Track Talk #19: Test Course

This thread is for that famous house of speed, the almighty Test Course. Everything about it is welcome.

I was lapped for the 1st time ever on the test course.I was in a Polyphony 001 and had a drafting race for a good 7 laps with a Toyota GT-One Race car and a Nissan R390 GT1.All of a sudden the Toyota ducked for the pits and the Nissan broke away,leaving me all on my own
I had to pit the next lap and eventually finished the race in 3rd place behind the Toyota and the Nissan, after the Nissan had lapped me.
I got my revenge in the next race though...I lapped the entire field..... including the Nissan 😈
But the Polyphony is sooooo slow in comparision with the R390.

I think that only the Like The Wind race should be in the game. The others are all dull.

Bring back the High Speed Ring!

:sleep: That track is sooooo boring!!!! :sleep: :sleep: I made the mistake of using my F002 in an endurance race. It won but all I heard was 14,000 screaming, annoying rpms the whole race!!!!!

i hate doing the 25 laps of test track its just boring. Its worse the superspeedway cause the track is oval and the straits take a long time and get boring fast.

why would you pit in the test track. Theres no turning involved so tire wear isnt really a problem.

GOD, i tink back to the lloonngg turns and how the rad textures would sync up with the frame rate and it would appear that you were moving backwards, I just stare into that damn track for ever and ever. I don't even like t use it for speed runs, instead I us either the super string or grand valley. I don't care how fast my car will go on the oval, i want to know how fast it will go in a race on a real straight.

I pitted because the Nissan and the Toyota were bouncing off my left rear tyre.Plus i thought there was no way that the Polyphony's maximum speed would be that low.....how wrong i was

Don't you love the way that if it's part of a champ series, it's never at the end so you can't just save and quit out to win that series...

You could always start the test course race and then quit it,but you have to remember to race an extra track towards the end of the champ series.

test track is always boring and will always be and it takes so long just to complete one track cause it looks boring even. If they painted the track colors it would be more interesting.

imagine a 100 lap test track endurance race. that would take forever and be boring and then you race against other escudos and that might be a little bit of a chalenge.

But who truly could be ****ed doing 100 laps gotta be crazy 20 laps takes around 40mins in an Escudo.

i did 20 laps in about 27 min using escudo was going around 280 the whole lap. so 100 laps is about almost 2.5 hours long.

Seriously though, like someone said, the Test Course is really only fun when you're in a pack of cars going fast and having a good drafting battle. Unfortunately, the skill factor in this track is about 90% car and 10% driver, so if your car isn't on par with the other cars, then you're out of luck. The bad AI really prevents you from having any intense 6 car battles because the cars are often unequally powerful and the computer doesn't know how to utilize the drafting effect anyway. I'm sure it'd be a blast to run in fully maxed out high-powered cars in a 6-player i-link battle (if you could use your cars from sim mode) and have people bumping and pushing each other to the front of the pack.
