Trucks and tunes for the new seasonals?

I had a blast with a mildly tuned (~440-450pp) F-150 on sport hards. It was great.
The only problem is that the difficuly really varies from track to track, depending on how it fits the AI driving style.

Such tune is great and competitive for Grand Valley for example, but massive overkill for the Ring and on the last track (great one!).

I'm looking for a tune for the Midget. I'm not the best driver, but I can't manage better than 4th on Tsukuba. Gearing is around 106 or so, but I get pulled hard on all of the straights. I have a feeling it'll be even harder on the longer courses, but it's nice to craft a giant killer. :)

Gearing should be ok,maybe 1 or 2 clicks slower, but try adjusting your front camber to 3.0, and rear to 1.5

Also, I have the LSD at 5/10/5, I won it the second try, your lap times should be roughly 1.06/1.07...

Brake balance! 3/1.

And I have the front on a stiffer setup than the rear.

Used the tuned F-150 that I completed the A-Spec and B-Spec truck races with. Sport Hard tires made the races challenging but winnable. Sport Soft tires made it an easy win.

Racing on the Ring and Mt. Aso were fun!

The trucks push so hard in the corners, I put a 4.0 camber on the front, like 2.0 on the rear in my Ford and the Dodge. Seemed to help. They can turn better now. Also I keep the ride height to the lowest setting and the springs are highest in front and 1.0 off max in rear.

Tacoma X-runner sligthly tuned:

Weight reduction stage 1
Engine tune stage 1
ECU
Sports air filter
Sports exhaust
Catalytic converter
Twin plate clutch
SR flywheel
Carbon propeller shaft
Fully customizable suspension
Sport hard

330 BHP, 1518 kg, 462 PP

Won all races by a small margin except Fuji, still missing 5 sec. on that track

suspension number would be nice

Only tried a heavily tuned F150 so far on Tsukuba with sports hard and had real difficulty getting the power down although won pretty easily. Think I may have to try the Midget though!

I just won the Nurburgring with the Midget!!

3.5 seconds in front of the Toyota

What tires? I've been trying to replicate the SS win, but it seems that it requires a lucky break with the starting field... giving you opportunities to draft everywhere and holding up the lead Tacoma long enough for you to get a draft on him on the back straight. :(

Got to give Tsukuba a shot before heading to work today. Grabbed my F150, 470PP(in that area at least). Was a ton of fun, but passing is quite a pain in the rear with these fatties. Ended the race in 4th place with 3rd and 2nd blocking me the entire last lap as they couldn't figure out who wanted 3rd place more. May be time to for some demolition derby to win.

I have only done the Nordschleife race with a Stock Ford F150 Lightning. Gave it a Engine rebuild and a Chassis refresh. Pretty close race aslong as the Tacoma doesn't start up front. That Toyota is pretty fast

Has anybody else noticed the trucks don't want to get out of the way on the Nurburgring? It must be those rude American redneck AI drivers...

I used a Lightning with sports softs, racing air filter and stage 2 weight reduction. It wasnt even that difficult to win.

Pssh. Clearly the Germans built their lousy track too small for any decent, race-worthy vehicles such as these to fit on. :D

I grabbed my SVT lightning which was previously maxed out so my stupid B-spec driver could actually win at Daytona. I whopped everything. lol

I'll grab some of my other, un-tuned trucks and see what fun can be made. :)

It's odd that the prize doesn't scale up left-to-right as usual but they threw the highest paying (The 'Ring) in the middle.

I had SS tires, and I checked the line up before the start. The Tacoma should be in 4th or lower, I caught up with it just after Caroussel, and after that I just blasted away (Blasting away in a Midget :dunce:) from it, until the last straight, I had 10 seconds, after the straight only 3.5 left..

Doing the same thing with the Midget after I've seen a few of you win with it.
It's a ton of fun, first try I ended in 11th with a 9'02" lap.

Still working on it. Got my lap time down to 8'48" but that back stretch is brutal. This last attempt I was in 3rd entering it right behind the front 2 but I couldn't stay with the draft initially and they pulled away. Went from 1.3secs away from 1st to 5.XXsecs by the end of it. Lost overall by 4.XX secs. I'm determined to win with this little thing though.

Biggest problem I've had so far is when lining up to pass on the inside I'll get bumped occasionally and any little bump is enough to send this guy into the curb and flip over. Other than that it's been a ton of fun. Hell, even flipping this truck over makes me laugh.

EDIT - Best lap is down to 8'41" but 2nd place, still no win. Lost by 4.XX seconds. Gotta give this a break though. Getting frustrated with the SSR ramming me into a curb and flipping me over.
Hopped back into the F150 for some vengeance. 7'33" lap and I rammed the SSR real good once to feel better.

EDIT 2 - Hells yeah just won with the Midget! Lap time was 8'47.957" Had a 4.3sec lead going into backstretch. I decided to block as long as possible instead of trying to draft right away. Tacoma and Silverado SST both passed me but I slowed them down enough that I could draft them without them pulling away. Won the race by 1.381 seconds. Here is my setup:

All max(of course) with RH tires, going to try with SS now.
This setup is similar to the one posted earlier also.

Ride Height -15/-13
Spring Rate 6.0/6.0
Damper Extension 4/4
Damper Compression 6/5
Anti-Roll Bar 3/3
Camber 1.8/1.2
Toe -.14/-.05
Brake Balance 3/1

Top Speed 168

I played around with the top speed going from 155 to 168. 168 got me the win so sticking with that, however it was pretty similar performance between them. Some of the shifting is weird because 4th gear is longer than hell so sometimes I would keep it in 3rd longer than normal.

Also, best bet is to get a starting order with the Taco's in 4th or 5th, no higher. They haul and will take off and leave everyone in the dust if they start higher. Also got lucky and had a Taco start 10th so it took awhile to catch him but he gave me an awesome draft and by time I caught him that entire group was 4th - 11th so didn't take long to jump up some spots and be right on 3rd places booty.

Did it with my Dodge RAM 1500 LARAMIE Hemi Quad Cab '04 gifted after ia bronze. Fully moded with softs. Others had no chance winning me.

SVT Lightening, only done Tsukuba so far. After numereous attempts with slightly incressing pp ended up with tuned / lightened to about 480 pp. Had to put sport softs for a bit of grip as I really struggled not to be sideways out of every corner (could have used a bit of TC but don't normally like it).

Would liked to have seen a Holden flatbed ute (with optional dog on the back) for our Ozzie brethren:)

I wish the SUVs were allowed on this seasonal. The pajero would be fun with some comfort soft tires.

This. I have NO IDEA why PD would've limited it to JUST the trucks listed, and not all of the trucks in the game?

Won 'em somewhat easily with a Tacoma. Bought ECU, racing air filter, and sports cat upgrades and the customizable transmission (the stock one is geared way too long for most of the tracks), but I only used all the horsepower mods on Tsukuba; the rest I just used the ECU upgrade or nothing at all. 415-430pp overall. Tried it on comfort softs, but I couldn't keep the back end from sliding around under acceleration, so I cheated and switched to sports softs. Probably could have done 'em on mediums or hards, especially if I used all three of my horsepower upgrades at once, but they were still a decent challenge. I'll go back and see what else I can do with some of the other trucks.

4th or lower for the Taco? Tough luck, I guess... the last two tries I loaded up had the Taco in 2nd or 3rd.

I think on my one somewhat successful try, I did block the front runners long enough so that they didn't leave me for dead when I started my draft... Am experimenting with a final ratio that puts me around 220-240 km/h... 240 km/h is probably good enough...

Anyone do Toscana with the Midgie? that long uphill climb at the end is a killer. The corner is so short and slow that I can't get a good draft off of it.

Yes, I did. Apologies... all these made-up tracks look the same to me...

I just tried a fully-modded Midget on the Nurb last night for the first time. I tried a few times and couldn't get under 9 minutes. I had a hard time keeping it upright! You hit those kerbs wrong and you're flipping. It was big fun though, and I plan to keep trying with the set-ups I've seen in this thread.

Yeah Mt. Aso I gave up on. Can do real well through the corners but that hill kills all momentum.

I've been messing around with the 'ring still with the Taco's starting higher, but best I've done with those scenarios is 3rd.

The curbs are hilarious though, only time I get mad is when I'm bumped into one and go flipping. Going to mess around with the other tracks some more. I'm surprised how fun this little truck is to drive.

Incredibly fun. If I hadn't earned my rollover badge months ago, I would've gotten it nearly a dozen times over in this event.

Seriously, PD... make these races a permanent part of A-Spec!
