Yes it is in the wrong forum, my apologies :nervous:

Apologies, was meaning to add a couple of :):). I just find it entertaining how this thread works, wasn't meaning to make an issue of it being in the wrong place.

/How's that for tone? :)

Actually I'm not exactly a calm guy and I always end up writing what comes to my mind, I'm not an senior member despite of my absurd number of posts ( It's because I get a little bit "idle" at work sometimes of the day  ).

I felt that "Difficulty in accepting new members" as you pointed when I joined the forums, however, I can understand clearly why everybody gets pissed off when a newcomer goes and create a thread about a given subject which has a dedicated thread and this very same thread was merged with many other threads because other newcomers came before and created threads regarding the same boring subject again. It's just a matter of reading the "Read this before creating a new thread" I did it when joined and it taught me to use the Search button, easy, simple and avoids unnecessary headaches.

Let me give my vision of this thread in a way everyone can understand:

- Imagine GT5 development process as a powerful engine.
- Imagine GTP as a turbocharger, which gets any remaining info which would be wasted and feedback it to the GT engine, giving it a new power despite of dimension of the whole thing.
- Imagine the moderators and Senior members as Wastegates, they control how fast this turbocharger spins.
- Imagine the Active members( myself included) as the air/fuel mixture. They give life to GTP, a forum is made of people after all. ;)

So, in this complex turbo system, the newcomers are often the blow-off valves.

Not sure if everyone will get what I meant, but if there's a post that's off topic it's this one. :nervous: This is not related to Unicorns, supernovas, phoenixes or whatever. Internal Combustion FTW. :dopey:

OP i know exactly what you are talking about and i have had similar thoughts since i joined the forum. The problem is the demographic that read/post on the forums. As an example, i am an avid golfer and also use a popular golfing forum, strangely enough the conversations there are quite civil and disagreements are quickly resolved.

The problem with a video game forum is that the intellect and age of the users is much lower, i hate to sound like a total a## but that is the simple fact.

Well, given that the average age of a gamer these days is anywhere from mid 20s to mid 30s depending on what part of the world you take your measurement, I think that's a bit of an unfair generalisation. So, would you include yourself in the statistic of being young and stupid, given that you joined a video game forum?

Don't get me wrong, I know what you are trying to get across, and I agree that this type of forum may attract more younger people than older due to its nature. However, because this is a site/forum dedicated to Gran Turismo, and lack of news regarding content and release is getting beyond a joke, that has a lot to do with the state of things at the moment.

The problem with a mean measurement is it gives you no idea of the spread...

A few unruly immature members among the thousands (perhaps) of "sensible" / morally responsible members can wreak some serious havoc, and give us all a bad name.

What's the rule on noobs starting threads? How about a 50 post minimum before you can start a new thread?

Yes, I know I asked somebody to take an iPhone discussion to the correct forums - so I'm a hypocrite too! ;)

It was the way you asked, it was only a throw away comment. It was in the E3 thread and the post in question had a link the the Sony interview about E3.

Maybe you could continue to argue your point on this across every thread on the forum?

To be honest I think there is such a lack of real news a lot of the threads are redundant.

Just wanted to say **** You!

Thanks for the laugh though!

Due to your PM, it took me a while to decide where to post this. I hope you don't mind it being here.

You say that, but I'm sure I would have got backlash regardless, just because nobody likes to be told what to do. Besides, I don't see why you felt the need to take it personally, as I was referring to the entire iPhone discussion, not just your post, and I was not exactly aggressive. Still, forums will be forums!

Anyway, to be fair Skidmark, I left that iPhone "episode" behind pretty much after it turned sour. I merely made a humorous reference to it afterwards, ONCE, in my original reply to the OPs thread, where I made light reference to the thread being somewhat hypocritical regarding the policing thing. I really don't see how that constitutes me wanting to argue my point across every thread, do you? At the end of the day I'm not the one calling you out and perpetuating things any more than is necessary.

Now, in light of your PM, I take on board what you said, and I am more than happy to call it a truce and reciprocate the apology. Like you, I could have worded things differently I'm sure, but we are all human, and we are all starved of GT5 news! To that end, I'm absolutely positive that's the reason why the forums are in the state they are, and is also the reason why the mods are being reasonable in letting a lot of the threads (like this one) stay open. We all need somewhere to release our GT5 frustration, for better or worse!

Cheers! 👍

-> ...
4. Countless posts here that are absolutely a waste of server space and brain power to read. i. e. "What other car, truck, boat, RV, spacecraft, etc do you want in GT5?" 20 bazillion "wish lists."
^ FYI, not much people are that bothered on my VWL. :)

I'm hopeful that nerves settle and soothe here over the weekend, with the kids and grownups both going out for their day or two of fun.

Guys (n gals), I know that it blows that GT5 is so close to release, you can almost taste the cleaning solution running over those Blu-rays as they come off the line... YUCK! :p News is probably going to be skimpy for the next two months as E3 looms closer. Twiddling thumbs can be a drag while waiting on what for some of us is the most anticipated game ever.

But hey, it's only nine weeks or so. Last year, it did pass, almost before I knew it. For some, it was a small eternity, but it did pass like a kidney stone. And we excitedly watched as Kazunori held up that PSP in quaking hands, looking like he was ready to cry...

Okay, maybe that's the wrong way to remember last year. ;) But this year, we do have a different situation to look forward to. Most of the work is done. I believe the different spokeshumans for the various SCEs around the globe when they say big news is coming soon. GT PSP is done, and there's no Forza launch to disrupt. When E3 begins, Polyphony will have put an additional nine months' work into GT5, possibly six years worth of work total.

Kazunori has said to expect surprises. We were surprised over several details of GT4, even after news had been dribbling out for the better part of a year. One pleasant one was Photo Mode. We were surprised over the revelations just with Prologue, such as the licensing of Ferrari, and having up to 16 car on track, even online!

The Master seems upbeat about something, and he's been keeping a lot of secrets from us. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty excited. It's only a few more weeks.

Im not blaming a certain age-group in general. Actually i i have worked as security/bouncer for a long time, and while I see youngsters more often, its the old guys who make the biggest noice :)

Im neither in the teens or twenties, but my experience says that doesn't matter much on the internet. Its the anomyti thats the problem. Im not so naive, that i think a simple post like this will help. But i was uncertain if it was only me thinking things had turned a bit lateley :)

Sorry for bad spelling, gramar etc *
