True, and speed limiters. Don't laugh, an OZ mag called motor (IIRC) did a comparison of the latest holden and ford performance sedans. For some reason the fords all topped out at 230 km/h, as specified by the manufacturer. And yet they still had to measure it, just in case! :rolleyes:
 
ford dont allow there cars go over 230km/h, because they are worried about them falling apart

But it's not the awd system that's helping it get there. Top speed is basically a function of aerodynamics and power, rather than traction.

I know its not the AWD system that help its top speed, in mather of fact the AWD system slow its top speed down more. We all know in a AWD car it is better at take off but slower at rolling starts and top speed. Heres an example an Evo VIII can smoke a 350Z from stop, but if they we're rolling at 80mph the 350z would have a better chance. 350Z top speed is better than the EVO VIII. But yeah Top speed is about aerodynamics i know but i still think the ZZII can beat the S7 not because of the AWD but that since its better in 1/4mile then the S7 and probably better in a mile run and such i would think that S7 would probably beat him at the end if not lose. ZZII have great aerodynamics and their gears are wonderful!

Thats my opioin you may think differently.

I think ur talking about the governer on the car, or what ever its called. Well yeah if they top at 230 then there is a gov. on the car but i understand that there is a wire that you can cut or sumthing.. get rid of somehow that take the gov. off. im not sure how and where to get it done but i think its illegal :banghead:
 
i have never actually herd of the falcons being limited
as for disabling it, i doubt it would be as easy as cutting a wire. it would be built into the ECU and it would have to be edited. maybe the fords are just geared to 230km/h and they hit rev limiter at 230

Unless the attesa turns off at higher speed, yet another thing I have to find out about.
 
skyline......You don't really know how the ZZII's system works do you? For all you know they could have the atessa reprogrammed to only give power to the left wheels instead of the right wheels...........No one on this forum really knows jack crap about the schematics of the ZZII.....I don't know crap.....I know the RB26DETT is mounted backwards..I know it's AWD...and features some nissan schiet....other than that......it's a huge mystery..

I voted for the Saleen, as I've got more of a chance of driving that one than I do the ZZII. Let's say a 0.0% on the ZZII, and a 0.001% on the Saleen. :D

well if it is ATTESA then I know how it works. If they reprogram it then they would not call it that. Why would they give credit to nissan for their own programming. I also found out the unless the rear wheels are slipping the GTR will remain in RWD. So, at top speed the ZZII is in RWD not AWD.

That's a shame they're not even selling them. I voted for it anyway though;)

What you guys were talking about about top speed... Even with the same engine power, weight, gearing, and aerodynamics, a RWD car will go faster than an AWD car. Because there's more drivetrain loss on the AWD car. Another reason why I thnk all horsepower numbers should be at the wheels, not at the crank. I don't know if ATTESSA shuts off at certain times though, and if it does, whether or not that eliminates the drivetrain loss.
 
yes it turns off as it is not needed at high speeds and yes it elminates drivetrain loss.
 
YEah its like 0 to the front and 100 to back right? Its possible to make full RWD right?

it starts in 100% RWD and will stay 100% RWD unless the wheels are slipping then it can go 50-50 or 25-75 or any combination between 0-100 and 50-50. once the wheels stop sliping its RWD again.
 
Who exactly did tests on them? Where is this information coming from?
 
nobody: there all factory claims...
i picked the saleen s7 cuz its a more realistic car. once again the engine and the awd system is wayy to overrated, if i didnt want my tires slipping, id get a subaru wrx sti or a new range rover.

Well gee....I'm pretty sure that Tommy Kaira, one of the most legendary automotive shops in Japan, would have had the foresight to put a LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL on the car if they had wanted to make it MR. Besides, MR creates a 50-50 weight distribution, equating to LESS tractionless wheelspin.

And BTW, the JGTC Supras' make about 500 HP and this is all transmitted to the rear wheels. They also make this power consistently for anywhere from 50-100 laps at a time.:grumpy:
 
All cars in the JGTC are RWD if I remember correctly. And just because a car has the engine behind the cabin, doesnt meant that it has 5050 distribution. Sorry. And we dont know WHAT THE HELL the car has because NOBODY has driven it outside of tommy kaira.

Th GTR had the atessa however nissan has retired the GTR forom the JGTC to run the Z.
