Hey all... i've bought the Tamora because of it's small size and relatively high power. But it has a crushing tendensy to understeer... i've tried to tune it i little, but i can't get it to handle right... so if one of you guru's will make me a proper setup, i will be very glad.
By the way it is fully moded....

thanx in advance.........JEVP

I have got quite a nice little tamora set up, but after the recent knowledge gained from Zardoz and other official tuning guru's, I will see if I can help, gimme a few days.

After quite a bit of messing about trying to get the thing to turn in, here we go. this is a WIP, so don't wine if its not quite what you're after! And by the way, wait for the tyres to heat up! I did this with all the engine mods, but only a stage 2 NA tune up. Everything else is top kits, triple clutch etc...

REVISED

After reading a bit, practicing a bit and talking a bit, I tried again.

All listed Front / Rear respectively where applicable

Tyres RM / RM

Brakes 6 / 6
Springs 8.3 / 9.0
Ride 80 / 77
Bounce 3 / 4
Bound 6 / 8
Camber 2.9 / 1.8
Toe -1 / -1
Stabliser 1 / 4

Ballast ----

Downforce 30/30

LSD init 8 / acc 47 / dec 16

Driver Aids Ov 0 / Un 0 / TCS 2

Use the transmission trick plus a little tuning to get
1st 2.950
2nd 2.000
3rd 1.570
4th 1.270
5th 1.050
6th NA
Final 3.200

I think that using the RM's and the wing is not really playing the game, since in a race where I could use race tyres and wings, I would be in a racing car. So, this setup was devised with out wings, running a stage 2 only engine, and on SS tyres. I recorded a 18.784 in that config. I was curious to see what it would do with the stage 3, wings and race tyres however, 1:10.996

The defence rests...

Hi Cango,

I haven't tried your settings I'm just reading through while I'm here in the office. But I just wanted to say (from my experience) your settings look as if they contradict each other:

Brakes 15 / 10 (seem a little high to me, but if it works for you great)

Springs 9.5 / 5.5 (a soft rear setting will make the back of car more stable and less likely to lose traction, a higher front setting will make the front wheels less forgiving and they won't turn in as well)

Ride 70 / 80 (a higher ride height a the back will induce over steer, as this will move the center of gravity towards the front making the back lighter)

Bounce 3 / 2 (again a harder front will make the it harder to turn in)

Bound 6 / 4 (on a rear wheel drive car a higher re-bound will keep the drive wheels in contact with road better)

Camber 2.9 / 1.8 (camber comes into play when cornering at high speed when the weight of the car is rolling the tyre/wheel over, if you set the camber up so that when the car rolls it rolls the wheel on to a complete footprint of tyre maitaining grip. With the rear at a lower setting the rear will lose traction before the front again oversteering)

Toe 1 / -3 (toe as you've shown here increaseing the distance between the leading edges of the wheels will increase traction in the turn, there by default giving the rear less traction)

Stabliser 2 / 4 (a softer front stabilizer will help the front turn in easier whilst a harder rear will induce oversteer)

As I said before I haven't driven your settings, and if they work for you and you win races then thats what it's all about.

Cheers

I tried following the principals, but they did not seem to work. Please try that out and if you can improve on it, go for it. Infact, I would love to improve on it, I just could not get the swine to turn in to start with.

I'm doing the 'Ring 24hr at the moment but I'll try a set up when it's finished and post the settings. Note: I like a car very stable in the turns but when I want to have a bit of fun I can get the back end out and is still controlable.

Cheers

I have been reading the "noober" tuning text, and think I might have a go with that next, although I am working on my beloved R8 at present. I really want your input now, because I like a nice stabel car too, with neutral handling, and no understeer. If I have to choose, will take a little oversteer over understeer anyday.

So this is what I came up with for the Tamora, all upgrades inc. rollcage and oil change.
F R
RM/RM tyres
8/8 brakes
8.3/9.0 Spring rate
77/77 Height
3/4 Bounce
6/8 Rebound
3.0/2.0 Camber
+1/+1 Toe (increase front toe for more grip in the turns, rear toe for twisty tracks)
3/4 Stab

12 Auto setting gearbox
3/3/3 Driver aids
max downforce (although the wing looks ****)

It's probably not the perfect set but the turn in is good and it holds the line well in the corner.

Cheers

In the Tamora I was getting around 1.10,9ish so for comparision I tried it with the CLK touring car standard spec and was coming in around 1.11,7

So Iwas quite impressed really, I used RM tyres and wing so I could push harder in the corners to test the suspension set up.

Oops had an off

Good effort, but what will it run without the without the winds and racing rubber. Mostly this car had to run with Sports tyres. I tested it and I could not get below 1.19 on Deep forest without RM's and downforce. Its the long sweeping bends that are the killer, in the hairpin and thought the kink its pretty good.

What time did you manage round Deep Forest ?
Some tuners are actually so good they don't even need to test- and they can critique a tuning set without ever even trying it or driving the car. Maybe some day I'll be that good. In the meantime here's MY Tamora, tuned with all available enhancements including frame stiffner and wing. It did 1'13.818 at Deep with racing hards. The reason I am able to offer times is that my car is considered done when I am finished chasing it's lap ghost; then it is simply a matter of copying the numbers from my best lap. As always with my tunes, feedback robbing asm is disabled. I found this car to be surprisingly pushy for a FR Brit car, the only real oversteer I could induce was from unbalanced setting gyrations :dopey:
brakes 7/7
springs 10.0/10.6
height 85/85
bound 5/4
rebound 6/5
camber 2.8/1.8
stabilizer 3/3
auto set 9
asm/o 0
asm/u 0
tcs 3
downforce 30/30
lsd 10/40/20
enjoy
