slim margin.

The record time:

Until last year, the lap record at Mount Panorama had been Greg Murphy's 'Lap of the gods' with a 2m.06.8594s, until last year when Craig Lowndes got a 2'06.80.

In the brief:

Beat time of 2'06.80 with a V8 Supercar of your choice. NO CHEATS ALLOWED.

Simulation→Time Trial→V8 Supercars→Bathurst
No corner cutting. On automatically though.
Turn on in options:

• Damage
• Sand Traps
• Pro Simulation handling

All types of transmissions are allowed.
Tuning is permitted.
You may do as much laps as possible.
You can discuss tuning options and your times here (try not to give an exact time, that would just ruin the fun!)
PS2, Xbox, PC and the PSP versions are allowed. You can use a wheel or a controller. Just tell me what you're using when you PM me your time (You can discuss it in this thread as well).
No contact with the wall.



How to submit your time:


To find your time, go to 'Telemetry', and then under 'compare', select your fastest time.
When you are finished, send me your time, with your platform/console with what you drove with, and transmission please.

I know right. I ruined any really fast time thanks to me locking up the brakes and the back smashing the wall in the eseses, and locking up the brakes and smashing the Falken wall at Forest's elbow.

However, through the S curves going down the hill it is extremely difficult.

What gear are you guys in through Turn 1 and Turn 2? I'm going through in 3rd and 4th.

Tuned down to 2nd at about 115kp/h is my lowest speed through the corner.

Try going the same speeds, or faster (can't remember my speeds) but stick with third. Because when you go second, it means you waste a small amount of time changing gear. But if you take the corner too slow, and stay in 3rd, you'll end up losing power on the straight. That only works if you're in manual. Obviously.

No. You are AMAZINGLY FAST. Seriously, HOW?! I think it might have to do with the gear ratios like you told me.

I just ran a good lap. On my new setup. Before when I hit under 05. I had the suspension at front 33 and rear 40. I swapped it and cut a massive amount of time from my lap. I kept above 100 KM/H everywhere except for Forest Elbow and the final turn! I saved my lap/telemetry too.

Ok, I think it's safe to say Race Driver 2006 isn't realistic for this competition, cause I got a 1'58.0, which is 7 seconds faster then Daniel, theoretically, going by WRS results, I'd be approximately 1.5-2 seconds faster then Daniel.

Actually, I'll check if there is a pro-amateur handling or anything like that.

What's weird is the handling seemed realistic, just the brake distances were very short. Going into the Chase, I was past the kink before I started braking, I'm pretty sure they can't do that in real life.

You may have pro handling. You go into options, driving, and it's near the bottom, as is sand traps, and damage. Turn them all on if they're there. Also in the menu should be configuration, and advanced. What game platform are you on?

I remember last time Akmuq said that he was on the PSP. It's not the exact game (RD 2006 is actually ToCA 2 but with a few updated cars. Akmuq, at the car selection screen, press square (that's what it is on the PS2) and you should be able to go to a 'Driving' screen where it has what 'box you wanna use, what Skython just said etc, etc.
