Overall, the game's quite fun.. I only got it yesterday, so I'm not that far into it.

Perhaps the biggest gripe I have so far is the occasional idiotic AI. For the most part, it behaves fine, but I've been in two races so far where I simply cannot make it through the first turn. Because as soon as I start turning, someone taps my rear quarter panel and sends me careening off into the grass/wall. Every single time. It would literally take me fifteen to twenty tries per race just to get through the first corner. Even GT's AI never screwed up that badly.

The other thing I don't like is the lack of free practice. I go into qualifying, and I've got three laps to get a good time on a track that I've never driven on before. That seem right to you? I can't count the number of times where I've gotten only one usable lap out of qualifying, because I went off the track on the other two laps and got penalized for it. I also don't understand the "cutting a corner and gaining an advantage" penalty when I went off the track on the outside of the corner and lost time. Several folks above mentioned that one, too.

Yes, I'm noticing that ALOT more now. It's starting to annoy me quite a bit.

When it does that, it's because you turn in the corner too fast and you try to take the best line (the inside line) and your rear end touches the front end of the AI, resulting in a spin/drift.
I usually play it safe in the first turn if I'm in the middle of the pack and I let the AI take the inside line.

It doesn't happen alot now that I figured this out.

And about not having any pratice on a new circuit, I just restart the qualification until I'm good enough on that track.

It's pretty much impossible to do a PITT manouver on a car in GT. They all just stick to the ground too much.

Where has everyone bought their games and for what prices? I'm pretty sure it'll be on sale for £30 at amazon, but has anyone got any better deals?

[EDIT] Ooo, £28 at Amazon.

Importing games into the EU is too much hassle. (My dad had to pay a huge import tax on TimeSplitters2 when we got it from Hong Kong)

Ashley.
I got it for £37.99 at Gamestation.
I know you wanted to pick it up but not have it delivered, but ASDA would have been a much better bet. Most their big selling games are £30 on release.

The PC version rocks :)

You'll need a pretty decent PC to play it though.
I have a decent PC, it's just that it's a family PC. And my time on it is divided between homework, surfing the net and chatting to mates. The last thing I need is an addicting game thrown into the mix.

Yeah I guess, it's just that I got a PC for Christmas so I don't have to share it with my family. I don't use it solely for gaming, I go on MSN and do homework etc but I just prefer playing games on PC than PS2.

Nope, this is the other way 'round. I'm already on the inside track, and another car taps me on the outside, sending my car pointing to the outside of the corner. It's the AI car that's doing what you're describing.. coming into the inside line while I'm already there.

It seems a lot worse in the open-wheel cars.. I'm doing the Formula Ford championship right now in World Tour mode, and it seems worse than ever. Open-wheel cars don't just bump.. they bump and throw.

Lol, I love how this game forces you to drive clean. I was able to get 1st in the Japanese works class race but unfortunatly I got a black flag during the race and it bumped me down to 7th in the standings. This game is awsome.

my favourite is silverstone, brands hatch, spa, hockonheim, and all of the them! but those are my favourites? which car do you think is the best? i like the palmer jaguar jp1! i was racing in the second races of the cars when you have to do 10 laps and the suspension broke from just racing normaly, any tips? also, i was upgrading my car on pro carrear and how do you earn slots so you can upgrade even further?

My favorite car so far is the Audi Quattro, very nervous car and I like it :trouble:

And about the suspension breaking, don't drive on the curbs, don't go off the road and try to corner as smooth as you can. But I don't know what car you're talking about so I can't really help you.

Driving on a raised curb in a Formula car is suicidal anyway. It either ends up in you spinning or flying into the air.

I did a barrel roll in my Formula Audi Palmer by riding on a curb

Yeah.

There is a reason I bought the XBox version. I thought it was going to work on the Xbox 360, so I could play it on the HDTV and play it online. It was a bit awkward at the time as I knew a few games don't work on it, and I had to go home to find out. If I did I would have to wait until next weekend to get it again. I risked it, and it doesn't work and I can't return the game. :( I would have bought the PS2 version because the controls are easier.

Awesome barrell roll! That would never happen in GT4.

Thats why ToCA is so great. You get more variety and you get damage/spectacular crashes. Things that GT game lack!

Is that Snetterton? If so I'm looking forward to that! Long time fan of BTCC (well, back when it was good that is). It's a shame there's no Knockhill, but I'll settle for Spa in its place :D

Well ive have been playing a little today, and its great. DFP with it set to simulation and multi turn and set to hard as its too easy in normal.

Ive also found the cutting corners flag to be a pain, but I guess if you go off then its poor driving and you should be penalised, it naffs me off but in the long run it makes me a better driver. (Sort of :D )

The game is very hard in places but I absolutely minced the competition in the Sports car B-Class races (2nd tier), finished 22 seconds ahead of the closest B-Class cars and by a small margin in font of 3 A-Class cars.

Open wheeled cars are fun, but I agree that if the AI decides to have at you in a wild way, you don’t stand a chance of lasting long, and the sand buggy’s are a pile of cr*p to drive, the slightest throttle and steer and its into the wall or spun in the opposite direction.

Upon trying out the lawnmowers and 2006 civic I conclude this game has something for everyone and has allot going for it over GT4.
 1. AI is far superior compared to GT4's disappointing AI
 2. Damage is very cool and I love the engine blows and random acts of disaster that can happen.
 3. Graphics are not as good as GT4's, but for what is going on with the amount of cars and the damage they are quite impressive.
 4. Car selection IMO is poor (class type is very nice as I don’t see GT4 having beach buggies and Monster truck in it) but over all amounts of cars is poor.
 5. Things to do are very nice too, although on the surface the amount of races seems naff, once you start to move up and unlock the other race classes its going to prove a large game (maybe not on the same scale as GT4)
 6. Car physics are good only in simulation; if this is not turned on the cars are sluggish in turning and prove too easy to stop.
 7. Supporting 900º mode is good to see and makes playing all that much more real, but if you don’t have a DFP or any other steering wheel, using the A-Sticks or D-Pad are naff, and make winning easier than with the DFP but a dull experience.
 8. Story line is annoying and I just skip it all and turn the voices off.
