I don't know, really. I doubt I'll buy it, but possibly a rental is in order. The first game was alright up until the dragons (really demolished the game's credibility), and it had some potential, even though it was empty.

I hope this is a substantial improvement at least.

Yeah the first one had potential but was very very short. If I remember correctly I beat it in 6 hours. After that the free roaming in the city became bland very quick.

There were things I liked about the first one, and alot of things I didnt like, mainly my biggest gripe was the driving physics, sort of killed the game for me in a way. I liked the precision targeting though, and you could shoot the gas tank on a car in slow motion and blow it up.

I remember really liking the first one, it was GTA wit nicer graphics & a better shooting system. It was rather short but there were different endings which took up a little bit more of your time.
Will get it at some point!

Rented it over the weekend.... don't expect driving like GTA or anything, but the graphics are beatiful and the gameplay is seriously fun. I put in about 15-18 hours over the weekend, I can't wait to buy this game. The choices of how you want your career to progress is great! Good soundtrack, lots of fun cars, diverse scenarios...I've haven;t played the LA version of the game, but this is a keeper, a great alternative to GTA's time wasting fun.

Sounds like a good review you have of it so far.
If you put 15-18 hours into the game then it sounds like it is wayyy better than the first one. The first one could be completed in 6 hours. The graphics in the video review looked really good.

I could've completed I am sure ALOT faster, but I messed around wearing different clothes, chasing ALL the crimes that took place, stayed away from the main storyline missions working on my badge. Really enjoying the game, not out to beat right away.

well, have put in about 8 more hours into this game, its horribly glitchy at spots...but then again, so was GTA VC and SA. Had a car chase that a ran a car off of the road, the car dissapeared into a solid building and the bad guys got out of the car in the building, but there was no way to get to them. Also there is one crime alert that always comes up that is not accessable. It is one of the 'human trafficing / sweatshop' missions, and the door to the building is lit up, but the door is recessed more than all of the other buildings, and no 'press L2' sign comes up...Besides that am still enjoying the game, and am working clearing the city of crime before I go on to the missions...lotsa fun.

good to hear that you like it. My girlfriend wants it, as well as some parts for her car for christmas.

WAIT, WHAT??!?! Thats what she should be getting me! lol

So It will be entertaining for 10min rather than 5 like the first one? :dopey:
LOL I know what you mean, I dont think I even finished the first one because of the awful controls on xbox.

I didnt put True Crime NYC down all weekend, and i guess there are 3 storylines to play through, I just completed the first one and am on to the second. Keep in mind this playing all weekend also included taking care of random crimes around the city and screwing around and sightseeing using Google Earth as a guide. The commentary from people on the street is hilarious, not as varied as a GTA game but just flat out funny. I must have ran around for 20 minutes pulling my badge on people just to hear the responses.

I heard the controls were still questionable on the Xbox but I'd have to say they are damn good on the PS2, very similar to the GTA games, and its pretty obvious they borrowed a few ideas from rockstar but tailored them to the True Crime series.

just spent the past hour or so sight seeing on Google Earth on Manhattan Island, gonna go sightseeing in True Crime when I get home ;)

12/13 - Im going to try and put together a short video tonight, I just picked up a new weapon that you can slice peoples limbs off with in 1 swing.
