This is creating hype to make players think less about the content drought we're going to have for the next 2 and something months.
Is it really content drought though?

Considering we have had content updates for every month of 2025, except for April ("dead game" :)), we were due for some months without updates. We will end the year with 9 content updates for GT7, which is on par with the amount of updates we have had every year since launch*.

Sure, I think it's the first time we have had 2 months in a row without a content update. I personally wouldn't class that as a content drought though, considering the number of updates we had this year, and with Spec III not that far off.

*Both 2023 and 2024 had 8 content updates, so we are actually getting "more" content in 2025 compared to previous years.

I don't know why PD is calling it SPEC III, for me this just a bigger update then the usual ones...
I would call it a SPEC III if they would ad at least; Gt-League, B-Spec or Endurance Races...
I think it's related to this:
  • Telemetry
  • Increasing the collection level cap
  • Improved weekly challenges
  • Improved online races
  • New events in the "Track Discovery" section

New cars and tracks are just regular updates, but these 5 points change the game. I'm really interested to see how telemetry works and how we can interact with it. It would be especially cool to be able to load a lap of another player who's faster than you to see where we can improve.

potentially gt sophy and b-spec

I mean in all fairness it is in retrospect if you look at some aspects specifically, the last time a track was added was over a year ago (and I think that's about the same time frame since there was an addition of any kind to Gr.3 with 90's GT500s / Suzuki VGT), but I get what your trying to say regarding the frequency of updates so far in 2025.

My point is that they could've drip fed us this content every few weeks to keep moderate interest in the new stuff, integrate the QoL patches when they see fit, rather than packing it into one big update. Some of the more popular stuff will eclipse the others obviously with the way it is right now once we get to December.

Still, the next two months with more of the same of what we've had since the last update is... going to get a little stale/repetitive, that's all.

As you said, the last track added was over a year ago. I'm sure we can wait until December for 2 new tracks... no?

But I do get your point, and slightly agree with it, but PD will do PD things. I'm not sure if I would prefer for them to split Spec III into smaller updates though, since I feel it wouldn't be a Spec III update at that point, but that's just me.

However, all of this is assuming that they had this content ready to be added into the game in the next months, which may not be the case. We simply don't know.

Thankfully there's plenty of other games to play. Personally I'm going to split my free time between GT7 and GT4, so it won't get stale for me. :)

I like to fantasize about what the other four hidden cars will be, but unfortunately, something tells me the two useless Xiaomi will arrive. Meh, I'd much prefer a skateboard to electric cars and VGTs; at least the skateboard would be usable in custom races and not stuck, for no reason, in a stupid one-make races.

My prediction for the remaining four cars:
-BMW 507
-Fiat Panda
-Xiaomi SU7
-Autozam AZ-1
Panda and Xiaomi I think are pretty safe bets... Sadly 🤣
BMW 507 would be

Let's join the prediction party for the rrmaining 4 cars 🤭:

-Xiaomi SU7 Ultra
-BMW M4 GT3
-Porsche 911 (992) GT3-R
-Lamborghini Huracan STO

I know is not lisred on the article on the Grsn Turismo site, but what would be the chances to see update wheater conditions on some tracks??🤔

The burning questions:

Why haven't they revealed the other four cars? Isn't it decided yet which ones they will be?

Have they not finished scanning?

Or are they simply holding back on revealing the important cars (LMP or Super GT?) to be announced at the World Tour Finals to generate some serious marketing hype?

Personal opinion: the rest of the cars can be something already teased before (Xiaomi) and/or something less interesting for the general public (another SUV/Fiat Panda)
But also since the release is in the whole 3 months the cars might just not be ready enough to show in a trailer.

But doing this way they would never have content for a Spec update they tend to do along game life cycle.
I'd imagine a Spec update of any kind would be geared towards a more comprehensive rehaul of the current systems in game and quality of life fixes, rather than simply a larger content drop. By your logic they could've consolidated the previous updates into a quarterly occurrence and call every update Spec III, IV, V, IV for 2025 respectively (after Spec II in 2024), instead of the "Free [Insert month name here] Update" naming scheme they've used for everything else so far this year, and vice-versa.

At the end of the day more regular updates with less content wins out against less regular updates with more content, engagement is kept at more of a plateau with better player retention instead of these peaks where people jump on for a week or two, and then dissappear until the next Spec-like update.

Be able to trade elementary data would be game changing. Screens shots is great but there’s nothing like overlaying your data to a friends or even A+ class drivers.

I don't think they would add some SUVs or something that people hate if we look Spec 2 update when they have many cars that people like (except Tesla Model 3)

I hope its the latter. Not the cars but the holding back for marketing. I mean really, what's wrong with a surprise? Why can't they just hold it in the sleeve like they did with the Spec III update? That was exciting.

Idk, I'm more of the "let me know when it's done" type. I know things could change from the "news" to the actual release so why even worry about it?

Not to be overly negative, but I think the whole point of collecting telemetry data is for that. It would be very foolish if PD releases a half-baked feature that doesn't allow players to compare their laps against the top leaderboards (aside from those who hide their replays?)

I mean, why go out of your way to create something that players would REALLY benefit from if the final idea is unfinished or incomplete?

Why would they add Middle East to Europe when it’s in Asia?
... it's part of the EMEA region.
"ME" is "Middle East", which covers all the way up to the Iran/Afghanistan border even in its smallest configuration.

EMEA in PlayStation terms goes even further, including India and Pakistan.
There exist several possibilities, the most likely of which - given the one South America track being in the Americas and the one Australian track being in Asia-Oceania - is that Abu Dhabi would be added to the section currently called "Europe", but with a potential re-name to EMEA.

This would, in fact, match the regional names for the Manufacturers Cup too. Players in Abu Dhabi would - and do - compete in the EMEA region.

I don't follow, is there an argument that needs to be made about Brazil being part of the Americas?
No.

If you look at the regional maps in World Circuits you'll see that two regions have virtually every circuit in one country (we'll forgive Lake Louise for the moment) and the one remaining circuit not in that country calved out into a separate box. In the Americas, that's Interlagos. In Asia-Oceania, that's Mount Panorama.

Should they remain consistent, this is likely going to be the case for Europe (potentially with the EMEA rename) and Abu Dhabi too, with the map featuring a separate box in the bottom-right corner for the area and circuit. And again, it means all three regions match their Manufacturers Cup region, with players in Abu Dhabi competing in EMEA (for Nations too; EMEA isn't subdivided in Manufacturers).

I suspect they'll put it in a second cutout at the top left of the Asia-Oceania map personally because just doing that where there's already room seems easier than moving the already pretty packed Europe map around to fit a cutout or stretching the map to Abu Dhabi.

Would like to point out that we don't have the full details for Spec III as they've specifically said "stay tuned for more details". We've been given Enough to generate hype but not everything, including those unannounced 4 remaining cars. For all we know, Online might get a massive improvement (would certainly pull me back to more online racing given the less then steller netcode my friends have had to deal with) or we get more massive singleplayer improvements.
