Do the graphics really matter? Only thing you need to worry 'bout is the game play. But thats great in this game, IMO.

Graphics matter, but is not what determines if a game is good or not. That´s why I have a PS2 instead of an Xbox.

when i played pro race driver with my DFP, sometimes the wheel would crap out when i clicked the start menu during a race, the feedback would be gone on the road yet still there in grass, and sometimes the feedback would just be gone period. I've never had any real problems with the DFP with GT3, so I don't THINK it's the wheel. So i was wondering if this problem has been solved in Toca, and if anyone has these same problems?

Hey folks,

just rented TOCA 2 yesterday. I really liked what i saw an how the game played. So i was wondering if anyone could tell how good the regular DF Wheel works with it (too lazy to set mine up yesterday) and how laggy online races are (in Europe and with the PS2 version) ... Cause i really am thinking about buying it. but dont want to waste 50 Euros (ACK, why, oh why dont they charge just 30 €) ..

Cheers

Are you sure that´s the price? Because in the US the game price is U$30,00.

Lag is hardly ever really an issue, if you have a good connection and select a race group with a low ping.
Done probably about 100 races and only seen about 3 or 4 bad cases of lag.

The graphics are a huge leap over TOCA RD 1, not GT3 quality but they are much more stable and clear than the last outing.

I've been in a single race with a guy from japan germany and i some otehr place no clue buts is a side ways white cross on a blue back ground and there was no lag at all. game I've played with aussies had zero lag. Why just assume theres lag :).

Thanks for the replies. Just got a friends network adapter, guess i´ll try to go online this afternoon.

@FatAssBR: Yep, i am sure. In good ol´Europe they charge the full 50 Euros :grumpy:

This is the game to own, since we don't get GT4...
r u sure? I use Gran Turismo 3 to practice my driving techniques. Techniques that i use in my real car i can use on my car in the game (and vise versa). it's not real, but it's very close to the real car and gt 4 will be even better..
i don't think i could do that in Toca....cuz i thought it wasn't as realistic?

I've scanned this thread and didn't really find a whole-hearted answer. I have a PS2 and an XBox - which one should I buy Toca 2 for? Both are online, correct? And both have the same cars / tracks / events? Both support the same number of cars in races? Does XBox support more people per box than PS2? My only real reason for getting the XBox version is because a friend has it and I could play with him.

Well since the PS2 version came out a few months later then the PC and X-Box version it has some extras like a new circuit(Circuit de Catalunya) and you can race almost any series on any track something you won't be able to do on the X-Box version. For example, you will only be able to race DTM series on DTM tracks and Formula Ford series will only have 3-4 tracks. It doesn't specifically get boring but it's nice to have some other tracks to race on instead of just the same ones over and over again.

For everything else the X-box version is the better one.I think it looks better + it supports X-Box Live.As mentioned above it supports 12 players on 1 server where as the PS2 version only supports 8.

Hope this helps.

So ... interesting. That makes it tough to decide. Thanks for the good info guys. I've also found that Toca 2 is bundled with Colin McRae 4 on the XBox side of things for the same price (basically a free copy of CM4) when purchased at EBGames.com. $30 ain't too shabby. Maybe I'll just get it for both platforms - decide for myself which is better. (:

Hey GTC - thanks for the plug in your signature. I appreciate that. A few other people have quoted me in the past and it always makes me feel good.

The one factor that makes the PS2 version the better choice is that it is compatible with the Driving Force Pro, and believe me, That's a huge PLUS!!!!! try playing the Pro-sim mode with a standard joystick...

I've got the wheel, but I don't have anywhere good to hook it up so I don't ever use it. I need to build something or get a table that works or ... something.

I tend not to rent games though. But the thing is, I only have the cash for 1 game, and I'm rathe hoping it'll be GT4 this christmas.

the game is only $30 buck in the U.S.A.> If you invested $150 on a wheel (DFP) I think the least you can do is get the most out of it... if you don't have the wheel and have the Microsoft console just buy it on XBOX w/ the CM04' package... just my honest opinion :)

That's my current problem. People look at me all funny when I play with a dinner tray as a support for my DFP.

But I would be invading my room-mate's living room space by building a huge kickass cockpit. The wanker needs his space for when his friends play Madden split screen.

Look what i found,a few adds for Race Driver 3/V8 Supercars 2006:

that's really cool stuff. here's hoping they tighten up the "side-dish" races before they implement them. Cause the rallying in Toca 2 was downright embarassing.
