Good work Yeti. See, and people wanted to get rid of concept cars, unbelievable.

Nice to see how it stacks up, I'm curious just how far that CSV gearbox can take it in terms of top speed.
I too. I notice the top speed of the car in the Toyota demo. It reached 171 MPH, and looked like it could go faster than that.

But, I still stand behind on what I said about it's design.

I too think it looks like ass but I think that of a lot of things people adore. They're wrong, but I like to allow them their delusions.

This is a multi-capable car for what I know. And it can seat two people. If you wanted a shot like that, go call up some of the F1 teams for those two and even three-seater (or so I heard) cars.

It's not because they set fast times, that concept cars are nice to drive ... Or isn't that your only criterium?

The MTRC has 4 electrical engines, no gearbox.

💡 As Yeti did for Fuji, I recorded my times with several cars on Tsukuba. Here are the times of a group of equivalent cars to the MTRC, all on street tyres:

Viper GTS 1:06.003
M5 Concept 1:06.349
SL55 AMG 1:06.706
MTRC 1:07.098
NSX Type S-Zero 1:07.194
Skyline Nur 1:07.289
Elise 190 1:07.315
RX-7 1:07.635

Join six of these in a race, and it would be close but weird racing, with that MTRC in between them. :)

heh that'd be a pretty cool field.

I was under the impression from what got said by a few members that the MTRC used a CSV, my mistake then.

I was just saying you can't argue against their inclusion on the basis of performance, which is something that was done in the Ban the concepts thread. I personally judge a car on more than that.

It's 'criterion' btw.

As long as the wheels turn I'm not going to be hugely bothered, I doubt most people can even differentiate. I wouldn't know the difference unless you told me what one used. Well perhaps one wouldn't have a fuel cap anywhere, but beyond that, I'd be clueless.

the hybrid works with one electro and one fuel engine!!!
and
the other with one big or more small electro engines(perhaps even for every wheel!)!!!

I've got a few more times for you... (Same methods as before (i.e. Normal tyres, AT, no aids))

Tsukuba
MTRC 1.04.102
Delta 59.372 (Racing tyres!)
Evo 8 MR 1.06.337
NSX 1.05.470 (But I ran wide on 2nd hairpin!)

New York
MTRC 1.49.600
Delta 1.50.037 (I span on the roundabout thou (Otherwise would've been sweet lap))(Racing tyres)
Evo 8 MR 1.54.346
NSX 1.53.371

I also ran a S2000 Race car on Fuji with racing tyres... 1.44.588

One thing I will say... the brakes on the NSX suck!!!

The MTRC is weird to brake still... even harder to judge the braking point on NY!!

The braking on the two cars running Racing tyres is phenomenal!!! (S2000, Delta!!) They stop on a sixpence!!

PS Now have 5 golds in the Purple tests... including the Mclaren F1 test... That was one gruelling race... the lead car almost pushed me off the course in the last hairpin... then I recovered and blasted past him on the last bend before he almost slipstreamed me past the line... but I knew he wouldn't make it!!!!

Thanks, 'criterium' was the Latin word ... and the Dutch :)

So much for me looking more cultured =/

Times look pretty standard amongst drivers, I'd say we have a fair idea where the MTRC sits in terms of class.

God I hope races are like this in GT4...

I noticed that this car is making sound, even if the electric motors don't turn. Can anyone explain the reason for that??

yeti
I can't hear anything... turn you fan off!!!

MadduckUK
resonance caused by background radiation combining with seagulls.

💡 I found out what the sound probably comes from ... the fuel cell 💡

After some searching on the internet, I came at this link about a test drive in a fuel cell powered car, where they write : "Turn the key and there's a quiet whirring noise as the system powers up."

I was almost thinking that PD was introducing some unreal effect in GT4, how could I :guilty: :)

After finally getting the HSC I decided to match it up against my old field of times and see how it did in comparison to the MTRC...

The HSC made it round Fuji in 1.37.768

So of the "bonus" cars that you get in Prologue the BMW M5 is the quickest (By a fair margin)... followed by the HSC and the MTRC in quick succession and then a significant drop to the Suzuki 2 and last and definetely least... the Misubishi I - which crawls round at about the same speed as a snail in reverse!!

And as for the comments about the CSV... I was unsure about that as it does show a tachometer for the car and that doesn't move for quite a while and then slowly climbs up as your speed increases... the overall display is a bit odd for that one... although not as odd as the prius!!

I was comparing times in Tsukuba and am doing the same for Fuji at the moment (I take my time :) ). On Tsukuba it's more a low weight and good traction that's important, while on Fuji the top speed helps different cars to be faster.

I posted some times below, and in there the two fastest times (I always drive on street tyres now) weren't included :
350Z Z-tune 1:04,317
HSC 1:05,301

After them come, as posted before :
Viper GTS 1:06,003
M5 Concept 1:06,349
SL55 AMG 1:06,706
MTRC 1:07,098
etc ...

So round Tsukuba the M5 is a dog and the HSC beats it!!

Good work...

Nice to notice that the Merc is pretty close to the Beamer too... The German gauntlet has been thrown!!

Well, that's with me as a driver. Perhaps someone else gets completely different results with the same cars on the same track :)

I always drive on street tyres (road tyres) with no assists, and I was able to get after a couple laps in the M5 a 1:04.645, I could get faster than that also. The M5 needs good throttle control.

also for these cars

Viper GTS 1:05.521 (Vipers brake are crap!)
SL55 AMG 1:04.843 (love those shifts)

My times the Merc is even closer to the Beemer

I've decided, for my own gratification, The noise I hear when driving the car is, A)the fuel cell, and , B)wind and tire noise. Kinda makes the replays a little odd since all I hear is a slight tire squeal. But, it is fun to drive Since I just got the game and it is my first "reward" :)

I heard that the "4" cockpits special configuration (one for every engine) for Toyota Triathlon doesn't exist in GT4 final version (there was instead in the toyota demo). Is it true?

thanks

I Can't Sell Mine Or Any Other Concept Car Can't Get No Money What So Ever.....

It's priceless, pun intended.
There aren't prices associated with concept cars because they aren't for sale to the public, which would imply their value is the sum of R&D expenditure in their design (which could be very expensive) and value as a historical piece + the expected income stream from any patents in the car + ???

In any event, no prices means no money for selling them. Enjoy your two Nike Ones
