"Track Showdown!" is a series in which I will put two tracks against each other and the community votes what track they prefer the most. This will determine what the GTP community thinks is the best track in Gran Turismo 5 (DLC Tracks included).

For the first round, I will be pitting what I think are the two most popular and liked tracks in the game: Nurburgring and Spa-Francorchamps.

Nurburgring -

The Nurburgring Nordschliefe first appeared in GT4, while the other variations first appeared in GT5. This course has held a wide variety of races over time, and became notorious for it's challenge. Located in Nurburg, Germany, this track is known to both drivers and race fans alike.
Spa-Francorchamps

Located in Spa, Belgium, this track holds the annual Belgian Grand Prix. This track first arrived in GT5 as DLC, released just before GT5's 1 year anniversary. The most requested track for the Gran Turismo series, this track has a large fanbase around the world.

If requested, I will narrow down the options after every round like a knockout. The last track remaining will be crowned GTP's most popular track.

I know it sounds stupid, but let's do this just for kicks. :D

you picked the two best tracks in the game to square off against each other in round one!!

👍

Nürburgring will come on top though.

Hmm... I've had quite a short night of sleep, but to me that sentence doesn't make much sense.

OK8

Fixed. I did not notice how little sense that made until I checked it again.

Man, this is a good one.. Hmmmm.
I love both tracks.

Nurburgring is the classic King of tracks, but I feel that I've had more fun races on Spa..

Nurburgring for sure, Spa is an excellent track though, can't deny that.

Spa is a fantastic circuit but the Green Hell holds a special place in my heart and will always be my favorite track. I'm especially fond of the 24hr layout.

GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's like choosing between chopping my left hand or my right hand! I need both, I love both, and both are great! That said, I'm a right hander and I could make do without my left hand (although it would be sad) so: NORDSCHLEIFE!!!

You really are going to eliminate one of the best 2 or 3 tracks in the game right away? I refuse to vote.;). Seriously though, I'm not going to vote.

This is a toughie here. Spa or the 'Ring.........:scared: Almost like choosing between a Skyline R34 GTR and a Viper GTS. I want both, but I can find the other one anytime over the other so......

Nurburgring for Life! :D

Spa. Definitely Spa. I HATE the 'ring!

spa aint got nothing on nordburg.

+1 Nordburg

Really?

Nürburgring Nordschleife is, and always will be the ultimate track for me.

Spa is a great track for cars with downforce, but in my opinion, it's a pure race track.
The 'ring is the ultimate test track for production vehicles. Incidentally, my favourite activity in GT5 is testing stock production vehicles on slippy tyres.
For that purpose there is no substitue.
The 'ring isn't a great track for close racing with fast race cars though.

I would vote Nurburg if we didn't have a limit of 16 drivers on it. Racing on such a large track with just 16 people, is just a bit anti climactic.

almost qual for me but the ring is a lil bit tougher so i like it more, and the ring was no DLC.

I agree with you, at first I didn't really feel the appeal of Spa but after racing really purpose built, fast race cars on it I've started to really understand the track. The Nürburgring on the other hand is a ton of fun whatever the car you're driving.

Some of the best races I've had in GT5 to this date have been just two cars going against each other on the Nürburgring.

real life = ring

in-game = spa, due to the very poorly made elevations changes. Assetto Corsa is laser scanning the ring, and you'll see how different it is.

The Ring, even though I love Spa there's something different on the Ring every lap. I agree with the above comment though, I wish we could have more people racing at the same time.

As much as I love the circuit of Spa, I had to vote Nurburgring as I was due to run on both this year but Spa let me down just 4 days before I was supposed to run on it.

I vote for Nürburgring, because every race is a thriller there. You have to push the car to the edge, but if you go too far or lose concentration for a second it can be catastrophic. Overtaking is not just a matter of being faster than the driver in front of you, instead you have to provoke a mistake or trick the driver to cover one side of the road while you go for the other side.

Also, at 5-6 in the morning it's the most beautiful scenery in the entire game. And in the night when there's some distance between the cars, and you see the glare from the lights coming up from behind the trees, or the rear lights from a car ahead of you disappearing into the darkness. It is epic.

Are they? I know they've laser scanned the GP circuit but I've not heard anything about the full ring? I was always under the impression it wouldn't be possible for many reasons.

as far as I know it isn't certain yet, but they have been hinting it for months. Italians.

also it seems Rfactor pro (not 2, pro) has a laser scanned version, but I don't know anyone that has access to it (engine or tracks)
