I find it weird that they didnt made the original costume yet.
I dont find any of those costume interesting, but that's my opinion.

Ahh, people forgot about times when all these so called "DLC's" was included in the games as hidden options, cheat codes, bonuses for completion the game at a harder levels, etc.

Care to elaborate? I don't think I've heard one bad thing about the game until this.

Well, the graphics were brilliant, but that's all, in my opinion.. it just felt so stale to me, the story was mediocre, didn't bond with any of the characters, not even Lara.

Then there's the level design, well it was well done but dull.. not that this is always a bad thing, but in this case felt like I was running back and forth, doing the same thing, shooting stuff..

I'd give it a 5 out of 10.. has it's moments but.. I was just disappointed.

I wonder if you really played the game. Some of your commentary make no sens to me.

Everyone has their opinion, but a 5/10 is pretty insulting to the game imo, the game is an outstanding achievement for next gen gaming and has totally revamped the series for me anyway

I don't mean to insult anyone, the developers did a great job with many things, the game just didn't stand out for me. 5/10 just means average.

fair dos, just wondering what you'd consider a decent game then, tr is pretty darn good considering the current crop on the market at the mo

Well... Uncharted, Bioshock Infinate, Skyrim...I could list many others but it's off topic. I plan on playing Tomb Raider through a 2nd time, sometimes you miss things I suppose.

It's very easy to miss things in the game. Although when I played through a second time, I didn't find that much that I hadn't discovered previously.

Well, fair enough, it's your opinion.

Odd that you rate Uncharted higher though, as I felt TR was a better game than U3. It felt so akin to U2 but with U3's graphics and without the 'alien eyes' look that Elena had in that game :sly:

But yeah, that's my opinion. I hope you enjoy the second playthrough better.

I've finished Tomb Raider with 100%, and i did platinum. Now I'm trying do the same with Bioshock Infinite. I still think Tomb Raider is better game, despite Infinite had higher notes than new Lara adventures.

I like also Uncharted series, which has something tomb raider never had. It's this sens of humor. Chatter between Drake and Sully, but this is rather obvious since Drake has he's companion and Lara always was alone in her adventures.

Argh, I'm trying to get one of the achievements where you have to talk to every member of the Endurance crew and hear every conversation with them. I though I'd gotten them all, but I must have missed one somewhere. These are the ones I have:

- Whitman at the gate before you get captured by the Solarii for the first time.
- Roth in the village before you go after the pack.
- Roth in the village after you get the pack.
- Roth in the village after you escape the plane crash.
- Jonah, Reyes, Sam and Whitman on the beach before you go to get Alex.
- Jonah, Reyes and Whitman on the beach before you go to the general's tomb.

There must be some somewhere along the line that I missed.

There are 7 of those conversations.

It looks like you talk to Whitman only once. You have to talk to him before searching 50 pieces of salvage, and after. Before you repair your Axe. Once you repair Axe this option disappears.

#1 - Before searching for 50 pieces of salvage, talk to Whitman.
#2 - After finding the 50 pieces of salvage, talk to Whitman again (do not repair the Axe yet!)
#3 - After helping Roth (where the wolves attack him), talk to Roth.
#4 - Shortly after getting the Rope Arrows you will meet Roth again. Talk to him before using the zipline.
#5 - When reaching the shipwreck beach you will meet your friends. Talk to Sam, Reyes and Jonah.
#6 - Before going to the Endurance to help Alex and get the tools, talk to Whitman, Sam, Jonah and Reyes at the beach camp. Reyes is on the boat.
#7 - After coming back from the Endurance, talk to Whitman, Reyes and Jonah.

Personally, I'd rate Uncharted (all of them) higher than the new Tomb Raider. I really enjoyed this reboot but I feel it isn't up to the standard of Uncharted. I think Uncharted did a better job of fleshing out multiple characters (as well as having a very good sense of humor) where Tomb Raider only really fleshed out Laura and the rest of the "crew" were kind of just there.

Still, the game is great and definitely one of my favorites this year.

Yeah, I only spoke to Whitman once.

And it looks like I might have missed one of the Shipwreck Beach conversations (just realised that you can't talk to Roth before you get his pack, since he's unconscious). I've seen the cut-scene where Sam accidentally fires the gun on the PT boat, but I must have missed something along the way.

Agreed that the Uncharted series is very good, better with regard to the characters (I think Cutter is great, as are so many others like Eddy Raja.) I just found the gameplay menchanics to be a lot smoother in TR over U which was quite glitchy or overly specific in some areas.

So on balance, maybe Naughty Dog are still my favourite :)

Good to hear you two like Uncharted series. This means we all three should be blown away by "Last of Us".

prisonermonkeys
Yeah, I only spoke to Whitman once.

Seems like i Envy your second run in Tomb Raider, mine was a real blast i had such a good time, despite I've already knew what to expect. So i had a chance to use different tactics against all enemies. More blood were shed :) And i did it to do missing trophies like chatterbox and killing zip line enemies and few others.

Absolutely. In fact, I have The Last of Us Post-Pandemic Edition on pre-order.

I'll be starting a new playthrough of Tomb Raider soon. My wife enjoyed watching the first time and I'm going to try to convince her to actually play it this time. I'll be there to help, of course. :)

Oh, I used the environment a lot more in my second play-through, but I did find it a little disappointing because I could remember where most of the enemies were, and when I knew there was a big, scripted fight coming up, I could get into position into advance.

And for some reason, the difficulty didn't get set properly. So I thought I was playing it on Hard and doing very well for myself, when I was really just playing it on Easy.

Oh yes, I have that pre-ordered too. For me I think it will be the best game this year. I just hope we can turn hints off like we could with Uncharted. The glowing blue hints we saw in the trailers would spoil it a bit for me.

I still haven't started my second playthrough, though I hope to sometime soon, just not for the next month or so...

I ended this game. I loved it!
I have always been a fan of Tomb Raider series, but after the fifth game, the only game I liked to play was Anniversary, and after playing Uncharted trilogy, I thought Tomb Raider was dead. I was so WRONG.
This new Tomb Raider is wonderful.
Lara Croft is better than ever, the badass girl with huge boobs, is now a young girl with feelings. Lara Croft now cries, feels pain, is a "real person". Is trapped at an crazy island without gadgets, only a bow. I felt a great empathy for this "new" Lara Croft.
The Yamatai island was well done, at the start, I felt I was at Lost Island, but after a couple hours I saw a unique and amazing island.
The graphics are top, and the gameplay is very fluid. The levels are quite big, sometimes I felt, that I was in a sandbox game.
The action in Tomb Raider was better than Uncharted 2 and 3. I don't want say spoilers.:sly:
I spent over 20 hours and still left me 15% to complete the game.
The bad things this game has is:
-I played in Hard difficult, and don't feel the game so hard, when I finished I was looking for a Survivor difficult and didn't find:tdown:.
-The multiplayer mode is a bad copy of uncharted multiplayer.
Tomb Raider doesn't need a competitive multiplayer mode. A co-op mode like Resident Evil 5, or Dead Island, were better. I preferred CD had spend her time on singleplayer instead on multiplayer. They could had added more 5 hours on singleplayer, if they didn't made multiplayer.
Overall Tomb Raider is a great game and so far is for me the GOTY'13 and one of the best games of this generation.(Yes I have played Bioshock Infinite and The Last of us).

Yeah, fantastic game. Gameplay is much better than Uncharted. The setting and stuff she faces is really well done.
Only bad things are other character animations well below Naughty Dog, so is the dialogue in the scenes. I've lost interest in story elements but the gameplay and challenges/testing times for a young Lara is enough.

Next-gen Tomb Raider sequel in development

Phil Rogers
Square Enix is in production with a number of next generation projects, including Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III, which were announced at this year’s E3, and Thief coming in 2014. I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently!

In the future, we’ll offer gamers more choice, support more platforms and try new things – but we will make sure that whatever the platform, we’ll always keep our focus on raising the quality bar. We feel that is what gamers should expect from a Square Enix game.

I’ve spent the past few months building a senior team in the Americas and Europe to support our new and evolving strategy. We plan to share a fuller title release plan with you soon on games ranging from next-gen blockbusters (the above mentioned Tomb Raider sequel) to new cutting-edge tablet and mobile games (such as the recently released Deus Ex: The Fall), to live and online PC games (our now in beta Heroes & Generals).
