Top notch rig for GT7?

Folks, I hope you will be able to help. I am currently considering a possibility of getting a rig. My limit is the space, so I need either something foldable or easily movable. That is my only limit.

I did some research and see that this is one of the options. Not foldable, but portable:

Depends on the wheel you want. I used to have a folding Playseat Challenge and it was great for what it was with my DD Pro (8nm) turned down just a little. I'm pretty big and pretty strong and prefer decently heavy FFB so I had to get a brace for the rig. Space is limited here as well...

I ended up getting the CSL cockpit from fanatec. It's really small, with a tiny footprint and it actually is really stiff. If you want the Fanatec ecosystem I would definitely recommend this setup. Even without casters I can move it around pretty easily.

I suggest spending some time in this part of the forum...

I had a simlab aluminium profile rig in the living room, thanks to casters it is "easily movable" despite it's weight (80+ KG) and size (60cm wide, 160+ cm long).
Nothing beats a 8020 alu profile rig :D

What is the 8020 alu profile rig?
 
... and the challenge is really not bad for what it is (I'm 182cm and roughly 80+ kilos). A low level Direct drive wheel seems to be good in that combo.
 
I've got the Playseat Trophy and I think it's a great piece of kit. It doesn't look much from the pictures but it's really well constructed and very sturdy. The seat maybe looks like a deckchair but is extremely comfortable, molding to your body shape. There's no fatigue from longer sessions. I've combined it with the Logitech G Pro, and at its full 11nm the Trophy is just fine.
Still quite a heavy lump to shift about (especially with the wheel attached) but it's certainly moveable. Depending on where you're going to position it, it's probably more aesthetically pleasing than a 8020 profile rig.
The only possible downside is, if you wanted to add a lot of attachments there's only the extra handbrake and shifter mount available for it.

The G Pro is an excellent quality choice too, I haven't got GT7 but I keep reading that the Trueforce implementation works great giving an extra layer of immersion - which transfers through the Trophy frame very well.
Here's Jordan's review of it using GT7 from a while back. A game changer!

Edit to add that if you have the means, a round wheel is really nice for road cars as well, especially with that base.

I would echo that, especially if you do go for the F1 bundle. That F1 wheel is 270mm while the McLaren GT3 v2 (my everyday wheel) is 300mm. It is a preference thing, but the McLaren is an excellent all-round wheel and very cheap relative to other Fanatec gear.

This is the round wheel I have; I think it is the same as @330_D uses. I've been using it for the current Eiger TT and it was great for the European only snow one we have a while back.
 
@Lightpilgrim, first of all let me say that even I can't wait to upgrade to a proper direct drive kit, but I have a hard time moving on from something that's still working. That being said, I've been using a Thrustmaster T150 since the PS3, which I still use for the PS5. I would recommend you consider it for your first taste at force feedback. Very cheap price point for entry into sim racing.

For the seat rig, I currently have the Playseat Evolution and a foldable wheel/pedal stand. I have both so that my son can use the Playseat while I use the foldable stand when we race each other online in GT7, but I have spent some time using the Playseat. I think it's also a very great price point for a very respectable rig. Very easy to put together and when used correctly, it's sturdy as hell. Also when you want to stash away, the wheel and pedal mounts slide right off from the seat so the two can take up even less space in a corner somewhere.

But for the ultimate portability, my $50 folding wheel/pedal stand can't be beat. It just happens to work so well with the couch I already have in my mancave, so I actually favor it over the Playseat, personally; the Playseat isn't beating a couch in comfort for long term racing. 😁

I just got the Playseat Logitech Trophy and it’s a great cockpit. It’s easy to assemble, the price ($600) was fair and it’s solid as a rock, it holds my G Pro direct drive wheel and pedals just fine, no flex. Its also quite comfortable and is pretty easy to get in and out of.

Ditto, what he said on both counts, both the cockpit and wheel are superb. Love my set up.

I tried the Fanatec GT DD Pro with the 8 nm boost kit. The Logitech is more powerful plus it has the Trueforce tactile feel. The Logitech rim also feels more solid plus it has leather and magnetic paddle shifters. The stock rim with the DD Pro is OK but it feels more like a toy.

For me the ecosystem of fanatec is far superior. Any sort of wheel, decent shifter and handbrake, pedal options and I run the cheapest CSL pedals with a load cell and they are excellent...

I don't think you can go wrong with Logitech at all either, it's just a choice as to whether your want an ecosystem or a pretty singular thing with a few options for customisation.
