I might hop in turtle town in a second while the wife is gone shopping for the cookout and my daughter is asleep.

And my second lap was my attempt at drifting and gaining car control. I suck at regaining control

Yup, TYRO then Enduro will wear you out!

I think they're remarkable.

Remarkably tight. If this thing would rotate a bit more off throttle it would be sooo much better. I don't mind the tight exit (with that much hp on tap you kinda need that, but could it just turn a tad when I need to lift?!

Well I guess PD didn't want me to race the 2nd race. A disconnect from server while waiting on 2nd race and another disconnect from server going into turn 1 on the first lap.

Sorry I didn't make it tonite carnival was in town, I had a couple beers and forgot I was supposed to race tonite. Next week I have to be some where at 6 am will try to Make it

Great race in Div 1 everyone. That was a lot of fun. Finally I was able to run races without serious mistakes. :)

I'll be away next weekend so I can't make it to the race but I'll be back for the Special Le Mans race.

One was enough for me last night. I don't know what it is about gaming, but I get terribly frustrated/mad when I make a major error. R/C racing doesn't do that to me and I'm not particularly good at that either. Plus, my neck and back were freakin' killing me. I gotta figure out some way to sit higher. The way my armoire is built, the t.v. is up sort of high. Fine for watching television from 15 feet away, but not for gaming 7 feet away. Hurts like crazy after too long. Probably spent too much time practicing.

I found out last fall my level of frustration and aggravation was directly proportional to the amount of effort and time I spent preparing for the particular race. I decided that I didn't want or need that negative side effect, so cut back on the amount of preparation. Granted, less practice hasn't helped lap times but the change in mindset cut down drastically on in race mistakes and hence faster overall race times. Plus, the urge to throw all my gear in the trash hasn't occurred.

Race your race, run your lines, if your faster than others, great, if not, so be it. You'll get better just by running with folks that are faster and relaxing your mind so you can effectively learn from them. When/if it feels like work, you might want to consider scaling back the action some. It's supposed to be fun.

I would like to join this racing lg psn= PICHON617

Great, thank you for joining the Enduro Racing Series. Please complete items 1-4 below to finish up the process. Thanks, and welcome to the Turtle Racing League!

How to join the Turtle Racing League - Enduro Racing Series

Step 1: Post your request to join along with your PSN ID in this thread and include your request for "Division A" if you wish to use driver assists. Also choose and include a unique (refer to drivers list) car and wheel color combination. You will also need to choose a unique car number for cars with number plates.

Step 2: Accept the friend requests you are sent which will include our TURTLE_Town lounge that is to be used for practice, testing, free run, or casual pick up races.

Step 3: Purchase and break in your car(s) then change the oil. Do not tune them in any way. Races are "Tuning Prohibited" however, the "Tuning Prohibited" filter allows for changing brake balance, torque split, and engine limiter.

Step 4: Join the appropriate divisional lounge on Saturday night at 10pm Eastern / 7pm Pacific

OMG! Dragonwhisky, that is exactly 100% the way it is with me also. Some guys get all worked up over it, but if they all did exactly what you said they would be better off all the way around. Great post, thanks!

Completely agree! That was a great post. I started thinking about it earlier and figured maybe I'd be better off by limiting how much time I spend practicing. Granted, the practice does help a ton with consistency for me, but I think it also lifts my expectations of myself a bit more than is reasonable. However, in r/c I put a TON more time into preparation for a FAR shorter main event. I don't know, there's a different mentality there for me and I can't quite put my finger on it.

On a brighter side, I put down my fastest lap of the week last night in the race.. sub 47. That was pretty exciting!

Thanks! There are lots of guys faster than me and Psycho is certainly one of them.

This was exactly my problem. I expected, since I put in all that time practicing and practicing that I should be blazing through the field and winning everything. It was all ego. Leave your ego in the pit and just drive.

A "racer" I respect once said if you're turning your personal bests in races you're doing something wrong. I disagree with this wholeheartedly. I usually don't hit my best rhythm unless and until I'm in a race with others. Hot lapping by myself is not the same as trying to follow someone who's faster than you. I usually turn my fastest laps when I see someone I know is faster than me, chasing me down.

The preparation model I use now for the Sunday league I'm in is to get the cars, have Bob break them in if necessary, then about 2+- hours before the green flag drops I hit the lounge to get used to the car on whichever track it's being run at. I usually do it in the league's lounge and sometimes others come in and we do some practice races. The only time I make an effort to practice more than that is if I'm completely unfamiliar with a track or it's one I really don't like, Rome for instance.

I recall a go karting experience I had when I was around 13-14 years old. Jeez, what a long time ago that was. Anyways, I was out there destroying the other kids on the track no matter their age. I was thinking myself all that, even though I was lifting going into the tighter turns. I don't know if the guy worked there or was some random grownup but he got on track and for a while it seemed he and I were the only two out there. At any rate I found out he was faster than me and trying to keep up with him I discovered I could keep the gas pedal mashed down through the whole course. After that I was easily making him defend every corner and we had a lot of fun. I never did beat him but like I said, it was a lot of fun trying once I knew it could be done and that I was capable of doing it.

I said that to say this;

Hanging out and just watching the guys that are faster than you is usually more beneficial than struggling to keep up with them on track and certainly better than hot lapping by yourself. Watching them go through a turn 15 mph faster than you normally do will convince you that it can be done and once you know this you'll be more confident trying it.

Ok so ill be back around 8 or 9 next Sunday, hopefully you guys are racing that night. I should be available for the 10 o clock race.

Anyways I had a couple questions for you guys about the logistics of it all. I assume you do practice sessions and qualifying before races, so when you say racing starts at 10 is that the start time of the actual race, or the start time of qualifying? I'm just curious to how it all works, don't want to show up and muck things up from being a noob haha

10 is when we get together in the room, we qualify from 10:05 to 10:20 roughly, then we start the race around 10:20 or so. Gives people some time if they are running a bit late.

Great racing last night, I was cleaning kitty litter out of my Enzo all morning!

This is one of the things I love about SPEC racing. All the cars are the same, so if someone is going faster than you around a corner you know it isn't the car, it is the driver. And now that you know it can be done it is up to you to figure out how to do it.

Oh ok :) so I imagine qualifying runs like F1 then? A 20 minute or so session to string together as many flying laps as you wish?

That's why I post my times and every now and then post a guide. If anyone ever has any questions on how to get faster laps, I offer help and run the track with them and *try* to give them pointers when I think I'll have time. I've done it to a couple of members here like Phisher.

I try to pass the knowledge I've gained over the years of experience onto others, and not to just say hey look how fast I can go.
