To be honest I have no idea. I have only seen it online when other people host that have beat the game. It is an amazing track. If necesarry I can jump online and try to talk someone into playing it then I can record it. Whatever the host used is what I would go to and I saw that track a few times. Someone must know what track it is.

I think you mean Bathurst.First part of the track you go uphill and the 2nd part downhill. At the end of the big strait there is a chicane and then a tight last corner to the left.
That's my favourite track aswell.I'm undefeated there with the GT Lights.1.59.25 is my record(clean lap,no wall touching and cutting).

could you get video or pics of the chicane? The track I am thinking of has several chicanes for sure. Could the track be called "great america" or something like that? Or USA something. arrrrr crap ill have to get online tonight to try and find it. :indiff: If I go online I will definelty get video! 👍

Road America I suppose you mean.

For the Xbox, I thought the DTM cars were the only really decent cars to drive, followed by the formula ford. The rest is crap, although online racing is fun and that makes some of them bearable.

If the PS2 version fixed the issues with being able to blatantly cheat by driving over grass and such and the wheel support has gone up a notch or two (better than PC at least, that sucked), I might get it at some point - though I doubt I can tear myself away from driving the Ring, that takes 9 minutes per lap and I still keep watching the full replay of that too, so I manage only two / three laps per day and my best time is still only a 9'12.516 in the 120i with Road Tires (though I've got the lines for a decent sub 9'10 now, just make too many mistakes still) ... anyway, enough work to do before I catch Flinx's 9'03 or even touch on a 9 flat. ;)

I think that might be it.

Online there was something that the host could set so if someone tried to go thru the grass their car would spin in a circle instantly. I was glad it was there too because I always got a good laugh seeing people try to cheat! They would spin in circles and start swaring!
I agree that the online is the best part of that game.

After looking at the pics you are definetly right thats the track. THose are excellent pics too!!!!! 👍 👍 Thank you. :) That is my favorite track!

So, the game release is today. Anyone playing already? Impressions? Has any site wrote a review of it? Too many questions? Sorry, I just wanna play it. :D

Well, it ain't GT, that's for sure.. hehe. The control is more along the lines of Need for Speed, although without the sliding/drifing (in this game, if the rear comes loose, good luck getting it back). Traction seems to come into play quite a bit.. for example, if you take a corner too wide, and end up in the grass.. Right side on grass, left side in sand... the sand will "grab" the tires as they sink in, just like real life.. which means the car immediately spins to the left, and most likely into that pretty wall just a few feet away.

The graphics are a couple notches down from GT3, but still rather nice. That's not really a bad thing, since GT3 is still one of the prettiest PS2 games. The car models are nice, and the tracks themselves are fairly detailed, but the off-track areas (stands, buildings, trees, etc) seem low-detail compared to GT. It's got the same dynamic reflections that GT has, though, so the car's reflecting whatever's around it rather than a generic environment map.

DAMAGE.. hehe. You can beat the holy crap out of these cars, and it shows. :) It also affects performance.. hit the front end too often or too hard, and you damage your engine and steering, making it harder to accelerate and control. Slam into a wall at full-speed, and you're out of the race.. not only does the front end fold up like a tossed newspaper, you'll even see wheels flying away.

There's also a guy talking to you on the radio throughout the race, which is kind of neat. Having played GT and NFS for so long, I can pull off "moves" in the corners to gain a spot or two, and he'll come over and say something like "Ooo, nice maneuver!" or "Now THAT'S driving!" or something to boost your ego a couple notches.. hehe.

The whole game seems built around the career mode.. Isn't this the sequel to "Pro Race Driver"? That would explain it. In order to do any free racing, you've got to go to the "simulator". Like most games, your choices of car and course are limited from the beginning, as you have to earn them in career mode.

All in all, it's not the "best" racing game out there, and I wouldn't call it the "Ultimate Racing Simulator", but it's a good diversion, and should keep me occupied for a while longer while I wait for GT4.. hehe. I was up in the air about buying it, but the fact that the MSRP is only $29.99 was a big plus.. you won't have to worry about spending fifty bucks to play it. Based on that, it's worth the money.

I did have to look around for it, though.. Best Buy didn't even have a listing of it in their computer, much less on the shelves.. one of the game stores in the mall hadn't heard of it, either.. GameStop had it, though, "Just came in today" and hadn't even been put on the shelf yet. So if you go looking for it, and don't see it on the shelf, ask.. they may have 'em behind the counter.

Sounds nice, thanks for your impressions. I hope I can get it until next week. And your right, this game came right in time to keep us buzzy until GT4 is released.

Just a couple of questions: Is the framerate 60fps constant, no slow-downs? And have you tryed it online already? If so, what´s your impressions about it?

Thanks.

Jedi2016,
Was your review for the PS2 version? If it is then it sounds exactly like the Xbox version. I forgot about how great the damage was. Again my opinions are based on the x-box version.
edit:I just realized after reading his reply again that his review is for the PS2 thats excellent Ill have to pick it up too. 👍

Yeah, it's the PS2 version, I don't even own an Xbox.

Frame-rate seems constant 60fps. I don't have a network adapter, don't play online. :(

I just found something interesting, though.. The championship I'm in is racing on "Nurburgring Short".. (I think it's the F1 course) hmmm... The "short" implies there may be a "Nurburgring Long", perhaps? :D Methinks I'll go looking through the track/championship listing again once I'm finished with this one.

Yes there is both Nurburgring Long and Short. But don't start thinking Nordschleife. The long version is also called the GP version wich is the where F1 cars race on and the short version is the one that the DTM cars in real life race on.

Im going online right now on the x-box if anyone wants to find me. CAMAROBOY69 is my x-box tag. Im not very good but its still fun. I am going to try to record some of Mount Panorama Bathurst.

Here is TOCA2 track Mount Panorama Bathurst ONLINE tonight for X-box. Sorrry didnt know where else to post this.
I had an incredible race tonight in this game!!!!! Here is the video to prove it.
The guy in 1st place rammed me and I still took the win after 3 brutal close laps!!!!!! 👍
Hope you can see this video I posted on my site. No sound but...
Click HERE then enter the site. The file is called Toca2Brathurst. :) :)

Yeah, you're right.. I could dream for a while, though.. lol. The "long" version is the full F1/GP version, the "short" version is missing that "loop" on the southern end. You can see the road that connects the two, but there's no sign of the Nordschleife itself. Just on the other side of that wall! And all I get for trying to break through that wall is a busted car.. :)

Nice videos you got there, that burnout on the street was pretty cool. And that dumby one  I´ll watch the others tomorrow.

Good racing on Toca2 online BTW.

my fave track is the A1 ring. It's just so fast and tricky. I love the way cars react over different elevations, you really lose control over bumps and have to watch your lines because dips and ruts can change your direction.

Yeah I guess they figured that if they were gonna rip something off, they might as well rip off something awesome.

Toca 2 is a really long game. You will be very happy.
In another thread I posted another really long game.
Another long game click here read my last post on that game. The one that has a link to the car pictures.

R-Racing Evolution blows! :scared: pretty good graphs but awful physics, it's got to be one of the worse racing games I've played in the past couple of years.

+it's not that long of a game... the career mode lasted a coulpe of days if even that long..👎

p.s. Nice Toca2 online video...well done. :) + very nice Camaro.

Thats why I only gave it a 7.5 out of 10. It was an ok game. He said he wanted a long game not a great one. 80hours+ is long.
It was a huge challenge to adjust the cars and get them to be tolerable on the track. So anyone who beats that game is an extremely talented gamer in my opinion. Some of the races were sooooo close it was frustrating. I had to be extremely patient in order to beat that game. Extremely challenging. I just HAD to unlock all the cars in the game before I quit lol.
p.s. thanks for the compliment on the Toca 2 Race online. 👍
OK NO MORE TALK ABOUT R-RACING EVOLUTION IN THIS THREAD.

Hey Camaroboy69, would you be able to record a video showing the damage? I would love to see how the front end fold up, like Jedi2026 described on his review.

+ I would love to see how the convertible models look... can you see the driver? can you see the interior pretty good? that would be an awesome video...

thanks...

If there was any other game in the world right now that I would say I like as much as GT3 then I would have to say Toca 2. It is just an excellent game. Go HERE to see the damage video that BMW5150 requested. It is called Toca damage.
Watch for wobbling tires, broken glass, black marks, grinding gears when shifting, exhaust dragging.

Do you have a direct link to the AVI file itself, rather than the "click through five pages just to get an error message" type service?

It's telling me I don't have WMP v9 installed, which is a load of crap.... if I can just right-click-download it, I'd be set.

Sorrry I dont have any other way to host videos.
I just realized the most important part of this game!!!! THE AI is intelligent!!!! So imagine 20 cars on the track and intelligent AI. IF you stop in front of them they will back up thendrive around you. I could post this too if necessary. Thats the part that blows GT3 away. 20 cars and intelligent AI. Not to mention great graphics and car damage!!! 👍 👍
