I did a rapid search, no results of this even though I'm pretty sure someone have posted it before. I'm too tired to care about that right now. My English isn't my first language so don't shoot me for some grammatical errors.
Well, I just finished this race with my x2010 now and got the following information to tell you guys if you ever want to take the easy way like me. First I got to say that this race WILL get boring with ANY car you choose to enter with. I chose the X2010 to avoid most boredomness ( I don't even know if that's a word)
My setup:
Car: Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010 S.Vettel (70.000 km mileage, but with body restore and overhauled engine.)
Racing Soft (tires got useless when I had 10 more units of fuel left)
SRF: On
TCS: 1
ASM: Off
ABS: 1
Untouched tuning.
My stats:
Lap times: 30-40 seconds
Best lap time: 30.807 (Yes, it's easy to get under 30 seconds, but not with blocking opponents, a DS3 and poor oil.)
Laps between pitting: 40-45
Pit time: 60 seconds +-
Laps/hour: approximately 100
My selected Schedule: driving 1h 30m, parking 3h 30min, driving 3h 45min, after I catched up I parked for 15min. This schedule is not specially recommended, after the 3 and a half hour stop I was 164 laps behind, and I freaked out because I wasn't sure if I was going to make it or not.
Total laps: 547
AI stats:
Best opponent: S2000 (silver metallic paint, don't remember the name. FYI; the 2nd, 3rd and 4th cars were S2000's)
Lap time: 56-68 seconds
Laps between pitting: (unknown) assume it's 50-70 laps.
Pit time: (unknown) 90% sure it’s the same as mine.
Total laps: 542
Important Notes:
-Parking time is when you park your car on the side of the track without pausing. The time will go and you have to get back in time to be acceptable amount of laps behind or still maintain a decent lead. But remember that you have to cross the finish line after 9 hours in order to complete the race.
-Doing a good clean lap is difficult, because of blocking AI's. Only 5 of these 547 laps I drove without meeting any other car.
-You may want to spread the race over 2 or more days(as I did). Trust me, not only will you get tired and bored, but you may also start to get mood swings by driving almost 600 laps on a stupid track without stop.
-The leading opponent may manage more than 542 laps, I drove dirty and bumped him out of track 100-200 times. As often this isn't worth it, 1/3 of the times your car will spin out too, causing you to lose 5 seconds.
-When you are in the lead and want to park for the rest of the race, make sure you got more laps lead than it's minutes left. At the end your opponents will do laps over 1 minute, but it's always good to be on the safe side and check a couple of times before finish.
-Parking too early may not be a good idea, it's very sad to discover after 8 hours that you are not going to make it.
I hope these words will help you, feel free to bookmark the page if you think this may be in your interest later if you are not planning of doing the race anytime soon.
