Saw it. Not sure that Sonoma was the best place for them to run their first race here. Why not Laguna?

I caught about an hour of it, great! Love to see the old names out there, Menu, Tarquini, etc. And the guy who got 2nd in the BMW evidently came up through the ranks of video gamers? Was kind of sad to see him unable to pass in the final laps despite seeming faster and what with tire wear FR vs FF, looked like not many places to pass on this track.

Jav
Limerock or Watkins Glenn would've been awesome for these cars!

Watkins Glen and I would have gone in person...

WTCC is on Speed now from Infineon/Sonoma. I don't believe it's live, but it did happen some time today.

Can't believe I missed that, dammit:indiff:

Was it at least advertised the entire week?

Robb Holland is proving to be pretty disappointing, I hoped for more than just a token American driver racing in Touring Cars but clearly he's a little out of his depth.
Perhaps a little harsh seeing as he had to race Knockhill of all places for only his second race weekend in BTCC but I expected a little better.

The fact that a very young rookie in Howard Fuller jumped in the same car last weekend and gave some well proven drivers a run for their money only makes it worse.

Seems he isn't much better driving a Cruze at a track I assume he knows already. (does anyone know if he has much experience at Somona?)

I wonder if he's planning to be back in the BTCC for Silverstone? As that track layout is a lot easier than the tracks he's been on so far. For a newbie to touring cars, Snetterton, Knockhill and Somona aren't "easy".

Sonoma ;)

But yeah, was hoping for a little better from Holland. He probably needs a few more races to get into the swing of it, but he certainly hasn't impressed like some young guns who arrive into the series.

Anyone interested in real conversation? As much as I love a random quiz which hasn't been proven not to have viruses... 💡 Let's discuss... That's the point of this thread, right?

What?! How could you forget having just done the 1990s drivers quiz?

I knew he had raced in BTCC, I just forgot he won the title. My memory really only goes as far as 1994/1995. Before that I'm totally reliant on what I've seen on video.

Not much to discuss really. The BTCC thread has taken care of most of the tidbits of BTCC news. WTCC is boring as always and really needs sorting out properly.
Is there any other interesting touring cars series worth mentioning these days?

Rob Huff is 2012 WTCC champion after Macau, sadly weekend was overshadowed by the death of a bike rider in quali for the nike races and a Chevy Cruze driver during practise for one of the touring car events (might have been the WTCC even).

Wasn't in WTCC, still sad. RIP to both.

It's not WTCC; there are 100s of races in Macau during the Macau Grand Prix weekend. Typing in "Macau Grand Prix" into YouTube, generally, will bring results of everything from modified Lancer Evos to Formula cars.

I was wondering how long that was going to last, seeing as they were beaten Tom Boardman's Special Tuning team (not a bad team, but I get the impression that the difference in resources is quite large). I don't understand why they went for WTCC just as they started to find some speed in the BTCC with that Focus.
I mean, I know they wanted to avoid NGTC but they had to build a brand new car for WTCC anyway....

Now Motorbase seemingly have the Ford backing (what little there is, if any) for BTCC so surely that avenue is now closed.

Here are the Munnich Seat's for 2013

Try championship-winning supertouring cars for a different challenge.

Good luck with 1992 and 93.

For someone who never watched the BTCC in the 90's to get 5 correct ain't bad. I got 91', 94', 95', 96 & 97'. Mind you only because I tried to remember the cars that competed.

One where you have to name as many of the 125 driver that have competed in the BTCC in the noughties in 10:00 was tough. I got 35.

Muller does it again. Anyone knows if a private driver already won the WTCC championship ?
