I've tried two cars. The shelby, and the mercedes (forget the model as I don't have the game right in front of me) The ginetta wins every race by 20 or more seconds. I'm fairly new to gt5, but I've been playing the gt games since day one, and I cannot find a good setup for these comfort soft tires, I'm sliding all over the place and can't get a good grip. Anyone have a good setup or preferred car for this?

Do you have a wheel?

This may sound really dumb, but do you have a GT40 Race Car '69? It is perfect for nailing the Ginetta at Eiger, albeit the GT40 has at least 140 hp advantage over it and is MR.

BTW, welcome to GTPlanet!

Just keep restarting the race till the ginetta isnt there ;) I used the alfa guila race car :)

sadly I haven't picked up a wheel yet, so no, but I have decent throttle control on the controller (been playing since gt1). I won the first cup race with the shelby, but I do not have the gt40 race car, I've had my best laptimes with the 300sl coupe, no matter how slow i enter or exit turns I have trouble keep the back tires from going insane. I've tried adjusting the lsd (generally made it worse), adjusting downforce, different tire set ups. Only challenge that has given me trouble thus far. =(

the race modified 69 Camaro is a good one too.

If you want to win easily, just use a Corvette '69. :p

Even the non-race mildly tuned to add some HP one wins all races. 👍

I'm trying the vette at the moment and on eiger my best lap is only 1:19. I'll give the Camaro a go

I recently golded all of the expert AMG academy expert events, which, as you may know, gives you an SLS AMG on comfort soft tires to lap a wet nurb on, and that'll theach you a few things on how to not spin the wheels on corner exit.

If you haven't been already, go into the corner a gear higher than you normally would, and keep it in that gear until you're sure you won't spin the tires to get back on the gas. If you think it will be faster, you may want to downshift as you start accelerating.

I wish I could help more but I don't remember what car I used. I do remember that the Ginetta was a pain in the arse, and I would usually come about two or three seconds behind it.

I hope I was of a little assistance, and welcome to GTP.

I will certainly give you a try. And thanks everyone for welcoming me. I'm a little late to the game, as I just recently purchased another ps3.

give it a try rather.

Do give Camaro (non RM) a try. It is definitely capable of winning the whole seasonal(with Ginetta at the pole) even without much tuning.

For tuning:
Add parts to bring it to the max PP, detune if it is slightly over and adjust the max speed to suit the course. The max speed can be determined by your first attempt to win (if it fails) by putting it at 10-20kph above the max you reached.

Ginetta is usually way way ahead of the rest of the field.

gave it a try won all but two races. struggling with cote, as I haven't raced that course in years. Thinking about picking up a wheel within the next week or so. Not sure if I want to make that investment just yet, but if I find an ebay steal I may nab it up.

I won every race with my premium Corvette '69. On soft comfort tires it slides a little but still I could win without any tuning to it (I just bought every part but didn't touch any settings)

Alfa Romeo GIULIA TZ2 carrozzata da ZAGATO CN.AR750106 '65 - win it in the b-spec expert historic event (or buy for 20mil!)
Its a breeze through all the tracks except eiger which requires a good lot of bhp, for this the 63' corvette race car does the trick.
With most of these races it takes track knowledge and practice, expect for most to be taking the lead on 4th or 5th lap.
Ps -Iv tried the gt40 its pants! eats the tires and to make the pp limit underpowered. The alfa weighs in a 600ish kg's = nice and light and doesn't eat the comfort softs!
PPS-The aforementioned b-spec race is pretty tricky, ur bobs need to be pretty experienced and use a decent car. I used a 2J for it.

I used this car too :)

I had trouble with the last race at the randomly generated course but I just decided to detune the old Jaguar race car and I beat it easily with that

If your really struggling turn Skid Recovery Force on will gain you at least 2-3 secs per lap

The Lamborghini Miura is pretty good for these events, too.

Beat all but Rome with this thing. The Alfa handles like a dream.

For Rome I used the 69 GT40.

Alfa TZ2

adjust transmission accordingly for each track, min aero and max bhp

If you dont mind being cheap to win...send me a FR, i have a Chappy 2D on share at the moment, you'll just have to adjust it to get it down to 500pp

Chappy's a 1970 though, isn't it?

Crap - never mind - I'm thinking of the 2J!

Yup, 2D is a good 'un for this run.

Holy Schneikies - the Jag XJ13 '66 is AMAZING on the Eifel Kart course! At 500pp, it walked away from the G4 by more than 16 seconds, turning 57 second laps.

ETA: Just smoked the G4 on the Eiger Nordwand by 19.472 seconds with it. It's damned good in the corners, but it just smokes everything on the straights. Passed the G4 at the beginning of Lap 4, in the first complex of hairpins, but he was still right on me until I hit the straight, and then he just vanished in my rearview.

Excellent! I really like the Jag - might try it as I've been struggling with Eiger. I'm so far behind with the seasonals I think I'll just do what it takes to finish them and go back for fun later.

I did use the Alfa TZ2 for the first (Madrid?) and and my '69 Camaro with 70s style jacked up rear for Cote - was quite surprised I beat the G4. Must be all them cubes.:dopey:

I've found the 'normal' cars aren't comfortable getting toward 500pp with a real good setup.

Eiger- 63' Z06 corvette race car. Can't remember the stock figures but by the point of getting it eligible for this race it was running 200+ bhp. The Eiger track needs a spot of Top Gear philosophy - MORE POWER!!! and a car that handles the mad cambers of the track. Lower the aero to approx 1/3 I found it doesn't contribute much to the track.
Still have to take the corners with perfection to win though - the section before and after the start line (from the tunnel -start line - first hairpin) is where you will make up time on the lead car!
Good luck!!

Jaguar XJ13 Race Car its really easy with this car.
