Trouble downloading the update.. PAL Bluray

Bought the game today and i cant download the update, always says download error, download failed... Sometimes it gets a bit further than other times, while most of the time it fails almost straight away. Any reason? is it just a matter of waiting?

my PS3 net works fine btw. Downloaded the latest software version last night and i can browse the web fine..

This happens to everybody that is trying to download the update your not the only one so don't panic. Do some searching on here im sure you will find your problem.

After it fails, try to access news or gt-tv and keep repeating this each time it fails. Aim is to not exit the game at all. This resumes the download even though it doesn't look like it and eventually it will complete the download just might take an hour or 2. I needed to do this at a mates house as his kept failing at random points.

persistance my friend..the downlad failed for me about 15 times, each time i would go to the "news" section and it would proceed normally, it does resume where it left off, except it doesnt reflect on the status bar..

Aim is to not exit the game at all.

Actually I finally got the JPN update only after I exited the game using the home button.

Load into the game (without the update) and go to the online tab and let it download from there. Thats the only way it worked for me.

Well im pleased to say i got it, it went half way then failed, then i retryed and it only went another half way and it was complete!. Just have to keep at it.

Hmmm, looks I got lucky then, I got my copy last thursday, went online, and update went just fine, one try, took about 45 minutes. For online racing I had to reconfigure the UPNP settings but after the change that goes well too.

Mine failed once at about 80%, started it up again and it finished off pretty quickly. I was expecting it to be a nightmare, as I got mine on Friday, 1million preorders all downloading a 400MB update?

I should've looked this up first. I had one that got to 50% and one that got to like 25%, so it would have been nearly done!!!! Now I've turned the system off, try again tomorrow I guess. Thanks guys, hope you're right.
