There should be nothing in here any newer than five years old.

Be critical. Just because it's your favorite doesn't make it great. Consider the history of music.

Not in any order...

1. Kraftwerk - Autobahn
2. The Beatles - Rubber Soul
3. Stereolab - Transient Random Noise Bursts with Announcements.
4. Led Zeppelin - II
5. The Cars - Candy-O

Erm, maybe I should've made it top 10.

1.Black Sabbath - Reunion
2.Floyd - The Wall
3.GnR - Appetite for Destruction
4.Led Zeppelin - II
5.Alice in Chains - Dirt:rockon:

Why shouldn't there be anything newer than five years? I can think of one album that is less than 5 years old but deserves to be on the list.

Pink Floyd - The Wall
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
The Beatles - Rubber Soul
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Radiohead - OK Computer

Well, I guess there are a few select bands that could cut it. Radiohead being one. But in general newer stuff hasn't stood the test of time.

GNR
J/K But it reminds me of dropping off my suicidal first girlfriend at school in the morning. But yeah, it got staying power.

Hey, I'm a huge GnR fan, so I'm a little biased so what? :p

At least I didnt put them #1:D

1. Pink Floyd - the wall

can't put the others in order but my personal favs are

Coldplay - parachutes
Coldplay - Rush of blood to the head
Manic st preachers - This is my truth tell me yours
Prodigy - Fat of the land

That's my 5 favourite albums that I listen to most, say what you like I don't care :p

Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano Concerto (Ashkenazy/London Philharmonic)
Depeche Mode: Violator
The Prodigy: Music for the Jilted Generation
New Order: Substance 1987
Radiohead: The Bends

Those two are in my Top 5 too, together with three albums from a Dutch duo: Acda en de Munnik.

I forgot about

Genesis- Invisible touch ... only the 2 smoochies that I don't like .

And.... Limp Bizkit - Significant other :D

1 - The Joshua Tree
2 - Born in the USA
3 - The Best That I Could Do (Mellencamp; because I can't choose just one)
4 - Nebraska
5 - Forever Blue

I wouldn't be able to pick 5 I don't think, but either Radioheads the Bends or Ok computer would be in there for sure along with Pink Floyds The Wall.

1) Jimi Hendrix - Are you Experienced?

2) Nirvana - Nevermind

3) Red Hot Chili Peppers - Mother's Milk

4) Violent Femmes - Self Titled

5) Beastie Boys - License to Ill

I think those 5 albums are generally the most influential when looking at modern rock. Unfortunately, most modern rock sucks ;)

Last summer I was at a (very tame) bachelor party. When we all returned to the host's house he suggested somebody put in a CD so I went over, found Beastie Boys and put it in.

Big mistake. I couldn't believe how wierd they all thought I was for choosing that.

I got a lot of :thatsodd:

And I felt pretty :thatsodd: about that.

Doofuses. It's great drinking music.

In no order:

Beastie Boys - Check Your Head
This is when they matured just the right amount and started to play instruments. They started to realize the world isn't just about them, it's about so much more.

Orbital - In Sides
I really dig this album because it's very much an all-purpose album to me. I can relax to it, play video games to it, get stuck in traffic to it, do homework to it. It's one album anti-electronic music fans seem to like if I'm playing it, incidently.

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
The first jazz album I ever heard. This was recorded around 1960, and is really a milestone in music history. Words don't accurately describe how wonderful this album is.

Pearl Jam - No Code
By no means their most popular album; the critics slammed it, fans said it stunk, but it's not on my list as any sympathy vote. The feelings and vibe given off by this album struck a chord with me; but it's still a very personal album (to Eddie Vedder, at least) with nothing really left out, yet well said thoughout.

Antonin Dvorak - New World Symphony
This symphony is an adventure, plain and simple. A journey of life and love, chasing and being chased. Hauntingly beautiful, as I like to say.

...and the next 5 another day?

2. Anthrax- Volume 8
3. Sublime- Sublime
4. AC/DC- Back In Black
5. Pantera- Cowboys From Hell

Nice list! But 40oz to Freedom is a better Sublime album IMHO

1. Pink Floyd-The Wall
2. Pink Floyd-Dark Side of the Moon
3. AC/DC-Back in Black
4.Bad Company-Merchants of Cool
5. Pink Floyd- Echoes

I'm kinda partial to Pink Floyd myself, but I really like stuff by Bad Company, AC/DC and Dire Straits among others. The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon are my two most favorite cds though; I listen to them all the time.

 I like the way you feel it necessary to write "I'm kinda partial to Pink Floyd" after putting three Pink Floyd albums in your top five albums list!

There are better albums in my collection but the ones that have had the most profound effect on me are.

1. AC/DC - Back in Black
2. Faith No More - The Real Thing
3. Nirvana - Nevermind
4. Foo Fighters - There is nothing left to lose
5. Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X

Honourable mentions to The Damned, RATM, Chilies, and Motorhead. Especially Motorhead and The Damned who i absolutely hated leaving off my top 5 but i can't think of an actual album that i really rate by either of them. Although Ace of Spades...... hmmmm. Oh and Pink Floyd' Wish you were here.... Damn there's so many.

OK, I can't really do this as the Top 5 Albums of All Time. I have to do it as the 5 albums I'd take to the proverbial desert island. I'm also not counting "Best Of" albums because that's cheating. If you were asking the '5 most influential' albums or something like that, I'd have a very different list.

1) Stevie Ray Vaughn: Couldn't Stand The Weather

2) Nine Inch Nails: The Downward Spiral

3) Tool: Aenima

4) Led Zeppelin: Zoso (IV)

5) Red Hot Chili Peppers: Blood Sugar Sex Magick

Led Zeppelin... something. it's a hard choice.
nirvana - nevermind
metallica - master of puppets
GnR use your illusion 1/2
radiohead sucks.

( based on facts, shows, media, sites, ranks, people )

1. EAGLES-Hotel California

2. Guns N' Roses-Appetite for Destruction

3. U2-The Joshua Tree

4. BEATLES-The Beatles (White Album)

5. BEATLES-Abbey Road

6. PINK FLOYD-Dark Side Of The Moon

7. BEATLES-Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

8. AC/DC-Back In Black

9. PINK FLOYD-The Wall

10. METALLICA-Metallica

11. FLEETWOOD MAC-Rumours
12. Nirvana-Nevermind

13. ELTON JOHN-Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

14. SANTANA-Santana

15. BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN-Born In The U.S.A.

16. METALLICA-Master Of Puppets
17. AC/DC-Highway To Hell

18. SIMON & GARFUNKEL-Bridge Over Troubled Waters

19. LED ZEPPELIN-Untitled (IV)

20. LED ZEPPELIN-Led Zeppelin

21. QUEEN-Sheer Heart Attack
22. PEARL JAM-Ten

23. U2-War

24. BEACH BOYS-Pet Sounds

25. AEROSMITH-Pump

so the top five would be...

1. EAGLES-Hotel California

2. Guns N' Roses-Appetite for Destruction

3. U2-The Joshua Tree

4. BEATLES-The Beatles (White Album)

5. BEATLES-Abbey Road

No kidding. The next three albums are better than the first two by lots ... and lots.

I believe it was Rolling Stone who did a top 100 a while back. The Beatles and U2 had more than half of the top 10 albums. Ha ha ha, Americans can't make music for **** (:

1. A Perfect Circle-Mer de noms
2. Rage against the machine- The Battle of Los Angeles
3.Stonesour-Stonesour
4. Murderdolls-Beyond the vally of the murderdolls
5. Tool-Laturalus
6. Static X-Machine
7. PM5K-Tonight the stars revolt
8. System of a down-System of a Down
9.Audio Slave- Audio Slave
10. Staind- 13 shades of gray
11. Evanescence- Fallen
12. Mudvayne-The end of everything to come
13.Slipknot-Iowa
None of these in any real order. I don't dislike any songs on any of these CDs.
