I have never played the other Tomb Raider games but I am just so excited for this one. All the videos I have watched look very good. Clearly doing a great job with their marketing. I am not interrested in the mp, just the campaign.

I dunno, it's not really important but I'm not totally liking her new "look". In every demo I've seen, she looks kinda, what we here would call "wet". I appreciate her situation in the game but they seem to have given her this sort of feeble facial expression throughout which is totally out of step with the Lara we're more familiar with. I know this game is about how she toughened up but her physical appearance just seems kinda wrong to me.

I think they worked a lot on her hair and physique but she only seems to have one facial expression, and it's not one that imprints upon me a strong, or potentially strong, female character.

Fair point about her being always wet...

As for the blander looks of a younger self, would you consider this woman to be a strong female character?

how about now :sly:

Game leaked, played last night but only single player. Game is great, still Tomb Raider but with extra cinematic punch from Uncharted. Once you realized that island is full of enemies and only way to survive and make progress through it is being stealth and stay in hidden then you completely sink in just like i did.

Worth buying 👍

Stop me if this is a silly question, ussr, but how valid do you feel some of the criticisms of the game are? The major one I'm concerned about is highlighted in the GameTrailers review, which pointed out that the story tries to make Lara out to be somewhat fragile and clearly bothered by the concept of killing, but that the player is encouraged to kill frequently? Furthermore, how brutal is the game in some of these takedowns? The GT review showed some pretty grisly stuff, particularly with the axe, or Lara driving a machine gun into someone's chest and holding down the trigger so that they erupt in a bloody shower. This kind of violence in video games bothers me, and it has muted some of my enthusiasm for Tomb Raider. I don't particularly mind it if I'm trying to work my way through a situation, screw it up and am forced to fight my way out of it, but I've never been comfortable playing games where you're encouraged to take the messy option, and it's often enough to turn me off playing the game.

Based on your mini-review, I'm guessing that you and GameTrailers have been playing the game in two very different ways. But I don't want to waste my money on something that I'll hate because I'm not comfortable playing it.

Weirdly you have right in this matter. Game evolved and had to be changed into something rather more appealing than last TR games.

Looks like what you referring is strictly marketing site. Game Developers have to tell something to the games to attract their attention. So they blab about how this game is focused on Lara female delicate site. But what players really wants nowadays is to kill, kill, kill :)

I think first Tomb Raider is perfect example of this game you looking for. Before TR2 where Lara started to kill humans in every level, where in TR1 human enemies were only Bosses. I very disliked that idea of killing people on equal numbers with attacking wild animals.

From Tomb Raider girl Lara became this terminator girl.

Is there a demo version of it?

There won't be demo of this game, it leaked last night on warez sites, and for people who had hacked ps3 it is possible to play any game. I don't encourage piracy but i had two ps3's one is with hacked firmware and second one with original one which I'm using to play on line. I am downloading games i want to check it out and then after playing it ill do decide if they are worth buying.

Aliens Colonial Marines NO! 👎 :indiff:

Tomb Raider 2013 YES 👍 👍

That's disappointing. I was looking forward to the game, but I can't stand it when players are encouraged to perform violent and brutal take-downs. I don't mind having to fight my way out if things get nasty, or I make a mistake and alert and enemy to my presence, but when it's encouraged, it becomes a problem.

That said, going by both your post and some of the reviews out there, stealth is a viable option at times.

That change i was referring to was made between TR1 and TR2.

This game is different, i don't think you would be disappointed. Lara in this TR isn't this terminator girl she was in games starting from TR2.

After intro i landed on this island, i was wounded and hungry, had to find a bow and kill a dear, then make a fire and eat he's meat.

You have to survive first, find things solve puzzles very often at the beginning of your adventure. Fight just like you said comes later and it's inevitable.

Inevitable fighting isn't that bad. It's just when you're given no choice and the only way forward is to fight in the msot aggressive and brutal way possible. I myself would prefer to clear an area by taking out the fewest number of enemies possible.

So far i hadn't given this choice to avoid shooting. But please remember that this is still an awesome adventure game. We still have treasures to look for, secrets to uncover, amazing land scape's to see. Tomb Raider didn't changed that much, just get updated.

I like it so fa. Definitely going to buy full game, and play on-line too, cant wait 👍 My review in points would be 9,5 out of full 10 because i like these kind of epic adventures, and I'm big fan of Tomb Raider series.

This just in:

TressFX, while outlandishly good eye candy, is a severe frame killer. You can run it comfortably, albeit shaky at times, with a fairly powerful single or dual card setup though.

No one willing to comment? I know ussr has said a couple of things but surely someone else must have played this.

Very atmospheric, quite intense and good, absorbing fun. AI are idiotic mostly - well, I mean they don't push any advantage they have...there's also button-prompting all over the place - but apart from that, I'm enjoying it a lot.

It's also very Uncharted 2 in its look but that doesn't bother me. Lots to do and you won't get bored - I promise.

360 version.
Rented this yesterday and played the campaign for a couple hours. I agree with everything you said. It does feel a lot like Uncharted in a good way. Also reminds me of Enslaved. So far I am really enjoying this game a lot! The puzzles are fun, graphics are good and the environment is quite immersive. Also a lot more free roam freedom than I expected. I only played a couple hours but its a very enjoyable game so far. Water effects are great too. I highly recommend everyone at least rent this to check it out. So far this is ne of the best games of 2013. :)

I've just finished main story line. All i can say is this. Lara Croft boarded the "Endurance" ship to embark on Uncharted waters 👍

I have strong feeling that if only not Last of US, the Tomb Raider 2013 might be game of the Year even. This is going to be great year for adventure lovers :sly:

How many hours did it takes you ? I'm waiting for better geforce drivers before getting on the game.

That would be relative to how much exploring and searching for loot/completing side quests a player does I suppose. I am at 14% after four hours, though I'm sure with focusing on pure mission objectives, I'd be a way further along the path.

My feeling is that it'll take me about twenty hours to do it my way.

This is the only game i can play together with my wife!

We are loving it,going thru the game slowely, trying to find all hidden artifacts etc etc.

I do most of the shooting, she does most of the finding stuff bits.

Loving this game, nice story and feel to it!!

Spy.

About 18 hours on Normal difficulty. That includes finding every secret in the game + collecting every single document, gps caches, and Relics, treasure maps and completing all the challenges, on my own which is really easy.

Now I'm having fun in on line 👍 it's fantastic.

Thinking about getting this game. Never played any of the other Tomb Raider game though. Just wondering if there is any timed parts in the game? I really hate when you need to get something done in a certain amount of time

Yes, there are some tombs in the game where you are required to pull something / switch on / something and then in short amount of time do some jumping / climbing. There are also quick time events where you are required to push a button in right time.

If you never played Tomb Raider game before this won't surprise you how this game is different from previous once, but didn't loose any of old good TR spirit. If you played Uncharted game then it might be a little shock, how it's close to Naughty Dog creation. But in a good way.

I believe that all of the tombs you raid require you to solve a puzzle in order to progress. There's a prime example of this a few pages back in the video showing the first fifteen minutes of gameplay. According to many reviews, most of the tombs are fairly remote, and you will need to explore the island to be able to find them, but they're all worth it because they contain artifacts and tasty upgrades for your weapons and character. On top of that, more tombs will be made available through DLC.
