I'm in my second year of learning español, but I'm not great at it. It really didn't help that my Spanish I teacher was a high-pitched German lady, so I couldn't say anything correctly until the second semester when I got a native speaker for a teacher. Anyway, few things annoy me more than when the students in my class pronounce "radio" the English way.
<-- That's me being mad. (!)

Two factors: Not knowing how to write the language, coupled with laziness. Many native speakers are just that – They can speak just fine, but they don't know any of the grammar when it comes to writing. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem (learning!), but many of them see Spanish class as a "free trip" per say, so they just don't care.
