im black and top of the class but theres this native spanish speaker that is at the bottom of the class. what the hell?

not that race has that much to do with it or anything but still...a native speaker...

I'm in my second year of learning español, but I'm not great at it. It really didn't help that my Spanish I teacher was a high-pitched German lady, so I couldn't say anything correctly until the second semester when I got a native speaker for a teacher. Anyway, few things annoy me more than when the students in my class pronounce "radio" the English way.

Two factors: Not knowing how to write the language, coupled with laziness. Many native speakers are just that &ndash; They can speak just fine, but they don't know any of the grammar when it comes to writing. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem (learning!), but many of them see Spanish class as a "free trip" per say, so they just don't care.
