i was doin a time trial in a Toyota Tacoma on a cathedral rocks trail II, and i spun out, hit a wall goin 10 mph, and the engine died. i think it was a glitch. all i could do is turn the tires. wierd

Sure it's not the 5 second penalty?

I noticed something like this on the Nurburgring. I was starting (for fun obviously) a 24 hour Nurb race with a Toyota Prius. I tried carrying too much speed into the last few corners on cold tires and slammed into the wall near the pits (after the entrance). The steering got all wonky, and the car felt like it was accelerating through mush. It cleared up after a few seconds, and the next time by the pits, the car PITTED BY ITSELF. Son of a... :nervous: ...damn pit autopilot. Apparently, if you get close enough to the pit wall, it will activate itself.

I've noticed that if you slam into a wall the transmission gets messed up on cars and sometimes it takes a few seconds for the cars to get back in gear again (if you're using automatic)

That's not what it was. If you look through all the penalty options in arcade mode you'll notice a "Mandatory Pit Stop" penalty as an option. It describes itself that if you wreck hard enough the next time you go by pit in you'll be forced to make a mandatory pit stop. Although I didn't think this was ever used in GT4 Simulation mode. I thought it was just for ****s and giggles in arcade mode. I used it once and all it does is make you pit in, and give you a 5 sec. penalty(i.e. No accelerating over 34 mph). It doesn't do anything else to the car.

Oops... just noticed it a while ago when I set up the arcade mode for my wife. Yes, it was on, and I was actually practicing in Arcade at my time... my bad.

But it TRIED to pit me when I was clearly past the pit entrance the first time... and then Pitted me afterwards.

When I wallride at chamonix it does the same thing, I can do the whole track in 4th gear at 80kph

Yep, best thing that could happen to those things ;) :sly:

It seems the game is full of little glitches, but you get that.

By the way, great title for the thread.

i found you can stall the cars too. i drive in the A4 DTM with assists off at Grand valley normal, and close to the first hairpin if i put full lock on and drove round and round in circles for a while the car engine died then started again. i'll try to replicate it again

Did you hear the car turnover or anything? It would make my day to see the driver get out and pop the hood.

i cant remember the circumstances but i bought a stage 1 turbo for one of my cars (other wise stock) and went ad raced it...

all was well till i let off the gas and tho no accelerator was being used it was still accelerating by its self as if it was stuck on about half throttle and the only was to stop it was to brake. I took off the turbo and the car stopped doing it....

only happened to one car and only the one time...

this has happened a few times to me too.. its when im turning around a fast sweeping corner, i think it has something to do with where the max power range is...

This has happened to me in real life before!!!

The way to fix it was to tap the accelerator again and it brought the revs down from 3000 to idling...

Quite scary the first time it happens!!!

After a while it stopped happening though... them's the problems when you have a 16 year old car!!

It sounds like an auto-choke. Muh 14yr old car has one.. after a while you tap the accerator and it brings it back to idle.

Try bringing a 21 yr. old car back from the dead. '84 300zx 2+2 to be exact. Didn't run when I got it and now it's a beast. YEAH. It ran like a turd for a while but the only time I had anything like that happen was when a bolt came loose on my throttle body and hung the pulley at half throttle for a while and the car hit 110mph before I got it back loose. Luckily I was on open interstate but it was scary none the less considering I passed a few cars that were going 60 while I was at 100. :scared:
I've done 140mph in that car, but there was nobody around at the time.
