I've just finished main story line. All i can say is this. Lara Croft boarded the "Endurance" ship to embark on Uncharted waters 👍

I have strong feeling that if only not Last of US, the Tomb Raider 2013 might be game of the Year even. This is going to be great year for adventure lovers :sly:
I still only have a few hours into this but I agree Tomb Raider 2013 is easily a contender for GOTY 2013. Amazing game so far.

I believe that all of the tombs you raid require you to solve a puzzle in order to progress. There's a prime example of this a few pages back in the video showing the first fifteen minutes of gameplay. According to many reviews, most of the tombs are fairly remote, and you will need to explore the island to be able to find them, but they're all worth it because they contain artifacts and tasty upgrades for your weapons and character. On top of that, more tombs will be made available through DLC.

I would only add to this that Tombs are not mandatory to finish the game, you don't have to visit them and you can skip those places. But then you will loose a lot of Exp points and for this reason you may have to look for those elsewhere, like killing a lot of animals and island hostile castaway. Tombs are great places to earn easy Exp points. Those puzzles are quite easy to solve.

And they are fun - well, so far they are. I'm not so keen on the killing of animals for xp - I'd rather do that in FC3 where at least you have a reason to kill them because they attacked you first.

I bought a copy of the game today (plus a console), which came with a fourteen-day trial for XBox Live. Does anybody know the DLC schedule by any chance? I'd like to pick up as many of the challenge tombs as possible (if not all of them), but I don't want to waste the fourteen-day trial period by only getting half of them.

I didn't hear any of challenge tombs DLC, is this like new maps for on line matches or is it like new Challenge Tombs in single player campaign where you find extra Exp points? Cause we could use some extra exp also in multi player.

They'll be out on 19th for Xbox: First DLC Pack

Looks like they'll be MP only though. I think SP will be getting some extra tombs later, as there are definitely areas currently blocked off which look intriguing.

Have fun in the meantime and I'll give a shout when the SP DLC is announced.

I think I'ma buy myself a copy (PC) in afew hours. All the positive reviews make me not want to waste anymore time to play this one.

I still don't know if I'll wait for a price drop or get it now, but everyone seems to be enjoying it

If scavenging one DLC Tomb would last at least few hours it wold be manic  :D  I want mazes, puzzles and some more horrific monsters. I've already finish main story but i want more, so much more.

Who's to say that more won't be coming later on? :sly: Wouldn't be the first time a game has received more DLC than originally planned because the game had a good reception.

What really shocked me is that after finishing main story line there is an option to go back to almost all those places. But there is no one there, island is almost deserted. There are only animals there. :grumpy: I've meet few enemies along the way but after i kill them they are gone for good. Like in real life :guilty:

Yes, I got the impression that a few stray soldiers will crop up as I literally bumped into a few at the mountain village when I went back looking for things.

I think it's really well handled.

I get the feeling that enemies only spawn once over the course of the game. I just got to the top of the waterfall, but decided to double back to the coastal forest region to search for some salvage and items. When I got back up to the waterfall, the enemies I'd killed the first time through hadn't re-spawned.

I like that. It gives the sense that enemies are actually there for a reason, and not simply a collection of polygons to wip out in order to progress to the next section of the game.

My island is now empty, only chickens, rabbits, few boar's and some Bambi's to kill. No human enemies, just like it suppose to be in real life.

Argh, I accidentally deleted my save game!

I set my Xbox up on a new television, but all the colours were funny. Reds changed to green and greens to yellow; Lara was a faint purple in colour. I was going through the setting on the system, trying to change the in-game profile, and accidentally deleted my save.

I don't mind, though. I'm really enjoying the game, but the problem is that it took me quite a while to get used to the controls (especially when in combat, and the camera), so I kind of lost track of what I was supposed to be doing and why. Now that I'm comfortable with them, I can up the difficulty setting and actually pay attention this time around.

I am a few hours in and really like it so far.

The hair animation is awesome. gives so much more live to the caracter, it's insane. It still glitches (having an nvidia card), but still awesome tech.

Can't wait for the new gen to start. I want every caracter with hair like that.

You should have pretended she was a Na'vi explorer, well, almost :sly: That does sound like bad news though.

I'm at about 22 hours in and the story just keeps on going. There has been a lot of thought put into making levels that are intrinsically the same, different. I won't specify due to spoilers, but those who have played it will know what I mean.

It isn't that short a campaign after all and dare I say it, the game is actually better than Uncharted 3. The gameplay mechanics are very intuitive, forgiving and with nothing being automatically highlighted, it is a pleasure to play.

How can you tell how many hours you have? I am guessing I have around 8-10 hours. Decided to re-rent the game so I can hopefully finish it up this week. So far its easily one of the best games of 2013. Just keeps getting better and better every level.

You can't, as far as I'm aware - sorry. There is a percentage mention somewhere, but no cumulative total. I just counted up my approximate game sessions so far - ten hours last night, nine a few days ago and about three hours inbetween.

It does keep getting better with some good pacing.

Anyone found Gollum yet?

Anyone found Gollum yet?

He hides in Geothermal Caverns :sly:

Few trophies are to be achieved on second run through the game. Like 1. Shoot 10 enemies from zip line and 2. Incapacitate 25 enemies with dodge counter. Although second one could be done first time when

Samurai warriors start to attack you in large numbers on very last level in the game

That's right :) I laughed so hard at that 👍

I'd imagined that a few trophies would take a second playthrough to gather. I frankly found that odd about FC3 where I had them all by the end of the first playthrough (bar the co-op ones)

I continued to play the campaign last night and didnt realize how close I was to the end. 9 minutes later the game was over. Overall wonderful game from beginning to end. Easily a contender for GOTY 2013.

I will probably play at least 1 or 2 rounds of the multiplayer tonight. Thats if it doenst have an online pass. I mainly rented this game for the campaign. So I am not too concerned with the mp.

The percentage I mentioned relates to things found as well - so that can be a bit misleading. I have a friend who was at 90% when he completed the game, he hadn't found a few of the GPS caches and such.

EDIT: Thank you Crystal Dynamic - a job well done. I have just completed the game and had a thoroughly great time :) 👍

Once I can reconnect to PSN I'll be giving online a go for sure.

Well, I just finished the main storyline of the game. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I'm disappointed that it's over - which, to me, is always the mark of a great game. I finished it off with 84% completed, so now I just need to go back and find the last few documents, GPS caches and the odd relic, and finish off most of the challenges.

After that, I think I might play through and do a no-upgrade challenge - no weapon upgrades, no skill points and the difficulty set to hardest.

Tomb Raider won't receive any DLC for single player. Crystal Dynamics & Square Enix only works on multi player add ons.

No tomb new tombs to visit, no new island places do uncover 👎 :dopey: :yuck:

That's disappointing. I know there's a bonus tomb - the Tomb of the Lost Adventurer - somewhere in the Coastal Forest region, but it was only available to those who pre-ordered the game over Steam. I've seen a video of it on YouTube, and it's actually quite a complex (though not too challenging) puzzle.

I'm not really sure what they could do in terms of new regions, anyway. That would require a narrative to drive the game forward, and the main plot is tied off pretty nicely by the end of the game. Nor is there really anywhere for those additional tombs to go.

I'd honestly prefer it if they just went on to making a sequel.

Yes me to, until up to yesterday i was really exited about some extra Single player Tombs to scavenge, but now I'm just devastated because i don't care about on line in games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider.

I've finished this game twice, with English Language and in my native language, but original is always the best 👍

I think i can sell now my copy of this game and focus on another Great game :) Bioshock Infinite

Don't sell it. Go back and play it again - but this time, set the difficulty to hardest, don't upgrade your weapons, and don't spend skill points (just to be safe, don't enter base or day camps to avoid the automatic upgrades).

Meanwhile, I was surprised to learn that that Yamatai was actually a real place, and that Himiko was a real queen there, and that the myths of her having shamanistic powers were real myths. The game obviously takes a lot of creative licence with it, but I thought the writers had simply invented the place, rather than research it fully.

It makes me wonder what other obscure folklore the writers could use for the basis of a future game. There's a mountain in central Russia, Kholat Syakhl, that has a rather uneasy past to its name, which could make for an interesting setting.

wow I've jsut start playing it now that the new drivers and update are up and my god it's stunning. What a great game, so far I'm enjoying it a lot.
