Tweaking Internet

Is there a way that you can tweak your internet to be at full efficiency? I saw soemthing on it a while back on The Screen Savers, techtv. Back then i had 56k, so i didnt care much. Anyone see this on TSS or has done it?

This is what I found so far. Tweak Genie
Duck's is probably better.

I think your link is to just customize Windows, not to speed up the internet.

There's also this program by Google, though when I tried it when I was on Windows, it didn't make a difference to me. Plus there's also a ton of privacy concerns when you use it (Google can see every single page you go to).

To be honest, if you have high-speed internet, there's really not much of a difference in internet speeds, if any, if you use any program to "speed up the internet".

It does have a internet speed up program, and it seems to work. FasterFox is just telling me how much time it takes to load a page.

By the way, that google thing sucks.

I have Firefox, but i dont have faster fox, is there a way i can use that to my advantage? If so, can you help ?

Edit: I just installed faster fox, any recommondations, on what i should do? Thanks!

Dump FasterFox. It uses idle bandwidth time to download all of the links on a webpage. Do you have any idea how many links there are on GTP? Install Tweak Network instead.

There was also this thread started almost 2 years ago.

Check out http://www.speedguide.net/. There are various discussion forums, speed tests, a small database of registry tweaks and an online tool that will report information about your current connection with advice on how to tweak it for better performance. They also have some optimizing software available for download.

CableNut is also good software for this purpose.

Edit: Note that even after tweaking as much as you can, you should be happy if you are getting more than 90% of your ISP's reported download ratings.
