Turbo Lag

Why would you ever want to try to dial out the turbo lag in the Option Z? It was built for 1 reason - REALLY FAST STRAIGHT DRAG. It's not meant to be drivien on a course or the road, just on a really long, straight section of a Nevada highway. Leave it the way it is and use it only as a highspeed Test Course car. There is no other function for it.
Yeah there is, i've won plenty of races with it. I don't mean to disrespect it and all, it sucked when the first one crashed (oh!, goes to look for another video to download missing from the collection).

i put on triple plate clutch and a racing flywheel.. i would have thought that would have been problem but... nope.. guess not

Racing flywheel will only slow you down even more when going uphill. Same for the carbon drive thingy that you can only put on FR and 4wd cars.

Lol...so tell me, how did it do at Laguna Seca or Infineon? Must have been one hell of a time trying to exit those corners, huh? It's so pathetic to see a car that can't get moving...let alone corner. Props to you for winning races with it. It takes skill and patience to be able to win with something that spins in all 6 gears. Love the car though...god knows why (probably because of the incident on its maiden drag).

i had the same problem with that car. took forever to get moving in low rpm ranges. i eventually just got sick of it and moved on. to me it didnt seem like a gear problem it just didnt feel like the car had any pwer whatsoever at low rpms.
the problem is the car is set up like a dyno queen or pure dragstrip monster.
The turbo is simply the biggest they could get, meaning it needs a lot of rpm to spool it up. A smaller turbo (don't remember if it's available) would improve spool up but I don't know how much power you would lose.
Try some of the tuner village shops for a stage 5 kit which is the (from real world) a larger compressor housing with a smaller exhaust housing (hybrid) for better spool with big power. I know I found it for one of my cars.

Sorry, I realize this is a bit of an old thread, but hey, can't blame a guy for actually using the 'search' feature...

My main machine in this game is my dream car, the ST165, or 4th gen Celica AllTrac (listed in GT4 as the '86 Celica 2000GT-Four)... I tuned it how i'd want it in real life - close ratio, rally spec'd, and geared toward low-end torque rather than massive HP... as much as I'm a fan of superchargers over turbos, this unfortunately is not an option, so instead I bought a stage 1 turbo w/ the smaller sports intercooler on purpose, in favor of the non-existent lag. It's beautiful on technical city courses with uphill climbs like Citta di Aria, where the throttle is constantly feathered and much of the track is driven at less than 60mph.

My question - the Original Turbo, or stage 5, that the tuners offer, boasts big HP w/ no torque loss - has anyone tried it? can it handle technical courses and maintain low-speed torque?

most likely. why not try it out for yourself? :) I think i put an original turbo on my mr2 and its got great low end torque. same for the supra.
