Famine,

GT3 is not about GT cars, otherwise there would be more than 7 of them in the game (3 Austin Martins, 2 Merces, Supra, 300ZX). It's about sports cars, cars that are "fun" to take around the track. A Miata, Vette, Tuscan, or EVO are such cars, so is an SRT-10. Yaris and CL600 are not. And I completely agree that F1s have no place in the game - they should be left to the dedicated f1 simulators that are out there, esp. considering how crapily PD implements them.

If Gran Turismo is not about Grand Touring cars, why is it named "Gran Turismo" then?

Almost ANY car is fun to drive around a track. Tried it?

Well i think Pre-runnered trucks would be cool if GT for some reason had Desert runs (Dakkar) maybe some rally here and there. But eh trucks dont really have much appeal to me in a game like GT.

Because that name is as good as any other for a jack of all trades racing game. Again, the car contains 7 "civilian" cars that can be classified as grand touring, and about a dozen racing cars participating in "touring" series. If this game is solely about "grand touring" cars than why such a small percentage of the cars in it have something to do with gt? If the lack of "touringness" is the reason you claim for excluding SRT-10s and Cayennes, than why don't you mind the Minis, the Yarises, and the various Civics?

I have never claimed that GT should not include SRT-10s/Cayennes (or any other similar vehicle) through "lack or touringness". And that's an interesting "fact" you keep trotting out:

Pity it has no basis in reality. Go through the car list sometime.

You claim that the series is "about sports cars, cars that are "fun" to take around the track." and exclude the Civics, Minis and Yarises on these grounds. I ask again - have you EVER taken any of these cars on a track? Almost ANY car is fun on a track - the Mini won the Monte Carlo rally in a 1-2-3 (only to be disqualified on a technical irregularity) and on TV a year ago a stock Honda Civic Type-R beat a stock Honda S2000 - one of THE driver's cars - around a lap of Castle Combe circuit.

And to refresh:

I regularly complain about having F1 cars in the GT series. They aren't GT cars. I don't mind the Yaris/Vitz or Civics because at least you can stuff four people in and drive them a long, long way (pretty much the ethos of a Gran Tourer, although usually you'd be needing a bigger engine and a poorer fuel economy, but hey).

I will note that you said "It's about sports cars" - which automatically excludes the SRT-10/Cayenne and similar vehicles, as they are not classed as sports cars by the manufacturer.

Regardless of the fact that it is a game about sports cars... The post is about whether or not YOU think trucks would be cool in GT4. its not whether should they be, but what you think.
I for one think it would be cool to see a few trucks in the game. I dont see it happening though, but it would be cool.

Thank You 5LRE! your're right, this was merely a poll to see who that it would be cool and who wouldn't... some of us got carried away and started attacking eachothers opinions. thanks for setting us straight.

BUT YOUR ALL STILL HIPOCRITES!!!!!!!!! :D
ok sorry wont do that again

You mean trucks in GT4? No? Anyways, if there is a truck tournament, that I would consider it, but if one or two trucks are in it, there is really no point of the 4x4 idea. At least ten and it MIGHT, and I stress might be a good idea, but it would be probably better if the trucks were eliminated, even though the SSR has been included already.

I really wouldnt care if they were 4x4 or not. 4x4s would be very pointless in a racing game, but still, even 2x4s with big V-8's would be cool.

1. Oh, yeah, I forgot about the jag, make it 8 street GT cars in the game.
2. "Fun around the track" within the context obviously means "in the game". The fact that I found a diesel W211 to be an interesting ride around the Bernese Oberland in real life doen't mean that I want to drive it around Laguna Seca in GT4.

The bottom line is: I THINK that driving SRT-10/Cayenne/Cross 8 in the game would be more interesting than driving a lot of the crap that is in GT3 right now.

Trucks have already "tarnished" the GT series. Remember the Daihatsu MidgetII from GT2? That was a truck; I don't hear anyone complaining about that. I wanted to have trucks in GT3 for novelty reasons, like the Vitz cup. That's all.

I think other wise... its not a "truck" its just a usless three-wheeled golf cart that has 30hp and can go 60mph on a good day. I really dont consider that "thing" a truck.
