Tuning Elise for event...

Anybody have replays for these magical 1.02 laps?

I've tried all the lotus setups I can find. I'm stuck at low 1.04s with occasion for a high 1.03. Once I ran high 1.03s during a race, yet finished worst then my 1.04 races. The only good news is that I'm consistent.

Right now, my biggest problems are these.

On lap one and two, I always catch up to the computer at the dunlop tire turn. It never fails, I'm always right behind the car. Either I run flatout into the bumper, back off or pass on the inside grass. Either way, I can't carry the speed I would if the computer wasn't there. On the first lap, at the first timing stage, I've been 14.3 to 15.1. I'm always stuck behind the computer.

The computer is always better coming off the last turn then me. I've tried speeds from 74mph to 80mph. The computer always destroys me off this turn.

I never have a drafting partner down the back straight. It either I'm right on their bumper turning onto the back straight or I'm way to far away for a tug.

BlackoutBilly's suspension set up with Shirakawa Akira's LSD settings and ballast position, thanks guys 👍, is working wonders for me.
All upgrades are on and I'm currently on the low RPM turbo.
Using 143 mph as final speed.
Only my total ineptness and inconsistency is stopping me now. :) I can floor it without TC well before the corner exit with little or no spin.

Couldn't hit anything under 1.03s, still managed to get gold though, passed the 1st car on the back stretch. Took many tries because the car kept losing traction at corner exit, but after my 8-10th try or so (LOL) I realized if I ease more during corner exit, I would actually accelerate faster....:)

Well I finally beat this event. I even ran a magical 1.02.907 lap. First lap was 104.3, 103.7, 103.2, 102.9, and 103.7.

I managed to catch the computer before the dunlop tire turn. I hung back until the final turn onto the back straight. I got a run on him and won by .845 sec. Basically I when I caught him I knew I won. I just didn't want to make any stupid mistakes before actually winning.

Felt good after spending nearly 6hrs on this event trying to win. I even used the practice mode to learn where my mistakes where. Best lap in practice was 103.3. Mostly I hovered around 103.5. I figured I was ready by then.

I would have saved the replay, but I ALWAYs forget too. I've missed out on some great photos because I can't seem to remember to save the replays.

I changed a few things from your setup for my driving style and it worked out great. 1.03 on 1st lap followed by two high 1.02's laps, I passed the lead car at the overhang mid track.

Great job. I'm still struggling to get the win. I've come within .5 seconds a few times but can't seem to keep all my laps in the 1:03 range. My first lap is usually a 1:04.5 followed by some 1:03s but there always seems to be one lap where I catch a car in a bad spot and lose some time with a 1:04 lap.

I've finally got my tune to a level I'm comfortable with though so I think it's just a matter of keep trying until I can get 5 perfect laps.

Keep going man, you'll get there. The above is the key to all three challenges. Consistent, clean laps. There's plenty of places around Tsukuba for you to make up that 0.5 sec. Getting the hairpins right will gain you precious fractions of a second and I have to say, after watching some replays the other day, if you take a wide(ish) entrance into corner 5 (after the second hairpin), you can gain a healthy amount of time and speed, which you can carry through corner 6 into the next hairpin. Provided you have enough downforce, you can pass the AI cars here (corner 6), as they tend to give it a dab of brakes (watch out for that).

PS - Compare your build to some that have been posted in the Tuning Forum. You might find something that helps make your car that little bit faster or grippier. I can highly recommend RKM's Juliet. She's a beauty...

I wanted to use the juliet tune, But when I got home it was removed from the thread. Anywhere I can find this tune? FOUND IT... Never mind
I used rotary junkies tune on sti , I am at second place and first is very close . I just need more practice on the track and run the car to become smoother

I finally got the win last night. Man that feels good. I just stuck to my tune which I felt good with and finally managed to get 5 clean laps with 1:04 to start and the rest in the mid 1:03s. I passed the lead car going into the last corner.

The challenge was a lot of fun. I like the Lotus when you get the tune right it doesn't understeer as much. I also like that track as it's short and fairly easy to master.

Now on to the Subaru.... I've got second easily but getting to that last guy is going to be tough.

I was struggling big time with the Elise event, untill i realised i was running comfort tyres. Switched to the sports tyres and won second try

You can change this? <Profanity/swearing removed by moderator> I was able to get 2nd a couple times, but since I've tried so many times, the hp is up and no matter what tune I use, I can't seem to get past 4th... Love these challenges, though.

my best is second place after about 5-6 tries. only thing i added was an aero kit and i put max downforce. i think if i tuned it a bit more i'd get first. i was only away by 3 seconds anyway.

by far and away the best tune I've tried so far. Tried pretty much every tune on gtplanet for this challenge and for my driving style this works best for me. Great job!

I'm glad you liked it. Different drivers prefer different set-ups. I guess we have similar preferences. Did anyone else try this?

I started this challenge last, as I have won the FIAT and Subaru, and I can honestly say, not one of these events is any easier than the other. 2 hours on the Elise event, and still can't do it. (car is almost stock, just with high IT / accel LSD and minor engine and weight upgrades, stock suspension)

I may do it stock with a rear wing, pity though, I hate adding those clippers.

Mate try with this...
Aero F0/R14
Balast 111kg/-50
Engine full tune/turbo stage2
Transmission 240km/h
Drivetrain 6/55/5
Suspension F10/R-25
Spring rate F3.8/R5.2
Dampers ext. 2/5
Dampers comp. 4/1
Anti-roll bars 1/3
Camber angle F3.2/R2.8
Toe angle F-0.38/R0.04
Brakes 9/10
Abs1 all other off,controller sens.6
This is only for first place! :)
