Top Gear Comparason #10: Classic Microcar

Each of you was given 24,000cr and sent to the 1980's used car lot to find a classic microcar.

Nazzii was first to arrive in a Mitsubishi Minica Dangan ZZ '89 that had cost him just 3,562cr, scoring him 20 points.
superspeed pulled up soon after in a Nissan PAO '89 that at 5,389cr had scored him 18 points.
fabmaru also went with Nissan, a Nissan Be-1 '87 with just 10.0 Km on the clock cost him 10,990 for 13 points.
BH-21 also went for an eighties model, a Honda TODAY G '85 for a bargain 2,344cr scores him 21 points.
korza493 then arrived in an ancient Honda S800 '66. A true classic, it cost a lot at 20,299cr for just 3 points.
shotamagee then brought in the tiny Honda Z Act '70. A meagre 5,529cr leaves him with 18 points.

driftking18594 arrived alongside Nazzi in his Mitsubishi Minica Dangan ZZ '89. However, he was left
in a bit of a limbo as they couldn't both drive the one car. korza493 came to the rescue when he was called away on business
and left the keys to his Honda S800 '66 behind. All driftking18594 has to do is find where exactly he left them!

Round 2: Drag Race

On arrival at the test track, the first thing usually done is to compare your rides in a drag race.
You will race against each other, the slowest scoring 0 points, 2nd slowest 5 points, then 10, 15, 20 etc.

Sorry I can't run this week, but I'll be back in time for next week though.
 
^ Looking at the time of your post, you'd take a 5 point time penalty in the first round so your score so far would be -3. If you can live with that, then consider that you have just 11 hours left from the time of this post until the end of round 2.

Round 2: Drag Race

You raced against each other for a quarter mile, the slowest scoring 0 points, 2nd slowest 5 points, then 10, 15, 20 etc.

fabmaru with just delivery mileage on his Nissan Be-1 '87 was the fastest with a time of 21.199 taking 20 points.
Nazzii was a fraction of a second slower in the Minica Dangan ZZ '89 with a time of 21.423 to score 15 points.
superspeed then brought in the Nissan PAO '89 to a time of 22.330 for 10 points.
BH-21 was next in his Honda TODAY G '85 with a time of 25.162 for just 5 points.
shotamagee lagged behind in the Honda Z Act '70 with a snails paced 30.058 for 0 points.
driftking18594 seems to have been unable to find the keys to the Honda S800 '66 and has yet to submit a time.

Round 3: Warp Speed

It's back to the test track, and this one will bore you to tears. Run the power and speed: top speed test to find out just how unbearably slow your cars are.
Score 1 point for every mph you manage over the UK motorway speed limit of 70mph. Lose 1 point for every mph you are below the limit.

It took me about 3:30 to run it, but I got the Honda Z Act to 85.60 MPH at the top speed test track.

For the 400m it was 99.9% first gear only, and then with the top speed it was achieved deep into the redline in 2nd, as soon as I changed to 3rd it started losing speed.
 
My S800 (which I had to cycle through the used car dealerships to get, as I only had an S500) managed to do the 400m in 20.960 seconds.

As for top speed, it managed 171.95km/h (106.85mph).
 
My Nissan PAO managed a crawl of 94.46 MPH. I get the feeling I'll end up around 3rd or 4th if things keep going this way, :yuck:.

Round 3: Warp Speed

You were sent back out to the test track to see if your cars could exceed the motorway speed limit.

BH-21 managed to take the Honda TODAY G to a whopping 77.02mph scoring 7 points.
shotamagee was a little quicker in the Honda Z Act at 85.60mph to take 15 points.
superspeed was quicker still in the Nissan PAO with 94.46mph for 24 points.
fabmaru was the first to break 100 in his Nissan Be-1 with 101.65mph for 31 points.
driftking18594 was the fastest in the Honda S800 at 106.85mph for 36 points.
Additionally, he set a standing 400m time of 20.960, also the fastest of anyone.
However, the delay in finding his keys means that he takes an 18 point penalty in that round so scoring just 7 points.
Nazzii appears to have fallen asleep at the wheel as he has yet to post his top speed.



Round 4: Mini Micro Tiny

Just how small are your Microcars? You will be measured alongside the Toyota Sports 800 which is 3610mm in length.
Score 1 point for every inch your car is shorter, lose 1 point for every inch longer.

shotamagee had the tiniest car, the Honda Z Act measuring just 2995mm scores him 24 points.
BH-21 brought a slightly larger car, the Honda TODAY G was 3195mm in length for 16 points.
Nazzii with the equally small Minica Dangan ZZ also at 3195mm takes an identical 16 points.
driftking18594 also has a relatively short car in the Honda S800 which at 3335mm takes 10 points.
fabmaru was right on the limit with the Nissan Be-1 which at 3635mm was 0.98" longer, so scores -0 points.
superspeed was a little less lucky with his Nissan PAO. A slightly longer 3740mm means that he takes -5 points.

Round 5: Around Town

Now that we have seen how woefully slow your cars are on the track, lets see if they are any better on the city streets.
Travel to Opera Paris and run a few laps, posting your best time here.
The Toyota Sports 800 takes just under 2 minutes. You shall attempt to do the same.
Score 1 point for every second under 2 minutes that you take, lose 1 point for every second over 2 minutes.

I'm not too confident on this one since I really bad in opera but I did 1'59.819. That is one point or 0? I want to know :nervous:
 
Sorry guys, i wasn't at home so couldnt post the results of my run :)
Top speed : 94.35 MPH

Didn't tried too much on this, but i got around the town in 2'01.484 :)
 
My best time in the S800 is 1'54.435.

Round 5: Around Town

You were challenged to lap Opera Paris in under 2 minutes scoring 1 point for every second you were faster.

fabmaru was the first to finish in his Nissan Be-1 with a time of 1:59.819 which scores him 0 points.
BH-21 was the next over the line, the Honda TODAY G only managing 2:09.797 for a score of -9 points.
Nazzii couldn't quite match Bob in his Minica Dangan ZZ, a time of 2:01.484 scoring -1 points.
He also managed to achieve a top speed of 94.35mph after an 11 hour nap, so taking 13 points in round 3.
shotamagee brought the tiny Honda Z Act home in a time of 2:08.968 to score -8 points.
driftking18594 was unsurprisingly quick in the Honda S800, a time of 1:54.435 was worth 5 points.
superspeed was last to finish in the Nissan PAO, and was also the slowest at 2:10.101 for -10 points.

Time to turn the Z Act into a nitrous fueled beast, yehaw.

Just to make sure I've got this right,
Orig 24000 + bonus 12000 - car 5529 = 30471 spending money (for me).
 
I've been so busy this week that I keep forgetting the details.:grumpy:

Nitrous and Racing tyres are NOT permitted, but your maths is spot on.

After upgrades, I did couple laps and I was amazed by this little car. More than 32 grand well spent for full 12 seconds improvement :
