i managed to get down to a 1:20.8, but i nailed every braking point and apex and hammered every kerb out there. im lapping 1:22.5 consistently. this is the G35's worst track i hope![]()
1:22.3 here...

there is so much understeer it is ridiculous. how do i stop it from plowing on into the wall? soften or stiffen(i always get confused) the front suspension ?
im have only just started to set the car up, like the last 3 weeks i have only just understood supension. what is meant by body roll?

When you turn a corner, the car either stays planted to the floor, where the body stays up straight, or it will look like it is going to roll over, where the body will lean.
It's all about weight distribution, especially at this track. Lots of sudden direction changes, throwing the weight around in the car. If you don't have a stiff car, it will understeer as the weight is thrown the opposite way to the corner.
Did some testing te VW isnt slow at all around Autumn ring I got a 1:20.1 in the VW there. Managed a 1:19.9 in the Mazda. Then we went to Monza I did a 1:59.7 in the Vw and so far in the Mazda a 2:01.2...
Also VW top speed 156 mph, Mazda 149..
Everything dax said is great info, I would just like to add..
Try to keep the front ride height higher than the rear.
Try this GTP users tips https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=216152
Make sure you are using all of your gears. The red line in your highest gear should be almost reached when you are on the longest straight on the track. You only need about 4-8 MPH extra for draft.
DaxCobraThe trick is to see if you have body roll or not.
If your car is understeering with no body roll, you need to soften the car (less roll bar at the front, softer spring rate)
If it is understeering with no body roll, you do the opposite.
What? This makes no sense.....
Maybe not to you, but thats understandable.
It's obvious I made a typo, no one else made a fuss...
You pair really dont get on do you???![]()
Well maybe not to them, but thats understandable.
It's not obvious to a new member, or someone who doesn't understand setups...
Jesus Christ...
Okay. Here is a more detailed view on suspension set ups, for the more challenged amongst us...
So, load up your game. I take it you have bought GT5 at this point, but if you haven't make sure you do that. Also, make sure you have bought a PS3 as that is quite important too. Internet connection is required, but if you are on here I guess you have one, and a TV is required too.
Load up your game, build your TOCA car, and go to suspension settings.
If your car goes around a corner and has body roll with understeer, you need to firm up the car. This will stop it from rolling, thus throwing the weight around and pushing it off of the racing line. If the car is understeering with no body roll, it is because the car is too stiff, or tight. Lowering the Roll Bar settings and maybe raising the Spring Rate settings will allow the weight to transfer nicely in direction change, but if you go too far you will end up with the results from the 1st example.
Hope this helps, Strawman.
Dax shut the **** up.
Strawman the setups in GT5 are backwards, if you're wondering, as to the other curiosity, Dax is being a ass.
