The unforgivable misses:
El Capitan
Costa di Amalfi
Midfield Racing
Grand Canyon
Thaiti Maze

I was also hoping til the end for my favourite real world tracks to be eventually included: Circuito do Estoril - Autodromo di Imola. But I can live without that. What I do not forgive to PD are the firstly mentioned missing tracks.

i'm mostly disappointed at the lack of Us tracks
...
and so many more .. yep i THINK its official PD is bias against american tracks.. sorry someone had to say it:eek:

Try British tracks, I haven't seen a single track from Britain in the history of GT.

Simulate driving real cars on pretend tracks 👎

Glad for la Sarthe and Nordschliffe; but what about Spa, Mont Tremblant, and so on? Real (simulated) tracks 👍

Oh well; enjoy the game because the next one is in _ years :)

No ...

SebringInternational Raceway
road america
road atlanta
infineon race track
That road track in Utah ..
Mid-ohio

If 'that road track in Utah' was essential, I think you'd know the name of it!:dunce:

And PD aren't biased. There are more tracks in Europe than there are in Japan featured, and before we've had Seattle, NYC, Infeneon. If PD were biased against American tracks why would they ever have included these in the Gran Turismo series

When you come in defense of GT5's tracklist, consider that this is the biggest ever racing game release, nothing in the last 10 years has been as big as this release. It is also one of the biggest game releases in general for the console market, the ammount of money and time that has been put into this game is massive.

There is no excuse for it going backwards in terms of content provided. The trend with the games is like this, but the time frame was decent to warrent it.

GT - 1997 - The start of the series, it was great, a decent ammount of content but obviously a work in progress for something bigger, this paved the way for the future.

GT2 - 1999 - A huge increase in content in cars and tracks, this game was a masterpiece of a sequal, a big step forward.

GT3 - 2001 - New console and a small time frame to put out a game on a new platform, it had less content than GT2, less cars but it was good for the time it took and it did include many steps forward and new tracks.

GT4 - 2004 - A massive leap forward, a massive ammount of content and in general this game is a masterpiece, it raised the bar for the future, obviously taking from GT3 as a platform builder.

GT5 - 2010 - a 6 year gap, in old times this is the time difference between 2-3 game releases, GT5 is coming out at the time where we all probably expected GT6, and thus with that time investment we would expect, and should expect everything that GT4 offered, and a lot more, but in the 6 year time frame they have essencially done the same as what they did between GT2 and GT3.

Its a big dissapointment to me seeing how many of the old GT4 tracks (infineon?...) that have just disapeared, and to me night racing and fancy eye candy is less important than the content available. Its cool that they have the top gear test track, but it isnt a racing track, real racing could never take place there due to safety as it is a figure of 8, they could have spent that time doing silverstone which is a much better track, or spa which is one of the most legendary and exciting circuits in the world.

It amazes me that after 6 years this game is still not really complete.

I don't want weather all the time, I do however, want the possibility of racing on Daytona & Indy's road courses in the rain (or any other track for that matter). If it's possible on tracks that we can generate, why is it not possible on all tracks that PD made?

Why did they place that limit?

I think it has to do with the work load on the processor and/or space. This is also a base build for future GT's so I think alot of what we will see in GT5 is a trial and error deal. They need to get the public involved to see what works, what doesn't, what's lacking or what not. What they may think was a great idea, may not be. Like kart racing. Why introduce that now. Throw it out and add some tracks and cars. Most of us have been playing since GT1. We don't need karts to learn the new physics system. That's what license test are for.

In that case, scratch Photo Mode, reverse lights, and about half of the standards. :D

I concur. Some like Photomode. I will never use it. If I do, its only to make a new image for my cpu desktop. Reverse light are minor details, we don't have to have it, i was fine without it. And yes sadly half the standards can go. Anything under 100hp for sure. They can keep the good bunch from the 100-200hp class. Also B-spec is another thing. I don't like it, I don't care for it, I don't want it. Unfortunately its part of trophies this go around. I am buying the game for ME to race. Not the computer. There is now saving for endurance races so I definitely won't use it.

Was Hockenheim ever confirmed as a circuit before the release date/leaks? There was a translated article about people taking the SLS around the circuit, but nothing mentioned since. Plus El Capitan has been seen in videos, so either it got cut or they removed it from the finished game to sell as DLC.

I'm also disappointed that once again there are no UK tracks (barring Dunsfold). I would've loved to see Brands Hatch, Goodwood or the old Silverstone, or more of those old style, sweeping circuits in general, like Spa or one of my favourite tracks, Rouen Les Essarts. The less tracks there are, the worse off the game is because all the events end up using the same ones over and over. It's why GT5P got boring quickly while I kept finding new tracks in GT4 months after starting the game.

Côte d'Azur is on the list?

Ahh sweet. I missed that. Okay one down and lots more to go. I am sure most of the original tracks we liked are unlockables. Plus a several new ones. I don't think they would put in far less amount of tracks than GT4. If they did, God help them. They will get ripped for this til GT6 comes out. By then they may have lost alot of interest from the public.

I'm disappointed that there are so many great tracks missing on this GT too, the track that I would like to have is the Algarve Motor Park. Actually the Porche go to open a technology park there where make modifications for racing cars made by Porche.

This looks like tons more fun that Fuji. Can we swap PD.
I bet Kaz is just sitting back saying "you all just wait" I know they have lots more tracks on disk without DLC. They have to give us the element of surprise with all the video leaks. Kaz might be playing dumb but he is far from it. PD and Sony will expect apologies in another few weeks.

Fuji 80s was one of the best tracks in the game, every other variation is terrible. Of course, in GT5 they included every other version and left out Fuji 80s.

I just saw the gameplay video for the new Chamonix. It looks great. Nice and fast and wide enough in all the right places, but not without a few challenging corners. Very definitely an improvement over GT4's snow stages.

The track list is perhaps not as great as I had hoped, at least compared to GT4. Most of the tracks that are there look excellent, its just a bit short in numbers. It's perhaps too soon to be talking about GT6 or DLC, but I hope tracks are increased in numbers at some point.

I find the track list very pleasing because even though it's ditched 'citta di aria' look at all the new arrivals like cape ring, nurburgring 24hr. all the new ones make up for a few losses

I am disappointed for sure. Bit in all honestly I could live with just nurburgring, top gear test track and just a handful of cars. I just hope the tracks that are done have the right physics, bumps and cambers etc. If the tracks are perfect and driving physics are the top dogs. (I really liked the physics of the Indianapolis time trial)Then I wouldn't be disappointed. However if they are poor I will be very disappointed.

Does anyone know yet if you can save and race online tracks made by the course maker?

I don't know how to search for this, so I'll ask here if you'll excuse me.. why are some tracks double listed with nothing behind it? Like this:
Cape Ring
Cape Ring
Cape Ring Inside
Cape Ring North
Cape Ring Outside
Cape Ring South

Why doesn't it say anything behind the second 'cape ring'?

I think it's the way they are copied and pasted from the GT website. It lists the track name then the variations of the track so you have Cape Ring circuit. Then Cape ring as a whole track then inside, North, Outside and South as variations, hope that helps.

But it's not at all of the tracks:

Nürburgring
Nürburgring Nordschleife (Time)
Nürburgring GP/F
Nürburgring 24h (Time / Weather)
Nürburgring GP/D
Nürburgring typeV

Indianapolis Motorspeedway
Superspeedway – Indy
Road Course – Indy

Only on like half of the tracks. Kinda weird.

Interesting point. Do you think PD/Sony have released this track/car list to counter the gameplay videos being released and bring the attention back to the official side of the advertising hype?

After watching these videos I'm starting to think this is the case. I know there is possibly lots we haven't seen in the videos yet but there just seems to be something not right. Damage seems to be almost non-existent, dirty cars are gone, no mechanical damage, no pit stops, no karts, no online play, no b-spec mode and Sony are allowing all these videos to stay online when before they were all being taken down.

And if this doesn't pan out to be true do we expect apologies in a week?

My fear is that indeed those extras are already on disc... and will be on disc dlc... perhaps the worst kind of dlc.

Anybody complaining about not enough tracks, you should state what should have been removed from the game to allow the development time. You can't just list your favourite tracks moaning about why they're not in the game.

If they did a few extra tracks, then there would have been consequences; perhaps no weather, or no night racing, or some other big features.

Almost none of my favourite circuits are in the game. But you've just got to get on with it; it's an enormous development project, and you can't please everyone.

I'm not too bothered by the track list, really I would only ask for Red Rock Valley from GT2. What is worth complaining about is the car list. There are almost 10 new cars (that weren't in screenshots or anything) that should be applauded for making it in, but I have a list of almost 20 cars that should be in there & it would be quite easy to make a list of about 300 cars that could be removed in their place...

Yea, it's very strange how things they bragged about are missing in the game right now. I cannot explain it.. :guilty:

Im hoping they left something in store for us, seems strange that they would completely spoil the surprise after all this time.

And as far as content removal to make way for new tracks is concerned, is anyone really going to play B-spec mode? I tried it once in GT4 and it bored me to death within 5 minutes. Not to mention about half of the cars that are only there to pad out numbers and because they were in previous GT games.

I didn't drive 10 different Miata's in GT4 and Im certainly not going to do it this time round, expecially now since we have Ferrari and Lamborghini

I hope (w/ a bit of wishful thinking) this is the case. But I really don't understand what they truly have to gain by doing so, other than making everyone pleasantly suprised when GT5 is already in the gamers hand. They'd be better off listing the entire track selection from the get go, in order to attract as many buyers as possible.

Either way, I won't be too disappointed :)
