TV versus monitor question

Any help here would be very appreciated.
I've been thinking about upgrading my monitors for a while now and still i'm torn between the larger screen size TV's offer and the picture quality of a monitor.

The question is if I go for a 100HZ HDMI connected TV will I get 100HZ when I use it as a monitor? Does the HZ drop? This is the model I'm looking at http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/televisions/flat-tvs/UE32H5000AKXXU

Neither are very expensive but I do have other projects un sim related going on plus I'll need three, and these have quiet small bezels.
I could afford 42" as they are such good value for money at the moment, I just don't have the space currently.

I have that exact monitor and I love it but im no expert, It looks really nice and has a nice thin bezel. Iv just got another 2 off ebay and im going to go with triples
 
There is no 100 hz tv. It´s a marketing fraud with interpolating frames. You will run it at 60 hz which is max it can output without overclocking.

input lag is important to check out. Sony has the best numbers regarding this with their W-series.

Screen size is important I really enjoy my 50". Maybe a 40" would be a better compromise between being able to have the monitor up close without getting to big. I get nausea with my 50" on my cockpit due to the vaste image area. Make me a bit worried about the Rift for longer periods as well :(
 
@oqvist is spot on with Hz, and Sony W-series. Take input lag seriously. Some of the best tvs are the ones with the worst input lag.

The Vizio 4K TV was the best performer after the CRT, as long as you stick to one particular HDMI input. This is because while most HDMI inputs top out at 60Hz (50Hz in PAL countries), this Vizio has a "High Velocity" HDMI input that supports 4K/60Hz or 1080/120Hz throughput. Even though this set has to upscale the 1080p image to 4K, using this port reduced input lag severely. On any other HDMI port the input lag was a sky-high 292ms."
 
Truthfully there is not much to distinguish between a TV and a Monitor anymore. A TV has some sort of tuner but the rest is really down to pixels, length/width ratio, size, response time, refresh rate, color dynamics and a bunch of other technical specs.
 
That's why I opted for a Sony 55W805B instead of a Samsung with better 3D. The input lag on the Samsung is really bad. The input lag on my tv is about 25ms

I've done the TV thing, and the monitor thing, and I WAY prefer monitors. Although you can get a BIGGER TV (or 3) for less money that the similar size of monitor, the monitor just seems sharper and more compliant overall.
 
Black level is in my opinion the most important component in picture quality. With plasma dove tailing (hopefully) in to oled, tvs are and have been king in this department. Not that there won't be oled monitors. As I stated before, input lag is very important, but we shouldn't forget all else and make it completely a gamer's numbers game.

Oled monitors are going to be a beautiful thing when they finally properly arrive.
 
I couldn't take the risk of spending double on 42" and being disappointed with the frame rate and picture quality. I ordered the monitor's last night. Worried that I'd only get 50Hz as I'm in a pal region.
 
Depending on what you're running, 50Hz is sometimes better than 60Hz. Asssetto Corsa does all of it's calculations in multiples of 50 and runs smoother at 50 or 100Hz. iRacing is a 60 multiple sim.

I'd be utterly shocked if you managed to find a current day monitor that was limited to 50Hz though.
