Track Talk #6: Tokyo R246

I've always liked R246. It's loads of fun in extreamly fast cars because it has good 'meandering straits'. I can hardly wait to run the F1 championship on this course.

All I know is that racing this track in the F688 while listening to Renaissance Presents Vol.1 WILL cause an orgasm:D

Never choose your F002 for that... You keep re-accelerating so frequent that the already annoying sound drives you nuts !!!

my little thing is it says that you can go in like 5th gear at that little tweak in the road before the big right hander onto the front straight. it's bloody impossible! yu always nail the outside wall.

It's a great track. I remember the feeling of speed as you go down the back 'straight' from the first time I went round it. I wasn't quite used to the power of the PS2, and it (along with the superb new rendering of GVS) just blew me away.

I love the long pit straight, and the way you're flat for so long, even in something like the 787b, and then it's hard on the brakes for that 90-right. For 100 laps. Fantastic!

at the very first right 90deg turn, I sometimes ride on the wall especially in the formula gt....unless I was playing fair with the computer. I could use the F094 hit the wall at 6th gear @ 380kph+ and came out with 3rd or 4th gear. Am I the only one doing it?! Oh sometimes I do that on the right 90deg turn before the long straight away too. :p

Are you a Nascar driver? Havin' trouble turnin right are ya? :D

Just kiddin'. I don't like to ride the walls... scratches up the paint job :p

Annoying sound? Try "the most beautiful sound in the world."
If you have crappy speakers on your tv I might be able to understand. Then again, the faintest noise of any kind of engine cause my ears to perck up and everything else dies down until I can pinpoint the source. The most beautiful music in the world is from a well tuned engine and exhaust. (and well tuned does not include little blue lights on your hood and what sounds like a big F'ing bumble bee in your exhaust).

Yeah i really like Tokyo in both directions but i prefer it forward :) great in a 001 :D and like Giles says the sense of speed you get going down the last part of the track is great , i can do an enduro on this track no problem :)

When I first ran this circuit I hated it. I just couldn't figure it out. Then I ran the Type R races on it a few times and fell in love. It's now one of my favourite tracks - I've completely sussed the breaking and turning points for that first 90° right hander - even at R390 speeds - and kill the AI opposition who always exit far too slow! :D

Love this track. I liked it the first time i drove it. At first i had to look at the little map to tell when i was close to the right hander after the long straight.

...oh, and I like it even more now that I found out it is a real place on real Toyko streets... :D

Anyone got a link to that film of some actually driving the route?

I'm afraid I play it on my 110cm screen SONY TV and for the sounds, I use my Technics Home Theater System (Surround open of coure) along with my PS2 my dear friend.
Also, I said that it is not nice to MY TASTE...

And for your info, my car is a thoroughbred French beauty, a Renault Megane Coupe 2.0 tuned up to some 200 + HP. Lowered suspension with KONI adjustable gas shocks and 205 / 45 x 15 tyres with OZ rims. Recaro seats and 4 point safety belts.

Well, so you can see I have NO ricerocket... BTW, I also have my Megane sedan which is ubtouched by any means of mods.

FYI :D

I forgot to mention the K&N direct air filter and twin barrel high bypass muffler... So you can see that I DO have a taste for engine sounds...

however, the cops don't let me dash around as I can so frely with GT3. That's why I LOVE GT3 so much... :D
