Hi,

I got a Toyota GT1, (I'm not trying to brag or boast, but for comparison purposes) I also have the following Le Mans cars.

Minolta Toyota
Nissan R92
Jaguar XJR'88
Pescarolo Judd 05
Bentley Le Mans
Sauber C9

The Toyota GT1 was the cheapest by far, and in terms of value for money it is very good, however, there are certian points to consider.

My GT1 has high mileage, and although I change the oil on a regular basis it is loosing power slowly but surely. It isnt the most powerful car in the first place, at approximately 800bhp it's has less power than it's rivals.

So although it starts off cheap, I'm going to have to do a 500,000 engine rebuild on it quite soon I think.

Despite it's seemingly lack of power, the Toyota GT1 does have ''an ace up it's sleeve'', and that's it's aerodynamics. when you get in the slipstream of a rival car, the GT1 is in its element. With the correct gearing and downforce settings, AND the appropriate slipstream (or two), I have hit 269mph at Indy in a race, when the GT1 hits 260mph it still accelerates, whereas when I've hit 260mph in the Sauber and Nissan R92 they start to slow a little at this speed.

NOTE: this was with a hgh rpm turbo kit added @ cost of 20,000, which raises power to approximately 900bhp.

I found the handling of the GT1 to be good, I have not done any specific testing but the car does feel good. I rate myself about 7/10 for tuning and driving and am currently at level 35 a spec and 26 b spec.

I use relatively similiar setups for all of my Le mans cars and they all seem to handle ''OK'', the exception being the Bentley which does seem better than the rest.

The only problem I found with the GT1 was grip in the lower gears, all my Le mans cars apart from the Sauber have traction issues in 2nd and 3rd gears, even on Racing Soft tyres. Despite the GT1 having less power than the others, I thought this would mean better grip (it's probably my setup or my heavy 'right foot') but I was a little surprised at how easily the rear wheels span in 3rd gear on the GT1.

Overall, I consider the GT1 as being great value for money, I think it's a bit of a cult car. It may not be as good as a Sauber, but for 2million less and the fact that it's hit 269mph (and still accelerating) it's a firm favourite of mine.

Saubers got the grip and power, Bentleys got the handling and looks, GT1 has got that little something that puts a smile on your face and if you like supporting the underdog, you'll love the GT1.

I did!!

:)

and if you like supporting the underdog, you'll love the GT1.

I don´t think the GT-One is an "underdog" out off all the GT1 class racecars, the best looking and fastest GT1/ GTP car in real for me :) and for the group C, you can take its older brother, the minolta^^

Does the bentley really handle that well? I don´t have it yet and I mean in GT4 it was slower than the R8....and.....ugly

Is the GT one race car also available?? I've seen the gt one stock car, but in GT4 was a race car version as well..

I do believe you win the GT-ONE once you gold the nurburgring or sarthe 24 hour endurance lol, alternatively i have seen one in the UCD and regret not purchasing it :/

No offence, but I wasn't comparing it against GT1 machines, which if I was I'd say it was definately the best - as it was in real life. I was comparing it with le mans cars i.e. group C cars, and in that sense a GT1 car would be an underdog to a group c car, as GT1 cars of that time were ''suposed'' to have had road going versions made, whereas group C didnt and could be out and out racers...

Bentley, I just found this to be the most surefooted car around the last 3rd of Le mans, the fast sweeping turns with a very bumpy track, the Bentley felt very good and definately gave me confidence to push harder..

But like I say, I only rate myself as 7/10 for driving and setup, better drivers and people with a better understanding of setups might feel different.

I also have the 787 mazda and audi r10, but everytime I get to le mans and nurburgring it's raining, so can't do proper comparison...

:(

Was very lucky to get the car with a random ticket early in the game. I have beaten loads of races with it. I love the speed and handling. And due my big experience with the car i can outrun most of my competition online. Even 787b's r10 and those kinds of cars.

And im far from a super driver :)

I prefer the GT-One over any of the others such as the Minolta, R10 etc. While it may be lacking in top speed (slighty), it makes up for it in handling.

I've never been able to adjust to the Minolta Toyota. It doesn't have the feel that I'm looking for. The GT-One feels a lot more stable. Plus, I tend to have more to work with concerning throttle input. The R10 & 908 feel decent, but fall short.

The only problems I have:
1. STANDARD
2. The '99 model is the only one in GT5. I'd love to have myself a '98 version.

I too prefer the GT1 over most of the LMP cars, the faster it's driven, the better it handles and it's just like that in the previous GT series.

+1 The Toyota GT-One is so much fun, fast and handles great. You can really floor it out of the corners and it still very stable and has great traction. Used it in Dream Car and All Stars and it walk away from all of the very easily.

Great write up on this car, thank you very much for it.

anyone have a tune for the GT1? I love that guy and bought it because I loved the way it looks and handles in Forza but I don't see any tunes anywhere for it in this game yet.

So then why don't you head over to practice mode and try to tune it yourself? Getting it right on your own feels great and then you know that the car is perfectly connected to your driving style.

I have no clue when it comes to that stuff when I try it the car ends up driving worst than when it's stock LOL!!

Great review, Highlandor. I have one sitting in my UCD and will now be buying it when my 9-hour Bob endurance race is over.

It's the prize car for the 24hours of Le Mans in Spec B.
