Trouble beating the seasonal world classic

I just tried these events today for the first time, I try to use stock cars without tuning/detuning, I had a few goes at each race, won variously with the Cougar, Camaro, 69 Vette, E-Type (Rome but no Ginetta in the pack, was fun) but came a little unstuck with Eifel. I don't find the Eifel Kart tracks much fun on crappy tyres so I used an AC Cobra with a fair amount of engine wear, then detuned it (breaking my code) from 507pp to 500pp.

Had a blast then, you just have to keep it on the track and floor it whenever you can. Again no Ginetta, passed the leader about 2 corners from the end. I did find these events a little odd though, the final event seemed way harder as there is simply not enough space to build up some speed in a slower car. Also in some races the opponents are clearly tuned, the Ginetta seemed the most obvious but at one point I was chasing an Alfa Spider Duetto along the fastest section of Rome, and it was matching my pace at over 130mph =/

It's also kinda a shame that most of the Japanese cars you race against are just not up to the task if you use them yourself, even with some tuning.
 
Well I had posted a long drawn out explanation of how I did this series last night and today but my net dropped right before I hit submit and I lost it all. Too lazy to retype. Bottom line, use the Jag, it's amazing in this series. Sticks to the tracks pretty well even with Comfort Suck tires on.
 
I beat it easily with Dodge Charger Super Bee. Not really tuned, just maxed out all options.
 
I used my fully tuned (de-tuned to meet PP requirements) '69 Camaro Z28. Smoked every car on the track. Was typically in 1st by the 3rd lap.
 
i used the 2D and not only did it liquify the ginetta it was actually a blast to drive with comfy soft tires. i think 48/52 ballast balance was the key. i know i didn't do any tuning other than that.

i don't remember what weight and power limiter i used (unfortunately i put everything back to default so as not to forget to do it later) but i was far enough under 500PP to get 440k credits at monaco. i do remember i put downforce to minimum. edit: everything was "maxed" : 50% power, 200 kg ballast and 0 downforce. that made 395pp.

once in first place on the kart track it ran 4 straight 59.6's, just to show what a kitten it was. it just drove itself.

edit: i did it again and actually you're not in first at the beginning of lap 2, just clear enough of traffic to drive the lines you want. and it wasn't 59.6's, only 59.8's. i did a 59.1 and a 59.2 as well, but to drive that fast you run the risk of running a couple of 1'02's with them.

unless of course you're a better driver than i am, which is likely!

Only got around to do this yesterday, first choice that came to my mind was the AC Cobra. Sort of a cheat car comsidering the pure power and torque this monster has. It whoops the opponents on the straights but you gotta be careful with the throttle though. This thing loves to smoke tires!
 
I just used the RM Z28 and it was almost too easy. Just set it up with the GT5 Quick Tune program with suspension level 1, limited some engine power for a bigger bonus and boom. Thats it. Piece of cake. Tons of credits.
