We should try and organise a game somtime.

I play it almost every GMT evening.

Is there a way of finding another player if they are online?

I can't find it if there is. I'll go on any day this week, bar saturday mid afternoon.

EDIT

Even if i'm not on GTP, i'll be on MSN. If i'm not on MSN, i'm not online :)

Does anyone know anything about configuring NAT settings on a Netgear Wireless router?

Let me know if anyone wants to play online tonight.

I usually play on the OldTimersRacing server in the USA or this one called clanhost 1 or something like that that is on the first page when you click show all servers 👍

GTP server going up for about an hour, its called GTPbeginner and is open to anyone 👍

Come and join me if you want to play, it'll be all fairly easy tracks so don't worry about any crazy ones ;)

I'm having a hard time to download this. Wednesday night it crashed on 99%, yesterday I was getting errors all the time. I can't even enter the website, it's blocked somehow.

For some weird reason or other, I can't login at www.trackmanianations.com... All I get is a "Erreur" message written on top of the flag lines...

I will go on that server later, I am doing my GCSE english work atm (I am retaking it), but I may go permantly left or right, and my joypad is broken. I am going to get a new one soon (This one to be exact).

I downloaded this last week or so. Let me tell you, I'm getting addicted to TrackMania. TrackMania Nations is basically a free look at TrackMania. It is incredibly futuristic and (some may disagree) somewhat of an evolution of racing. This especially lies in building your own tracks in amazing settings. It's almost as if this game continues where the classic PC game, "Stunts"/"4D Sports Driving" left off.

I am an American, so I'm riding as part of the USA team. Trouble with this comes in two ways. For one, I have to put my graphics on Safe Mode since I don't have an nVidia card. Second of all, the computer crashes and restarts my computer when I try to use the Paint program. I basically just leave the painting options alone. This game has CRAZY stunts! Doing the Training exercises (I'm in the Advanced ones as of this post) leaves me feeling like, "I pulled THAT off?" One exercise was a level that has a boost pad, has a spiral to it, and it's over. I couldn't believe how I hit my marks and passed it with a gold medal. I'm struggling with the last "E" exercise (Advanced Training) which consist of a bunch of walls that you drive on... followed by another series of walls. The stunts are pretty scary.

Most of the tracks I have created are more like regular circuits. I tried making a variety of closed-circuit courses and open-circuit courses. This game puts all the wild Hot Wheels tracks to shame. T.M. Nations doesn't allow for a track where you can modify the ground around you, so you essentially have a bunch of elevated roads and loops. This game is crazy on a lot of levels. It even puts the Rush series to greater shame. Almost any game series that banks on wild stunts is put to shame with this game. The circuits I've created are mostly traditional circuits. I did, however, put things in like turbo pads and stuff. I'm going to try loops and wall-riding stuff in later creations.

Playing this game makes me wonder about getting TrackMania Sunrise (since TrackMania United is not in non-online stores to my knowledge). The TrackMania series has been around for a few years. And as usual, I'm a late bloomer. This is a crazy game.

I actually just bought TrackMania United this week. There's a magazine over here that includes a full game every issue, which makes sense since it's called "FullGames".

Anyway, they included TMU a few months back when the game was released, and it's much cheaper (eight bucks) than buying the game online. Don't know if there's any magazine selling the game in the USA.

Sadly I haven't tried the game yet, probably will next week. There's a TMU thread over here:

PHOOOAARRR..

I almost forgot about TM Nations - I am SO getting back online tonight - Finally got my comp fixed !...

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of all this lag? Eg. When im on Solo mode, I cant do one course without my computer laggin like hell and making me crash.

I just put my TrackMania deal on Safe Mode. Otherwise, I can't see the track very well, causing a crash. This stuff was made with nVidia in mind. I have the much loathen SiS series of cards. So since I made this Safe Mode graphic switch, I've been better able making tracks and racing them. Also make sure your PC meets the requirements.

I mentioned getting Sunrise. I took some of the OGG music from the Sunrise demo into my TrackMania Nations music folder. I think I read something about being able to import TrackMania Original and Sunrise cars into the free Nations package. Haven't tried it because I don't have any TrackMania besides Nations. Going off-topic, I'm sure the sky's the limit for making tracks with TrackMania Sunrise. The Platform mode makes for cool stunts, but can be awfully scary trying to pull off certain moves. I got Gold for both ones in the demo. Puzzle Mode (I agree with some other website) is out of place. However, it's an interesting challenge. You have "Tilted Curves" and "The Right Speed." I silvered both of them.

This series is pretty awesome. Sure hope to get my hands on TM Sunrise... or even TM United if I'm lucky. I do fear that... what's it called, StarForce? You should still make an effort to make the long download for TrackMania Nations if you want to know what the TrackMania series is about.

I think I still can't use the Paint program without the computer crashing. I would love to make my own paintscheme for my own car. You can't really make a track to be raced at any time of day in the game. I'm going on my TrackMania Sunrise demo in which you can choose to race at Sunrise, Daytime, Sunset, and Night.

Now some off-topic stuff. If my mother agrees to go to a certain store outside of Houston, I'll try to see if I can purchase a TrackMania game. I'm a bit confident I'll see Sunrise at a store. The longshot would be seeing TrackMania United on sale at a regular store. United would be the ultimate package. I might get rid of TrackMania Nations if I get United because the T.M. United package includes all environments including the stadium. There is even the notion of dirt and snow tracks. I even seen the formula-type cars around the Stadium course with dirt sections. So I'll see what I can do.

Upto now, ive made 3 tracks; which each take around 10mins to complete. I also made another one, which took around 15mins, but its simply too big and my computer crashes when I try to load it. :(

I've had TrackMania Sunrise for a week or two. I've been thinking back as to what makes TrackMania Nations different from Sunrise. There is one key difference for me with Nations- you can't make elevation changes to the terrain. It isn't possible to bring in past cars from past TrackManias because Nations was specifically made for the Formula-style cars. I sometimes thought about "water hazards" with TrackMania Nations. I can't even imagine doing a Crazy or Platform event in Nations. Not really enough space to make such a track.

I've actually been making more open tracks than closed tracks in Nations. I don't have incredibly long and massive courses. One course I attempted to do was my own hillclimb event. It was simply a series of roads with varying elevation changes. The finish line was at the absolute highest point I could place a finish line. As it's a hillclimb, there are all sorts of roads with varying grades and steepnesses. Maybe my best closed track was a race track I designed for an unlikely game. I tried to recreate a race track of mine from a level I made in Duke Nukem 3D! It was based on a fantasy course of mine based in Vietnam's capital city of Ha Noi. I may even attempt to re-create Suzuka as best as I can for my copy of Nations. Truly one of my best gaming moments this year was in being introduced to TrackMania. I say "merci beaucoup" to Nadeo for an awesome game series.

Hehe, im gonna try and make something like that now (an uphill track).

I think my Trackmania is dying, every time I try to make a new track; game dies, and every time i open one of my tracks; game dies :(

EDIT EDIT: Now I cant even open it :scared:

I try to make fun tracks to race on myself, I just don't get the sort of NĂĽrburgring Nordschleife mentality in which EVERY track has to be an extremely long course. Most of my closed circuit courses are usually completed anywhere between 0:50 to 1:30. My open courses usually last between 1:20 and just shy of 2:00. I even attempted a 2:20 course in TrackMania Sunrise for the Coast environment. I make detailed tracks, just not extremely long ones. And by the time TrackMania United appear in stores other than online only here in the States, I'll be making my fair share of tracks within the limits I choose.
