Great Racing overall in Division 1! Went Really well and pretty lag free for the most part.

we also had several really close finishes after 45 minutes of racing!! Really good racing by everyone! very impressed!

Getting disconnected race 1 aside, tonight was very fun. And yes, there were some close finishes. Pretty darn clean for the most part too. 👍

I apoligize for that, I'll try my best to avoid that for future races when testing combos.

You cant avoid it @Ph1sher, dont even attempt. A lot of tracks have a corner or 2 that a ds3 has to lift at. The trade off is it is much easier to save a spin with the ds3 and quick switchback chicanes are easier with a flick of the analog than on a wheel. If i really was overly upset about being at a disadvantage id get a wheel. For now i can be semi competitive on a ds3 and can find someone to battle on each track whether its up front or out back. As long as there's good close racing, where i finish is unimportant.

Yeah good point, I will give you guys who use ds3 props for how fast you are with a controller. I remember using a controller and no where near your guys pace.

As the Division 2 field goes into Turn 1! Fun night of racing guys, even though sucked pretty badly lol. Guess the highlight of the night was going 29 Laps on one set of tires trying to fin the first race, which didn't happen. :D

Turtle Racing League - Race Night Recap - Division 1​

For week 3, the Turtles made their way back to ‘Murica for some action packed racing. The venue was the Indy Road Course located in Speedway, Indiana (only about an hour drive for one DolphDrago). The car? The wicked fast Corvette Z06 (C6) LM Racing Car (which unfortunately didn’t like to turn in the final corner for DS3 users). So how did the evening fare for our testosterone laced Turtles?

Race 1

Welcome to Indy Road Course where the Turtles are unloading their Corvette Z06 Race cars with some of the fastest turtles are finishing up checking their brake balance and reviewing footage for the 2 big races tonight. As 1 Turtle driver, randy1122 had some mechanical failures during practice and broke his transmission and blew a piston in his corvette engine.

The cars line up for qualifying and they go for 3 laps and after qualifying mikey_2412 came on top on the pole followed by Phish and Kross and GTRacer22 rounded out the field in 10th place after qualifying

It’s going to be one heck of an intense of a first race with competition all over the track. The drivers line up on the grid and the countdown begins..and..GREEN!! The corvettes go roaring down the front stretch into corner 1, entering the brake zone, your pole sitter mikey_2412 brakes late and misses corner one and GTP_Ph7shr leads the field coming out of 1 as mikey_2412 was going to have to make his way back up the grid from 10th place. Kross was running in 2nd behind the fish and the grass got the best of him early on and spun him out into the grass and sand. Kross had a long ways to make up, but he had plenty of time to get up front. Early on in the race, Dolph Drago had a strong run going despite his front tires having issues with the it being toe out quite a bit, with his ds3 However Dolph was able to run very strong with his ds3 but soon both his front tires went off and broke his front suspension and he had to pull out of the race with a rare disconnection. Whitey093 was another driver who had toe out problem with his ds3 but ran very solid throughout the race. Whitey093 made a impressive run for the top 5 as he was running 6th, and lllTrick was noticing Whitey093 was on the move to battle him for the top 5! With only a few laps left, Whitey093 managed to get around lllTrick for 5th.

More up front, GTP_Ph7shr continued running with his killer pace by not far behind MrRacingLine who also was running a unreal pace. As the tires went down, strategy came into play for all the drivers, Mikey_2412 was on a mission from the back of the pack and climbed all the way back up to 3rd place by the time pit strategy was coming into play. Most of the field pitted around lap 16 to lap 17, however GTP_Ph7shr came out of the pits on Lap 19 with the freshest tires of the entire grid, as Phish was coming out of the pits, MrRacingLine was leading followed by Mikey_2412 in 2nd, as Mikey_2412 was finishing the 1st sector late in the race, he went around once again, as you could see the frustration in Mikey who has made 2 driver errors now for himself in race 1 but still returned to track and kept running.

Looking more towards the back, GTRacer22 and Noir_Antares had some early track problems with trying to get in a rhythm but started to throw down some fast laps towards the end of the race. Noir_Antares and GTRacer22 were only separated by around 2 seconds after 45 minutes of racing as they both showed some serious frustration to their car setup managers and in fact fired each of them right after the race 1. We had quite the battle to end the race between micantony and lllTrick. As the battle continues for lllTrick had micantony around as well, and lllTrick beat micantony, but wasn’t by much at all especially after 45 minutes of intense racing action. Kross was involved in this great battle as well after having a rough start for himself and his crew, Kross managed to climb up the field up to a well deserved 4th place finish. Showing to never give up despite what happens early on in the race.

The Fans were going crazy, the race was finished, GTP_Ph7shr was doing burn outs after the race as he got on top of his car, waved to the crowd as the fans clapped” brought his car to the Indy victory Lane as MrRacingLine was up standing in the 2nd Podium spot, and Mikey_2412 in the 3rd Podium spot. All the drivers came together after race 1 and discussed how it went, and congratulated each other and returned to the garage for race 2 adjustments.

Race 2

After his superb 2nd place finish, MrRacingLine opted to bow out in race 2 as he was tired and satisfied. With the reverse grid, Dolph was on pole position. However, due to his disconnection in race 1, he needed to start in the back. He decided he would run straight through turn 1 to let everyone by. What he didn’t realize was that two other Turtles (Antares and Racer22) would overshoot the first corner and join him in no man’s land. It also meant that the rest of the field gained three positions without any effort on their part. Lucky for them.

Mic took the early lead with Trick and Whitey just behind. Kross made his way up to the lead by lap 3, but got an accidental boot from Mic, who was having brake troubles. The field flew by while the two got resituated. Mic would spend the rest of race very lonely cruising around in the final spot. It would be a very different story for Kross. Racer22 found the kitty litter just before the entrance back onto the oval while running 4th on lap 4. The sand was very difficult to get out of as it dropped him back to 8th by the time he rejoined the track. He would admittedly have a difficult race thereon.

Phish had made his way up to 2nd around Trick by lap 6. Mikey, who had inherited the lead after Mic and Kross’ collision, had pulled out to almost a 4 second lead. It would take some work for him to be caught. At the same time, Dolph and his nemesis from the first races of the season at Laguna Seca, Whitey, swapped positions with Dolph taking over the 4th spot. Kross was on the comeback trail and slipped by Racer22 and into 8th. Antares and Whitey fought for a few laps with Whitey retaining his position.

Mic made an early pit stop at lap 12 and wanted to stretch his tires on his final stint. At the same time, Kross had maneuvered past Antares to move up to 6th. On lap 13, Whitey repassed Dolph for 4th. Clearly Whitey was able to handle his worn tires better. Or so we thought. Whitey only made it half a lap before putting a tire off in the braking zone at the end of the infield straight. Off he went and patiently waited as Dolph, Kross, Anatares and Racer22 went by. One small mistake could be so costly at this track!

Nearing the halfway point of the race, the pecking order had remained unchanged up front. Mikey still led Phish. He had upped the gap to roughly 6 seconds though. Trick still held 3rd, 12 seconds arrears of Mikey, but well ahead of Dolph by 10 seconds. Kross found his way around Dolph on lap 15. He could smell the podium despite his devastating lap 3. Antares, having learned 2 stopping from race 1 doesn’t work, made his way to pit road. One lap later, Mikey, Dolph, Racer22, and Whitey all went in for a new pair of boots. Kross and Trick waited 1 lap later to get fresh rubber themselves. Phish amazingly held on yet a lap later before visiting his pit crew.

With all pit stops complete at lap 20, the running order was Mikey, Phish, Trick, Kross, Dolph, Racer22, Antares, Whitey, and Mic. Mikey had just put down a ridiculous fast lap of 1:21.557. Phish, running several more laps than Mikey on his old tires, had dropped 16 seconds behind. As for the rest of the field, Kross was running down Trick for 3rd. Meanwhile Racer22, Antares and Whitey were having a fairly close scrap for their positions 6th through 8th. At this time, Racer22 though it would be a good idea to see if the tire barrier in turn 1 would move if you ran into it. Answer: it doesn’t. Antares passed by, while Whitey went too deep into turn 1, either to avoid the stricken car of Racer22 or simply getting distracted by seeing a car sideways in the middle of the road. But Racer22 wasn’t done yet. While trying to chase Antares back down 3 laps later, he overcooked it at the end of the infield straight and went off course, losing a position to Whitey. Whitey had his sights set on Antares.

As the laps wound down, all the Turtles had settled into a groove. With just a couple of laps left, Whitey had caught Antares. He hung on to his back bumper like glue, but had yet to make his move. With 1 lap to go, Kross had caught up to Trick for 3rd. He badly wanted the podium, but Trick was able to hold him at bay and keep the coveted spot. Mikey rode off into the sunset with what appeared to be an easy victory, finishing a monstrous 22 seconds ahead of Phish in 2nd. As mentioned, Trick barely held off Kross to grab the 3rd position. Dolph spent the entire second half of the race simply hotlapping the track, having no one around him to race and coming home 5th. Whitey finally made his move on Antares halfway around the final lap and beat him to the stripe to take 6th. Racer22 and Mic rounded out the field in 8th and 9th respectively.

Overall

Overall, Phish took the gold for the evening, just 1 point ahead of Mikey. Kross made an incredible comeback in race 2 and helped propel him into the bronze 3rd position. Trick was only 3 points behind in an excellent 4th overall. Whitey came home with a solid 5th place on 69 points. Dolph finished the night with 57 points, good enough for 6th. Could he have picked up a spot in the standings without the disconnection? For the second week in a row, there was a 3 way tie, this time for 7th through 9th. Fastest lap determined who got the top spots between Racer22, Antares, and Mic. The only driver to dip into the 1:22’s was Racer22, so he was credited with 7th. By virtue of being a couple of tenths faster than Mic, Antares took the 8th position overall, leaving Mic in 9th. Finally, with his fantastic finish of 2nd in race 1, MrRacingLine rounded out the overall field in 10th.

Congrats to Phish on his race 1 and overall win in division 1, as well as Mikey for his victory in race 2! Those are some fast Turtles!

Thanks everyone once again for coming out to race. We had a large gathering in both divisions tonight, which was awesome to see! It made for some very competitive and exciting racing with so many Turtles on the track. Though there were a couple of mishaps, they were much cleaner races than the first two weeks. In the times there were contact (not lag related), drivers were considerate in giving the other driver their spot back. You show respect, and you get respect back. It makes for clean races and overall better racing. 👍

Turtle nation will be duking it out at Silverstone next week with three challenging cars. Hope to see you all then!

Turtle Racing League - Race Night Recap - Division 2​

Breakdown: Division 2 - American Dream

Race 1

One of my favorite cars, one of my favorite tracks, one of my favorite cities, and a packed night of racing against a strong D2 field made this a night to remember. Starting on the pole was Littleregret265, next to Dylanlikes88. WilliFRendon and Damon84c took 3rd and 4th in qualifying, with Oharagbr19 and Aceboy127 directly behind them on row 3. Nolucktoday slotted up in 7th place and AngryEater was in the final spot on the grid for the 32 lap race ahead.

As the green flag was shown to the drivers, a very colorful battalion of Corvettes roared into the 1st turn. Things immediately got hairy with a few offs in turns 1 and 2, but as the dust settled, all 8 drivers hustled around the road course. Early on, Dylan was able to snatch the lead after Littleregret outbraked himself a bit into turn 1 on lap 2, and put on a dominant performance up front with Regret in tow. Nolucktoday made up a few positions off the start and found himself in 5th, while Willi after a rough start, unfortunately disconnected from the lobby on only the 3rd lap. Aceboy and Damon had a great battle right from the green flag, staying close to the leaders for some time while swapping positions, however an incident on lap 5 for Damon allowed Noluck to slide his #11 Corvette into 4th place with his smooth and steady strategy, while Dylan began to put a solid lead on the rest of the field. AngryEater retired the 37 car after 10 laps, leaving 6 more cars out on track.

As most of the field pitted around the halfway mark, we saw an interesting strategy from Damon, who kept the 84 out on track to save some time. However, with the Racing Soft tires, the car couldn’t last out there and he fell down the order, back to 5th place before he finally took the car into the pits on lap 30. Aceboy127 managed to put a gap between himself and Nolucktoday as the race progressed past the 25 minute mark, though Noluck had kept a good chase going up to that point. Ohara also parked it after 24 laps, leaving himself in 6th place as the race drew to a close. Dylan drove a fast and clean race, finishing in 45 minutes and 45 seconds, with LR265 some 10 seconds behind on fairly worn tires, also scoring the fastest lap of the evening at 1:22.881. Aceboy127 rounded out the podium with his #23 Vette coming in 25 seconds behind the leader, and Nolucktoday brought 4th place home, both drivers having improved 3 positions from the start. Damon84c and Oharagbr19 rounded out the finishers, with Damon finishing a lap down from Dylan and securing 36 points, while Ohara took 33 points.

Race 2

The grid for race 2 remained at 6 drivers, though we lost Ohara and regained WilliFRendon. With Willi starting from the back with Dylan, and Damon and Nolucktoday up front, we got Race 2 rolling. Aceboy127 took 2nd right away and started moving to overtake Damon on lap 2, but a collision in turn 2 set both Aceboy and Damon back a few positions. Plenty of mistakes were made in the wake of this accident up front, and WilliFRendon moved past Noluck and up into 4th place, with LR265 in 1st as Dylan held off Aceboy. Over the next few laps though, Dylan had caught LR265 and put the pressure on, flying back into the lead on the exit of turn 11, as Aceboy and Regret pushed hard to keep up.

After everyone had pitted in, it was WilliFRendon who ended up back on the podium after a successful undercut, moving Aceboy down to 4th. Aceboy was not going to take this lying down, and used his fresher tires to close the gap to 3rd, inching up on the 14 car slowly but surely. But before he could execute the pass, he found himself back in 3rd thanks to another driver spinning around in turn 11! The 26 of Regret had a fair amount of ground to make up from 4th place and only 10 laps left to do it. However he had reasonably fresh tires and 8 seconds ahead, WilliFRendon and Aceboy127 were contending with one another for Silver. Using this opportunity, Regret was able to gain a little here and a little there as the night wound down. Dylanlikes88 took the checkered flag again, making it a stellar night for the #72 topped off with a celebratory round of post race burnouts. Aceboy127 finished in 2nd having the best lap of the race, a 1:23.166 and 45 points to take home. In the fight for 3rd, there was a tight finish as WilliFRendon was able to hold off Littleregret265 long enough to take the final step of the podium, finishing only 0.792 seconds ahead of the 26. Nolucktoday took 5th place for another 36 points, with Damon84c at the back, scoring 33 points.

Overall

After a spectacular pair of races in enjoyable cars on a historic track, it only gets more interesting in the final results. First of all, I hardly need to mention that Dylanlikes88 was the overall winner, just a pole position away from a perfect 100 points this weekend. Second place is awarded to Aceboy127, beating Littleregret by only a point in the end; 87 to Regret’s 86. In fourth we have Nolucktoday @ 75 points overall, showing a consistent effort in spite of a very busy night of racing. 6 points down, we have a tie for 5th. Breaking the tie with a best lap of 1:23.472, WilliFRendon takes the spot over Damon, just showing how hotly contested these Turtle Races can be. In 7th place we have Oharagbr19 with 33 points for the night, just ahead of AngryEater with 30 points.

Congratulations to Dylan with wins in both races, and also to Aceboy & LR on their podium spots and close finish.

A big thanks to everyone who came out this weekend, like I said this one was a night to remember. We had almost 20 cars in total and we’re only hoping to grow more from here. Next week is going to be a 3-race night at Silverstone GP with a bevy of fast cars and talented drivers, and we hope to see you out there!

That was officially the second best night in my sim racing career! I don't think I'll be able to top a perfomance like that, but I'm gonna try next week! Can't wait.
